I'll take the Raptor any day. The manual with a clutch will always be more fun than just putting it in gear and going. It wouldn't matter if it was a true direct comparison and basically identical to the Raptor in every way except the transmission, I'm still going for the Raptor.

I had a 21 Renegade 570. A very cool machine and so I think the 650 will be fun and right for some but there’s never going to be a comparison between a true sport quad with a solid rear axel and a 4x4. Solid rear axel and manual every time. 🤙🏽⚡️

I am 54 yrs old and still love my sport atvs. But I also love the 4x4 for riding alittle of everything and being able to still ride in the winter with snow. But no matter what the pulling of a clutch, shifting of gears, and thunder of that exhaust, and ass end sliding around corners as you slip from one side of the seat to the other is always a great feeling. At my age I rode them all from a go cart, mini bike, dirt bike, three wheeler, and snow mobiles. But a atv u can ride all year. Cant beat it no matter what you ride. Love our sport. Stay safe!!

The Rotax 650 is a great motor, no one disputes that. However, Can am’s pricing strategy as it related to the 650 lineup never made sense. By way of example, In June 2019 at Tampa Bay Powersports, the 650 Outlander xt was only $325 less than the 850 outlander xt. I would venture to guess that 90%+ of buyers would go with the 850 in that scenario. The 650 was always a “tweener” displacement. Anyone who wanted a more forgiving bike was better suited to save some money and go with the 570 and most others went with the 850 due to perceived value.

Atv= Trail rides, hunting, camping, and getting around the property. Wants, good fuel economy, soft seat, good suspension, attachments for work or play, and reliability. If i wanted a race machine then i would buy a 850 or 1000.

I'm not really a huge fan of Renegades to be honest.. If you're grabbing a 4x4 ATV, you might as well get some mud protection.. Outlander XXC or XT-P would be my choice if I were going with a big CanAm

I own the 2023 renegade 650 and have ridden the outlander. It’s important to point out In this video it’s mentioned several times the renegade is just an outlander with different plastics and less utility. I feel like that’s not true at the entry level line up price points. The renegade 650 gives you fox 1.5 (non gas) shocks. They are way better then the stock suspension on the outlander. the renegade is very tight and aggressive and can be jumped easily. The stock outlander 850 even if you want to include the dps or xt model does not have fox shocks at all they are base can am shocks that make it feel very squishy and couch like and the suspension components are set up slightly different too. Even people that do review videos of the outlander say the shocks aren’t great and to go with the xtp model. So I don’t think it’s fair to say they have different plastics and that’s it. If you want fox shocks you have to spend 14199$ for outlander 850xtp that’s a lot more then the renegade 650 at 10599. I do agree the renegade 850 shouldn’t have been dropped bc that’s the one I really wanted for the price and I do wish I had power steering. But for the price ur getting alot of quad that you can aggressively ride in trails and hit some jumps compared to a base outlander 850 or even a dps or xt model. Although the 850 has a more powerful engine. Also I came from riding a raptor 700r and am very happy with the renegade as you can do alot more type of riding with it. For example independent rear suspension 4x4 it’s definitely a good quad to move to if ur debating getting rid of a raptor! This is all my opinion and what I’ve learned and seen between the two at the entry level price points. Hope this info helps everyone.

Great point! When this was released, when I first did the video, the fox podiums weren't advertised as a feature.. But in light of that, I agree 100% that the fox podiums are far superior to the XT suspension.. I still wish it had DPS but I wish I had found out the fox podiums would be on it when I did this.. I'd like to grab one for a review eventually

@@DirtObseXXion i wish it had DPS too 😂 but honestly speaking I had a raptor 700 before this so I never experienced dps so riding this renegade I never really felt it was tough to ride or anything. I bought a new 2022 outlander 850 this past May. I was looking for a 650. Coming from a 2015 grizzly 700 (which I miss dearly) I didn’t feel the need for the high horsepower quads. But I did want just a bit more balls than the grizzly. I thought an outlander 650 would do just that. However, I could not find one in stock within a 5hr drive of Pittsburgh. As I did some more digging, MSRP on a new 650 outlander was $11,499. MSRP on a new 850 outlander was $11,999. For a $500 difference I could get an 850. A dealer 2hrs away had one in stock. So I bought it. So, because I couldn’t find a 650 in stock, and the small price difference between the two sizes are the two sole reasons I bought my 850. Sucks to see the 650 go, but I totally understand the decision. I’m sure I’m not the only one who bought an 850 for those reasons.

Hi Jim, im going to buy my 1st ATV for about $6,000. I come from Poland and sadly the prices here went significally high, specially for the most popular CF Moto which i was kinda going to afford. Because of the fact that i have around 6k to spend, there is simply no option for me in the 500cc category other than CForce 500s or CForce 625s. Why im messaging U about that, is because i might have an option of import from US to Poland basically for free and i also have a cousin who lives in Pennsylvania near Stroudsburg. I thought a lot about my options and i think the best solution would be to get used one in a great condition from 2021+ simply because if i buy a new one then I cannot take advantage of the warranty. How popular are CF Motos there? Is it possible to buy one? Price for a used Cforce 500s 2021 in Poland is $7,000...

