Here's some relavent 2023 career advice for those of you not happy on your current career path...
1 - Learn something new. Invest in yourself. Learn / grow.
2 - Do the extra work. Volunteer to do the extra work - it will not go unnoticed and your peers will begin to ask YOU how to do things...which will eventually find it's way to management and if you play your cards right then you'll climb the ladder faster than others. The degree to which the largest chunk of the labor pool is getting lazier and lazier is increasing by the day. Make yourself stand out by doing the extra work that nobody else wants to do....it'll only make you better/faster/stronger than others because....you'll be gaining more experience faster than them. Play chess, not checkers.
3 - Plan your exit. Do a 360 review over this decision and discover as many answers as possible or at least know what the short term / long term ramifications are based on this decision.
