College decisions... college decisions. They're random, complex, paradoxical, and come down to so many disparate factors that somehow overlap or relate to factor into the "equation" or "formula" or whatever it is people claim is used to decide who gets into an institution and who doesn't. Anyway, whatever I just wrote is to advise you to take my decisions with a grain of salt because no matter how much I overshare in the future, no one can understand or perceive the full picture or my story and know what it was that got me accepted, rejected, or waitlisted. And dumbed down, college decisions, which are unpredictable and multidimensional, will vary almost as much as human beings do. So, don't compare. Just take this as a case study and take something helpful out of it!

Great video and huge congratulations to you. Watching the scenes ensuing your acceptance to USC was awesome! I do have one question. You applied to majors like neuroscience and cognitive science, but also to the pre-dental program at UOP, so what is the career/field you are shooting for? I'm also looking to go into the medical field as a '24, so I'm just curious.

Hi! So, I was pre-health (at the time, I was in between being pre-med and pre-dent), but in the mean time, I was most interested in pursuing biology/neuroscience as my major for undergrad because I really enjoyed AP Bio and Psych and did some research and worked to write a review paper with a UCLA professor and PhD student! I’ve always also gravitated towards science.

Hello! I am a bit curious about your study techniques for getting your 1500 on the SAT. I’m a sophomore and would like to be able to prepare! Any tips would be appreciated! :))
@amampersanda
@amampersanda 5 месяцев назад
Hi! So the majority of my studying was taking practice exams, grading them, then finding patterns in what was correct and reading or learning each answer explanation. I would categorize each type of question I got wrong and record somewhere either on a doc or spreadsheet. 1. I think first I would take a diagnostic practice exam maybe through khan academy because it is easiest and you don’t have to print. (It’s less friction, especially for a first step.) I would review everything I got wrong and I think khan academy categorizes the questions for you. I might practice more of exactly what I got wrong using practice questions on khan academy (sometimes these aren’t totally accurate, though) 2. I would also start reading a book that may be harder to understand and New Yorker orThe Atlantic articles. 3. I would go on the SAT subreddit that has PDFs of all past exams and I’d print and take them over and over. Each time putting the most intention in grading and trying to find patterns and reasoning in the SAT. Remember, the SAT is mostly about simplicity and common sense so don’t try to rationalize wrong choices! 4. During this, I would watch RU-vidrs who explain questions (math walkthroughs and reading/writing answer reasoning). 5. It might be useful to have an SAT tutor or do a class to keep you accountable but you really don’t need to either. I did however do an SAT summer class and had a tutor for a bit. 6. Once I had reached my target score or fifty points within it, I would schedule an exam. The time pressure before allowed me to maintain a more rigorous study schedule the month approaching exam day. 7. Most of it is time and as long as you are spending time to consciously improve, you will! Anyway, best of luck and skill! You can reach out to me again if you have any questions. I might’ve forgotten a few tips, so I might make a more comprehensive video.

Hi congratulations for ur dental program , asking for my son that is it mandatory to take biology as a subject in 11 th and 12 th to persue medicine in UG
@amampersanda
@amampersanda 3 месяца назад
Hi! It is not mandatory to take biology in 11th or 12th grade. However, having AP Biology and putting lots of effort to do well in it during high school, I am now able to be one of the top students in biology as an undergraduate. I highly recommend to take it!

@@kalyanilaxmi4559 Hi, Kalyani! I would just say that the essays take a lot of time and to continually revise and leave breaks showers and meals to think about the story you’re trying to share more. The essays are one of the only ways to portray/express yourself, so it is important to be as vulnerable as appropriate and be your best self-advocate. I would say to have at least two people review it and give you feedback on both convention/flow and the story and whether it is representative enough of who you are. I actually have a video reading my USC admitted essays if you want to check that out!

@@sailuvijl6621 Hi! I think that the program is pretty good: it gives you a track and keeps you committed to the predental path and prepares you well to matriculate into dental school either the UOP Dugoni School of a dentistry in San Francisco or any other dental school! It definitely is an advantage because you are guaranteed an interview as long as you meet contract requirements. I might make a video discussing it soon. However, it is a very small private college in Stockton. So, consider it holistically. I would say to be very cautious with which college to ultimately attend. In other words, I would warn to only go here if you’re in the program and want more than anything to become a dentist and are sure. There are trade offs and sacrifices that no one talks about.