Could this be another KLR650 situation? Remove it from the market for a year or two while it gets a complete overhaul, then bring it back? I don't know much about Can-Am, but that move seems to be a popular one (and one I hope to see happen to the DRZ400 soon). While I agree with you that 4x4's don't offer the same feel on the trails from my recent experience with both types of quads, I know now how much independant rear suspension and much greater ground clearance impact trail riding. And, well... 4x4 modes. I think if I was in my early 20's again I would have tried to make my 6'3 self fit on a sport ATV better. However, now in my early 40's my priories and need to be able to walk the next day have lead me in the direction I'm going. And honestly I feel like I can ride just as hard as I did on the solid axle as I do on the 4x4 and be 100x more comfortable and able to ride longer / further. If I had a groomed dirt track or dunes near by, I would absolutely have a solid axle still, but for the riding that I have in my area now, a couch with enough power to get me trouble is just fine.
@DirtObseXXion
@DirtObseXXion Год назад

I am a Can Am dealer in VT The 650 Outlander was my best selling ATV for the past decade. Granted the 570 took a few of those buyers due to price. But moving a customer to an 850 is close to $1500 bump in same model… I just don’t see why
@DirtObseXXion

Awesome to have that feedback from a dealer! It makes total sense to me that the 650 would be the best seller, and honestly the 650 renegade seems like it could potentially be harder for dealerships to move.. The target market is younger more aggressive riders who are less likely to have the means to buy a new machine, and no DPS will take will take it out of contention for more seasoned folks... I am a little conflicted in my thoughts tbh. The 570 renegade is a great trail machine at a good price point for the less aggressive rider who just wants to get out and have a good trail machine and has no need for big power AKA my wife lol. that being said i have taken it on the trails myself and it can be a blast! The 650 being more expensive and the cheapest Renegade available will put some people off I think who are looking for affordable. The 650 is definitely an upgrade but the higher price may not be worth it for some people . as far as Raptor vs Renegade, well.... I think people who want a sport quad will buy a Raptor ultimately unless they are new to atvs and don't know what they are getting into and do not do enough research. Going from my Raptor to my wifes 570 Renegade is like going to a different planet. Even getting on my brothers 1000r xxc is nothing like riding a Raptor or any sport quad. You are not flicking a Renegade around with it pushing 800lbs. You immediately feel the size and weight of a Renegade as soon as you climb on top of one. Both great machines with 2 totally different abilities regardless of power. With all this being said. I will be on my raptor as long as my body allows it. I can see my self in retirement age traveling and exploring on a Renegade 1000r or Scrambler 1000 xp however as they beet up your body less. Great video as usual, keep em coming!

4wd would be easier to work out than the rear trailing arm suspension.. We get that kind of comment a lot about CVT ATVs but the challenge would be running a chain or shaft to the rear differential. That's why manual clutches work on sport quads but not big 4x4s.. Sport quads have a rear sprocket on a solid axle, but independent axles on 4x4s make that implausible.. There's just not enough room for one unless it's Honda's DCT style transmission which isn't very fun on an ATV..

All depends on the temperament of the rider, meaning "what do you mean by being 'challenged?'" This goes beyond riding styles and where the rider wants to ride. There will never be a replacement (as far as I'm concerned) for manual transmission. If I had it my way, manual transmissions would be the only option for everything that moved. Okay, I'm being hyperbolic, but only barely. Thrills can be had on any machine. Hell, I could buy a 1986 Honda 125 and have a blast on it because it comes with its own challenges and having no suspension can be hilarious. It's more than just speed that excites us. Its the experience; the challenge. For those that don't particularly care for any thrills, challenges, or "O-M-G, can-I-actually-do-this" moments, a CVT is fine. They're also fine for those who have big enough balls that require a big-bore to haul them. But the manual is glorious because it delivers the absolute most while requiring the absolute most to receive the delivery. That's satisfying in a way that a "punch-'n-go" will never be able to mimic.

I just hope it’s not a sign of another manufacturer slowly backing out of ATV power sports due to any stupid freaking Left greenie environment BS. If I ever go back to big power it’s hands down going to be an outlander 1000R. I don’t like that you have to get the XT-P to get the locking front end . It should come standard on all their 4x4s. Don’t like those money grabs. As far as the 650 Rene being faster than a new brute 750 that’s probably be an interesting race . The 2012+ brutes are considerably faster than 2011-. I had them all. Stock my 2012 would do 75mph and 0-40 in a mad rush . After tune and true dual exhaust it’d break all 4 stock tires loose on asphalt . I’m not saying it’d win but I think that would be a very fun drag race . I know my old 650i 2006 brute would run dead heat with a friends 650 Outty back then , but would get walked after about 45-50 mph and topped out at 68 mph. I’ve found the new KQ to be more fun ripping than I thought it’d be lol. It’s fairly balanced coming off the ground . Keep the content coming .

Thanks Joe!! I remember drag racing an Outlander with my 16 Grizzly.. It was fairly close, they pulled the line, I pulled mid way through... I was like, damn those 570s are legit.. Dudes like, this is a 450.. Anyway those Rotax motors are pretty serious.. Im with you, if I went back to a 1000 it would be an Outlander.. Unfortunately the base suspension sucks, goes soft really fast, so the XTP is worth the upgrade for the shocks alone...

@@DirtObseXXion lmao 🤣 that’s funny man. “ Uh eh Bro it’s a 450” hahaha lol I’ve become a major fan of Rotax over the last decade . They are fantastic engines that punch well above their weight class ! The 570 is a dead heat with the new KQ 750. Sucks but it’s true . Coop mod would probably help the KQ get out of the hole first . What’s your opinion on the ‘22 outlander 650 M.O. edition? I’ve been checking it out compared to the Japanese lineup, and it has the most features for the price that I’ve seen. With it exactly how I want it, the MSRP is $13,149 without taxes, etc. I’ve never seen anyone with a M.O. edition online except on forums and dirt trax.
