Ready to take on the planet, as well as the 30-litre tank rivals, is the 2023 #ducati #multistrada V4 Rally edition with its bigger fuel tank, longer travel suspension, cylinder deactivation, and upgraded rider aids. But could this be the most versatile #motorcycle Ducati has ever made?
Michael Mann went to the press riding launch in Sardinia and found Chad there too, so they both shared their views.

After not riding for 25 years and a previous HD Electric Glide owner I have decided to you into the Adventure Bike Category. Have now have test drove both the GSA and Rally V4. The Ducati is a better bike for me but not by much. The Rally seems to ride better and seems to handle lighter. The power of the Ducati is much more and much smoother at high speeds.

I had both and I donated my R1250 GSA to charity after the Rally arrived. The Rally is a better bike in its handling, has the adaptive cruise control, fully adjustable riding modes, and is very responsive. The GSA is fine but is more like the tank of ADV riding. I look forward to comparisons of the Rally to the R1300 GSA next year.

Im old enough to remember when most roads where I lived were dirt or gravel. So, with all due respect, when did riding off-tarmac become riding off road?
@runarmagnusson
@runarmagnusson Год назад
Exactly. It seems like most road in my home country (Iceland) were "offroad" when I was growing up. And I have done a lot of riding on street bikes and cruisers and such roads (And worse) .Always laugh a bit when I see people going "offroad" like that on their expensive, "offroad" capable adventure bikes. 😅

@@runarmagnusson haha when I was in Indonesia, every old lady was tearing it up "offroad" on gravel roads like these on 125cc scooters all day

Couldnt have put it better. Most "offroads" shown/ridden these days by most motorcyclists are better than our Indian city roads in the monsoon by a large degree...!!! :)

The off-road ability is wildly overstated on these things unless you're riding with a support vehicle. Back in the day, I got my built 1990 DR650 stuck in a boggy section of single track. Even at 175kgs or so, I couldn't get it out by myself, which I could typically do with proper enduros. A 10km walk back to the main road, and another couple to a house to call a friend to help me get it out. Finally got home at something like 5am. These are the two wheel equivalent of the Chelsea tractor.

Looks interesting, I’ve wondering how big the panniers are and can you fit a full face lid in both or either?

@@mastadriver I'm no GS fan but you'd be a mug to buy a Multi V4 at that mileage. I mean BMW are hardly renowned for reliability nowadays but I'd keep the 1200/1250 if it's a good un.

So magnetic tank bags again like the old sportbikes? 🙂
@leegreen67

Aluminium, so no, not magnetic
@mweingar
@mweingar 9 месяцев назад
no due to aluminum and I wouldn't even recommend it as the shape of the tank doesn't lend itself to a tank bag anyway. I tried. It sucked.

You probably have to get one with a filler cap adapter. That may be something that would work.

Coming to a dealership near you soon with 2800 miles on it. But don't keep outside of PCP warranty or do more than 20k. And make sure you tell everyone in the office how 'adventurous' you are. Think I'm full of shit? I own a 2017 Ducati 1200 so I know the reality.
@TeslasSecret
@TeslasSecret Год назад
True, but I guess that could be said about most high-end bikes these days, ADV or not and regardless of brands. One acquaintance of mine couldn’t stop raving about how his GSA could do 300 miles on a single tank and that guy barely does 2.5K miles a year…

@@TeslasSecret Hearing that Mate! The issue is is I'm being priced out of what was not that long ago a very affordable market for me. ABS and CC yep, I'll have, but the rest of the tech is either trying to keep a way too powerful bike on the road or pointless stuff car drivers want. And don't get me started on the bullshit that one needs 1200cc to tour. Funny how you're always caught behind them?! Just like cycling I'm not a fan of ponces ruining it for everyone.

@@I_am_Thursday Couldn’t agree more. Have you seen Ducati’s price increase on the V2 ? Here, in France, it starts at over 20.5K€. Great bike, I’m sure, but come on… A mate of mine bought a 1200 Pikes Peak new in 2016 for 23K€ including a termi pipe, and that was considered extravagant at the time, for legitimate reasons. With that said, there are still great bikes to be had if one’s looking around. My Ninja 1000SX was 15K€ including panniers, heated grips and a nice Akra slip-on. Quite a lot of bike for that much. Guzzi’s latest V100 can also be found at reasonable new prices if you shop around a little. I never liked any of the ADV or ADV-styled bikes I tried so I’m not as aware of the market, but yeah… Excess seems to be the name of that game. I agree about cycling following a similar trend as well, and don’t get me started on e-bikes…

Starting at 24 thousand pds ,Ducati you have lost your mind.Way to expensive. I speak from 10 yrs of Ducati ownership of a Multistrada 1200 S A great pity one of their dealers is a complete moran..treats the bike owners with contempt I took my 1 year old 1260 Enduro to the main dealer in Slovenia to have its first service done.last June 2022 Turns out they let a 16 yrs old schoolboy on work experience work on my bike draining the oil etc . At some stage he damaged the treads on the oil sump,They refused to repair the damage until I agreed to pay for the damage they caused. I was furious they had a gun to my head I had to agree to pay ..Little option to get my bike back. The joke was no mechanic on site was capable of doing the repair. The bike was loaded into a van and taken 2 miles, to the Yamaha dealer to do the repair. I went with the bike. I was told on route ,all serious complex repairs are taken to the Yamaha dealer. That speaks volumes ref the quality of service mechanics they employ. The damage repair cost me 90 euros.Plus 4 hrs of extra time wasted. To date I never got an apology or offer of warranty on the repair from the Ducati dealer.They seem to think it's ok to damage my expensive bike I contacted Ducati head quarters in Italy to my shock ,and surprise they took no action ref the schoolboy damaging my bike. He should never have been allowed to touch the bike from minute one. I still paid full hourly rate for a stupid boy to do damage.to a very expensive 1 yrs old bike with under 3000 miles on the speedo. Had I the means I would sue their ass off through the courts. Fellow riders out there I would like to hear your opinion on this nightmare inflicted on me. J.A I
