I’m a fan of the Z4. I actually have a 2007 Z4 3.0 naturally aspirated, 6-speed manual. Pure driving, not a lot of todays luxury options, but a throwback to when the person had to drive the car, not the car driving the person.
BMW is somewhat on a roll. Their reliability is getting better and are bringing this fine looking car out in manual. I wish they would go back to some physical controls in their interiors however, particularly the X5 and M2. B48/58 are great engines but need to be properly maintained.
It’s not the engines that are the problem. Their inline-6 engines are good reliability-wise. It’s their electronics. And plastics on critical moving parts in the engine.
Just an FYI.. the armrest is split offset so you can put the side closest to the driver down, have your drink in the cupholder and STILL have an armrest (for the driver... passengers don't matter LoL)
I just put a deposit a few days ago on a ‘24 230i XDrive after getting in an accident with my ‘22 330i. Looking forward to driving a coupe again! This car will be coming with me to Delray Beach in 4 years when I retire🎉
My favorite factory bass was from the Shaker systems the Mustang used to have like 10 years ago. Even the 500 had nice bass, never heard the 1000, bet it was even better.
I agree with everything you said Kirk. I got the Z4 30i back in June and really love this fun roadster. Plenty of power for the street and lighter and more nimble than the 40i. I also upgraded to the M sport suspension and brakes and also found the brakes to be grabby at low speeds, but that improved after a thousand miles.
Every time I see a car like this, I be like: Z, 4, Q, another Q, ahhhh a third Q and the Batman symbol. Merry Christmas to you and your family Kirk. I wanna see some snow in Naples one day.
What are your thoughts about the handschalter edition ... Can an O.K. manual tranny make the Z4 better overall than the ZF 8-speed? I favor manuals, but the ZF is revered. I figure the ZF will be faster accelerating and get quicker times in any laps this car might get.
How’s your hat staying on? I have the x3m40i and I love it. Even in eco mode it literally is as economical as I’d like it to be. Mechanics are warning me about gasket leaks on these B58 engines after the warranty runs out. Im changing oil every 3-4K miles though, as the warranty interval oil changes are ridiculous. I’m tempted to buy out my lease however. Do you suggest I don’t keep it, or are there suggestions on how to avoid the “leak” warnings long term?
I miss my Boxster GTS 4.0 that was rear-ended and totaled last month. As a percentage, how happy would I be with the manual version of this? (the manual tranny is coming out in March 2024!) Would it be 80% of what the Boxster is fun-wise?
@@kerosenefilms I got the manual Z4 and couldn't be happier. It's a better car in every way possible. Tech, gearbox, low-end torque. If the Porsche Boxster GTS were the same price as the manual Z4, I'd still choose the Z4.
Yes, I have a 2022 Z4 M40i in the Misano blue and I absolutely LOVE the colour. Really want the manual transmission but won't be able to get it in this blue which might be the only thing that holds me back from making the change.
The Z4/Supra, alongside the 2 series Gran Coupe, 8 series, and X3/X4 are the last BMWs with the great iDrive7 interior, which is peak BMW interior. I am not a fan of iDrive8
It's a horrible car quality wise. I guy I know has one and it's just terrible. Doors won't lock, the engine won't start randomly. Roof won't close when opened or just stops midway, water coming in through the closed roof. The alarm goes off, brakes making noises, doors not aligned over time and scratching the paint, exhaust coming loose and on and on and on. New car, has it for a year.
