Review and head to head comparisons of the all-new 2023 Easton Ghost Unlimited (-10) and both the 2022 Easton Ghost (-10) and 2021/22 Rawlings Mantra (-10) fastpitch softball bats.

Please note that the posted results are not to be taken as scientific proof of how each bat will perform for everyone. There were a number of variables to consider during my hitting sessions with each bat (e.g. quality and location of practice pitches, weather conditions, etc.)
Also, please forgive me for labeling the "purchase years" in this video as opposed to the model years (i.e. "2022 Ghost Unlimited" and "2021 Easton Ghost" when they are actually model years 2023 and 2022 respectively).

This was an incredibly thorough and greatly appreciated review of these bats. As a softball dad who doesn't have all the money in the world but wants the advantages bats like this can offer, I really needed this! Keep up the great work, Emily and thank you!

Amazing review! :-) My daughter has one (shes 13 and power hitter) this bat is seriously HOT... Bought it 9/23/22 and cracked it this weekend at an indoor tourney. With that said though, she hits 3x a week about 100 balls or so every time, SO the bat actually lasted longer than we thought! GREAT BAT!!! her replacement bat will be a game only :-) again, great review!! thanks!

Thank you for the kind words. I like the idea of it being a game-only bat. That's how I treat mine; it never sees a pitching machine, weighted Total Control Balls, or any practices in general. I have a four year old Easton Mako that takes all the punishment from those exercises.

@@emilynadeau11 totally agree, if it's machine balls, she's using her CF, I was kind of interested to see how long the unlimited lasted with live. Longer than I thought tbh

Thank you for the kind words. The camera used for all the video shown was a GoPro HERO8 Black. I plan to do a brief follow-up video on the Ghost Unlimited within the next two weeks.

Great reviews. After your summer season, how did the Unlimited do? Do all 3 feel balanced or do any feel heavier or more end-loaded? I am wary of purchasing a Ghost and my daughter loves Xenos, but she tried the Mantra and the Unlimited and loved them both. She is an 8th grader on a 14UB team that will hopefully be an A team by 2023 Spring/Summer.

Thank you! To be honest, I only used the Unlimited for part of two tournaments. It's not that I disliked the bat, it's just that I am more comfortable and confident with the regular Ghost at this time. I'm sure there will be some events this fall where I'll start to incorporate the Unlimited more often in an effort to save my regular Ghost for the more important events. When I did use the Unlimited, four of my six hits were fly balls over 215'. One out was was a hard line drive to the right fielder on the fly, and the other was a fly out around 190-200'. As for balance, the Mantra, Ghost, and Unlimited all feel very balanced with a drop 10, much unlike the Xeno. A good friend and current college player picked up my Mantra this past weekend and stated that she couldn't believe how light it felt -- and she uses a bat specific for slap hitting. I really never noticed the weight of the Mantra being that different from others. If you are wary of purchasing Ghosts, then I'd stay away from the regular model. If you want to be on the safer side in terms of durability, maybe consider the Mantra. It's excellent for pitch speeds

Thank you! I'll update my experiences (including durability) periodically in the description section of this video. My summer season has concluded and we will be starting back up for the fall season in early September. I plan to post some updates in late September and October.

Only asking about durability because my daughter has the ghost advanced last years model and we had it crack 3 times during the warranty.. and $450 is a tough price tag for a years worth of ABs

It's unlikely that I'll do a review on DeMarini. Sorry. There are a few reasons for that: 1) I've been an Easton/Rawlings girl for over eight years now and with college starting in less than a month, I don't see any significant bat or glove changes in my future. 2) I purchase my bats solely for competition and not reviews. I wouldn't buy a bat I have no intention of using during a game or tournament. 3) I shouldn't need a bat replacement/new model for at least a year from now. Any reviews I do for the remainder of this year will be glove-related.

Do you recommend ghost advanced, or the 2023 ghost unlimited?

I would recommend the Unlimited. Even though I had some success with the deep ball using the Advanced, I really never liked the bat. I didn't like the grip, I didn't like the way it felt, and I didn't like the feedback when hitting a ball. I haven't spent too much time with the Unlimited (I think only eight tournament at-bats), but I immediately liked it better than the Advanced. With the Unlimited, I found the sweet spot to be noticeably longer than the other Ghosts. Also, the fact that it's a one piece design *should* make it more durable than the two-piece Advanced, but only time will tell. I hope to spend a lot more time with it in the weeks to come as I gear up for my upcoming fall season.
