Kirk, From NSW Australia My 2022 LX600 engine blew up on 7th September 2023, i have been driving a es300h. The matter has currently gone legal. On September7th 11pm, i was driving when i suddenly heard a ticking engine which gradually got louder over the next 10 kilometres. I thought it was the engine fan hitting the radiator before all of a sudden CLAK CLAK CLAK CLAK CLAK CLAK like a tractor, then Boom……… before turning off No oil leaks, all internal. At that time I believe Lexus and Toyota genuinely had no idea what went wrong. Predictably They blamed me for adding additives to the fuel and oil, then said there was water in fuel then said i had bought contaminated fuel……. Yes, All my fault of course. I was patient the for 6months, all whilst they loaned me ES’s and Rx’s. They finally blamed me for everything which didn’t surprise me (my LX had only driven 28,000 , had its first service at Lexus at 15,000kms and was due for its second service in a few thousand KMs). I then decided to call my lawyers, since we have negotiated a new LX, compensation on loan interest charged, a loan car till new LX arrives, legals and compensation for the loans % difference in 2022 (2.8%) and current (8%) for the current outstanding due to me now requiring to refinance the remaining against the new LX when it arrives in 4months. Loved My White Ultra VIP, the 3.5 drove like Silk. As a precaution I’ve ordered a Premium Luxury 500d 7seat.
It’s rumored that they’ll discontinue the Supra in 2026 a google search will show you so it makes sense they’d come out with a faster 2.0t considering they still sell the 2.0t Supra also I think they’ll still have the gen 2 86 considering it took them about 10 years to update the design I’m sure it’ll stick for a while and the people wanting the gr86 to have that corolla/yaris engine that probably won’t happen until they are done with the gr86 production maybe until the gen3 comes out
I'm sure Toyota will figure this out.. they may be hiding something, but they know they can't sell junk. I like others, am very happy with my simple 2013 v8. I am not excited about the even more complex that new vehicles all seem to be.. you can thank environmentalists for that shit. The V8 ran clean enough, makes no sense why they were forced into dropping it.
Enough is enough.😒🤦. Small set of people online who always complain don't count as others. Toyota drop the V8 because it's not needed anyone. New twin turbo V6 has better power performance torque mpg and more. Yes there is a recall which I won't deny but recalls for Toyota engines have happened in the past. end of the day Toyota fixed the issues and end of story . So please stop turbos are always unreliable nonsense and saying they are hiding something bullshit. Fact is this comment section is no longer a place for commonsense because of people like you.👎🤦😒. Simple V8 my foot.
Actually kirk, as someone who works for lexus, on some models, when in apple carplay, there is a dedicated bar to access the cars features really easily and quick. Idk if it was an update or new software but it’s there. And if you don’t want the bar there, you can expand the apple carplay screen to full size. I’ve seen it available on all screens whether it’s the smaller base screens or the bigger ones.
Here I was hoping Toyota would finally give the IS its final touch by adding a v6 turbo or supercharged v8 from factory but no they spend extra money on redesigns instead upgrading performance or interior
Thank you for this update ! Thumbs up! This could very well be my first EV if the Toyota Compact Cruiser doesn't come to fruition. The Bolt (GM) isn't even in the same universe as the EV3 (Kia) in terms of looks, usable space, ergonomics, build quality etc.
I’m on my second UX and it is one of my favorite cars I’ve ever had. If you don’t need something too big, this is definitely a great option. amazing fuel economy, smooth and comfortable ride. Also obviously insanely reliable..
A 4.6 liter fuel injected naturally aspirated V-8 is all you need for any truck. Unless you are often towing really heavy loads, they will last for 250,000 miles with 5,000 mile oil change intervals. You turbocharge any engine and that will lessen its life by putting too much stress on the internal parts and bearings. Diesels are designed for very high pressures, so can safely be turbocharged.
All carmakers had to invest billions in EVs R&D so they stop developing or at least made less effort and QC on old ICE technologies… that’s unfortunate.
Toyota is screwed! They still pushing FOOLCELLS and HYDROGEN, that Un-Obtanium fuel, Toyota shouldn't have sold their TSLA shares and embraced BEV, now They have to make deals with BYD for their Batteries and Hybrid Technology, imagine that, BYD has better hybruds than Toyota ! GOODBYE Toyota ! Was nice knowing you! SAYONARA!😂LOL
In my opinion,Sounds like Toyota is buying time with this excuse of debris left in the engine recall ,till they figure out exactly what the problem is.
Should just move to entirely EVs... that's kind of the way we're heading anyways. Could just skip this uncomfortable stage where we try to make boxes fly around quick with gas power while at the same time reduce emmissions.
:( I'm on a GX550 waiting list, but I'm now considering, if my name comes up, passing on it or getting off the list entirely until more info comes out. I'm also on a '25 4Runner TRD Pro list and, so far, feeling more comfortable with the 4Runner as my potential next vehicle.
Cost cutting. Toyota got cheap. It won't be cheap to fix. I bet sales of the Toyota turbos has died since this came out and that is the ONLY reason Toyota made this recall. I won't own anything that uses gas that has a turbo.
We just got the new 2025 Camry I don't remember which one it is though if it was the se or le not sure which is it but its the hybrid one. We turned in our 2015 toyota corrola for 5k and now have to make payments for the camry. Its a grey underground or whatever they called it color. Its a push button to. Its a really nice car. It drives smooth and very relaxing to. I love the car so far. But we have only had it for almost a day. It looks really sporty to my eye's but it just might only be me.
