Just bought the 2023 High Country 3.0 Duramax in Northsky Blue. We love it! We took a 5000 mile road trip (literally right off the Dealer lot) from Arizona to New York and back. Zero issues. went through 12.5 Gallons of DEF, and got an average of 25.6 MPG with an average of 56 MPH (with 20-30mph headwinds 70-80% of the time.) Very comfortable, quiet, powerful and reliable. Tech is more than adequate.

Todd that is some great numbers other than the DEF. Just got my 2023 LTZ last week. Replaced the 2021 Silverado RST that had the 3.0. DEF seems a little high compared to what I was seeing in the 2021.

If GM still had the 4.3L V6 they could pair it to their 8 speed transmission to help with the highway mpg. I think the trucks they are selling lately are overpriced and won’t have good longevity.

Loved my 3.0 before my issues:( sadly had to get rid, GM took care of me tho. Now have a new 2022 6.2 and love it. Miss the mpg of the diesel, wish I could have ordered another at the time! But wasn’t available, I just happen to have the one lemon and I’d still tell anyone to buy one! Just an emissions system issue with mine they could not resolve after several attempts, once deletes become available I’ll have another!

They took care of me by buying my vehicle back and essentially allowing me to build a new truck damn near cost free. Local laws require me to pay sales tax/registration/state fees. Bought the 2020 3.0 for 46k ish, they bought it back at that same price, I built a 55k sticker price RST with a 6.2 and paid $2200 for the costs mentioned above. I was lucky and one of the few with severe issues with the exhaust system.

With how good the new baby Duramax is, I can't help but think that GM really dropped the ball in not offering it in the Colorado/Canyon. Given that they are only offering the four cylinder, it's likely that they can't add it later if they wanted to. People who I have spoken to with the diesel in Colorado/Canyon LOVE them & I know I'd very serious look at that combo with my next vehicle purchase.

I'm really looking forward to my '23 RST Double Cab with the LZ0 to come in. For the last three years I've been driving an '18 Canyon with the 2.8L diesel, and it's been a great truck, but I've had to put two turbos on it within the ~30k miles I've owned it due to ice ingestion (UP of Michigan and it do not get along). Now that the warranty is up, it's time to move up to a full size. When I test drove one at the local dealer I was just blown away, the 2.8 in the Canyon has a ton of throttle lag, the 3.0 does not. For something that's going to get comparable MPG, I think I'm going to be very happy. I doubt I'll replicate the 50 mile 38mpg average the Canyon got, but I had to really work for that.

@@jaysson1151 Yes, most of the time. I don't notice much difference when going down to 87, but I'm mostly running 91. It's defiantly a strong motor but just doesn't have the low end torque "feel". On the highway it is 100% a beast!
@jaysson1151
@jaysson1151 Год назад
@@shanerides that’s awesome. That’s one thing I’m kind of leery of with the 3.0 Dmax… yes it seems like a beast from 0-60, but how well does it do from 60-90? Does it fall on its face when trying to pass a slow truck or snowbird? I’ve been spoiled by my 2012 F150 3.5 for the past 10 years with its effortless acceleration, ‘okay’ fuel economy, and 36 gallon tank. Just wish GM offered a fuel tank upgrade for the trucks… 24 gallons for gas and 22 for diesel is beyond pitiful.

I've never had a diesel. I have a 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 LTZ Z71 with just about every option except auto running boards and I have the 5.3 V8. Been a great truck so far but I'm wanting a 2023 High Country. My plan is to get either the 6.2 V8 (which I've also never had before) or the diesel. I've been leaning more and more into the 6.2. How does the diesel compare to the 6.2 and which would you choose between those 2?
@lyfeofmeej168
@lyfeofmeej168 Год назад
I would definitely recommend the diesel! Definitely go drive both. The 6.2 is sweet but GM heavily detunes them to get decent mileage. The 6.2 in my camaro feels pretty sluggish unless I really punch it. The diesel gets the torque at lower RPMs so it will “feel” faster. And of course mpg will be way higher
@shanebrown2963
@shanebrown2963 Год назад
Diesel over the 6.2 every day! Better power, torque and better mpgs. In the 6.2 you have to run premium fuel so there isn’t that much difference at the pump and with the better mpgs of the diesel it’s a wash. And if you ever town anything it’s huge over a gas motor. Maintenance isn’t much more and resale on the diesel will be way better. It’s a no brainer. It’s the best motor option in the half ton segment out of all the manufacturers I think. It will be my next truck simply because of that motor and I’ve been driving a tundra since 08.
