After winning Japan Cup and retired to stud soon after, we can look back at Equinox's career and this race, Dubai Sheema Classic, stood out the most for me. He led from the front (something he very rarely did throughout his career) and blew away a world class field while still on the bridle in track record time. That was beyond extraordinary and we'll most likely never see a horse like this ever again.
Equinox took over a full second off the track record set by Mishriff, and did it without coming off the bridal or without Christophe Lemaire ever having to ask him for what could be considered anything close to a real run. And lest we forget, in doing so being eased down he still laid to waste a field that included the likes of a former Irish Derby winner, a former Breeders Cup Turf winner, a former Dubai Sheema Classic winner, and a former Hong Kong Vase winner to name a few. His cruising speed on the front end in this race was absolutely effortless and a thing of beauty to watch.
Wow how good is this horse I just watched the 4th win the royal ascot beating a veary strong line up So I just had to watch this race No doubt he is best in the world
