I am very confused over this. I own the 22 v4sp streetfighter and run the absolute crap out of it. After a ton of miles it's literally perfect everytime. Most reliable and fast bike I have owned.
My SP1 is giving me nightmares. Been with the dealer for 3 months now trying to fix a gearbox QS fault. QS, L side rear set, dry clutch assembly been replaced and now they going to open the engine. I’ve asked for a replacement or refund.
I'm surprised by this. I reckon the person saying about the factory fix may be on to something, but it could also be a simple sensor. I feel a bit gutted for you. You went from absolutely loving the SP2 to utter hatred. I still want one, so I am praying that you can sort it and regain your admiration and stop making me nervous to go ahead and order one. Keep posting videos buddy. 🏴👍
I'm on my second Streetfighter V4 , an SP2 now, no problem for now. Why u don't try to figure it out with the dealer ? I've changed my personal ducati dealer and I'm having 0 problems with the new one.
I had a similar issue with mine, not sp2 i have a v4s. If i opened it up in 2nd it would almost go into a limp mode and lose rpm and speed. Took it back to the dealer when i got a recall notice and they reflashed the ECU and it completely fixed the issue.
I have read somewhere that there is a software that limits your rpm until you reach a certain mileage with the bike. It is there to protect the engine. Generally you should not rev it high until you do 5000+ km on the bike (I do not know Ducati's limits). So maybe it is just the software protecting the new fresh engine.
Yup… the bike is limited until they remove it at the first service. I know KDP did his first service but not sure he took it to the dealer to get the limiters removed. But all speculation here. Curious to know what the issue was.
5000+km would be insane. Almost all bikes have a break-in period of 600 miles some bikes do not let you go past a certain rpm others let you go as fast as you want but it is not advised. Simply put 600 miles break-in period is standard after that you take it to your dealer and they do the first service and remove the rpm limiter (if there was one) and now you can go all out on your bike.
The dealer didn’t go into detail with me, but they mentioned they’d be removing limiters at the first service. And the manual says 1000 km to the first service and to keep it under 5500 rpm and to never exceed 6000 rpm…. At least for the SP but guessing the SP2 is the same.
Hey Buddy, how's this SP2 going now? It's been a while since you updated us all, and I went and got me an SP1 with a full system since your last video.
Hey! I apologize for being a bit in the dark lately. Life caught up to me for a little and have been handling that. Congrats on the SP! They are absolutely brilliant with the full system! A small update, The bike has been sorted since this video. The issue was a faulty fuel pump not delivering fuel when demanded. As I increased throttle the bike would just lean itself out and not make any power. I'll have some more detailed videos on it eventually. Thank you for the encouragement of continuing to post, it really does mean a great deal.
@KDPcycles hey, no need for apologies. I'm glad to hear you got it sorted. I was a bit sad for you, I could hear your frustration with it. However, your previous videos were the selling point for me. Any bike that makes you laugh that loud is going to be fun. I was going to order a new V4s, then I heard you talking about the carbon wheels, open clutch, etc. I saw an SP1 that was one of the last as it is No.1364 out of 1500. It had everything from the parts catalogue and was registered on Feb 2023. It was only £3000 dearer than the new v4s. So I now have a very nice SP1...... I live in Glasgow, Scotland, UK, and it's currently 4 below freezing outside. I've had it 3 weeks, and it's far too cold for a run. I'm not sure that 197 rearwheel hp is a good idea on ice.! I look forward to your next video, but not as much as I am looking forward to a sunny Scottish day! Ride safe buddy. 🏴👍
Man I wonder what's wrong with ur sp ,I have a 22 v4s bought brand new and I do all the maintenance (it has not been to the dealer at all after I got it ) and I'm at 10k miles and I'm taking it to the track for the first time next week ,hopefully u find the issue and let us all know
The reaction is hilarious... i appreciate it sucks but the issues that happened is shit but the way you pushed it while it was leaning out the engine because of the fuel pump, you are going to have a lot more issues now. I have been riding and racing cars and bikes for 20 years when something happens like that, you don't push it, causing more damage.
WTF that't nuts man! My new SP2 will do well over 100 without even trying. I sure hope they can figure this out for you. It's almost like a knock sensor (not sure if bikes have these) is pulling all the timing and throttle position out of it.
I had 2 Monsters 821 Stealth and 1200s and hade absolutley 0 problems. Only one thing that I had on both bikes, Fuel level indicator needed to be replaced. And now I have bought an SF SP1 but I have not ride it yet. To bad weather where I live :(
