2023 BMW R12 NineT ... Is it WORTHY?!
Information is slowly leaking out on the R12 as of this videos release, yet it's still sparse. So here's a nostalgic look at where the R NineT came from aesthetically, starting with the 2013 R9T Roadster model and how the the new kid on the block compares, that being BMWs incarnation of the R12.

My 2014 r nine t looks a lot better than that by now. First R Nine Ts are timeless bikes. No need to replace.

Hey there @27andyD, my taste in bikes has been known to change, like acquiring a taste for whiskey, but in this instance, the more I view the R12, the more I agree with you. 👊✊️👍😃

I agree that this newer one is much better looking. I love a clean design and the new one is just more fundamental.

@jacobkelly9873 you're right, it is a cleaner design. And I have to say, personally I like the silencer/muffler, but I much prefer the shape of the original tank. I'll be interested to see it for real, once it is released. Do you have the R12 on your Short List for your next bike? 😃

@@outtheresomewhere The thing is, it's just change for the sake of it, there's nothing new, no real world improvements. If it ain't broke... and the R nineT most definitely isn't deficient in any area. Sure, another 15 bhp is always welcome but then this new R12 doesn't even offer that. I honestly thought they'd now be using the 1250 engine as they're about to bring in the 1300 for the rest of the range. Still, I'm more than happy with what I've got. Personally, I think the R12 will bomb, which is a shame. I also think they've made it look a little Japanese to try and get more sales, which is precisely why the R nineT scored so highly. Love your vids btw, they're extremely helpful, so many thanks.

You summed that up better than I could @GregWallis. I love Japanese motorcycles, but I also love the R9T for its originality. Hence I hear what you are saying. Well, it'll be interesting to watch this one play out. Excuse my late reply , my wife and I have both been sick. Winter in Aotearoa New Zealand🤪

I was going to pull the trigger on a scrambler 2023 but I think I am going to wait. I like the Neo-Retro design and I am pretty sure it will grow on me very fast. I am still in love with the current r90ts but super curious about the new scrambler look. Cheers from Munich.

if you wouldnt know which is the newer one, im sure everyone would assume that the R12 is got to be a prototype version of our ninet. because they actually removed things from the old one and called it a day. which should be the other way round. the wonderful air intake from the right side is gone, which added a unique look to the R9T. that Aluminium piece under the seat which is so iconic look also gone. Our beuitful tank which had these small 3 indentations are bastartized into a boxy looking weird ass ducati scrambler looking tincan. Im sorry but this new R12 adds nothing new to the Rninet nor does it look any better, infact it looks worse. a lot worse. the only thing its better on the new is those headlights

@captainbarnicle8548 oohhh yeah, there are a few. The tank and cowl shape are different, as are the headcovers. Also the frame is more hidden and the under-seat bracket is nowhere to be seen. New silencer/muffler ..although I like that particular change. ...and other subtle changes.

@joe-rocket, the original price of my 2013 R9T was NZ$28,000 but I had most of the extras included in that price. It was expensive then, but now the same is well over NZ$32,000. $4000.00 just in approx' 10 years😬
