for me, trends are something to take inspo from, but they never make me throw out “out of date” pieces or change what i like lol. like, if i see something new i hadn’t considered before, cool! might incorporate it! but no matter how many times it becomes trendy, i will never enjoy fringe 😂
omg tights is the thing i have been looking for like the funky ones but my legs are really thick so its limited i cant even find tights in my size because im just really curvy thats kind of my problem im really curvy so my fashion is very confined because nothing will fit me correctly ALSO WOW ALL OF THESE ARE PART OF THE FASHION I LOVE?? guess im more main stream then i thought bec i literally love all of these like the poiny shoes and ballet shoes and very cool flowery 3d lacey thing and it has been my favorite for a while im so glad i finally see someone else liking this kind of stuff
I am soory, I hate hate hate HATE ballet-core and coquet, I do. ballet and ballet-core gives me second hand embarrassment. Coquet just mkaes me feel gross, it feels like fetishization of children to me. But like thats just my opinion pthers have their own opinions and that ok with me.
2010s fashion is ROUGH but I'm just counting down the days to when we are all wearing flower crowns again I literally still have mine from 2014 and I still love them
I just wanna say thank you for finding example images with different body types. I’m not sure if you did that intentionally but it sucks sometimes when you try to watch fashion content and only see the same traditionally thin body type. Helps me decide what trends I wanna try too!!💕💕💕
for real! i literally have a board on pinterest that i save outfits to w/ girls that kinda have a similar body type to me wearing them cause it makes me feel represented..it's nice.
I SO BAD want the fishnet under ripped jeans trend to come back I still wear it all the time buuut I feel like it just looks too good for more people to not be enjoying it
I'm hoping the 2014 tumblr aesthetic comes back, the knee socks, tennis skirts, band tees, Arctic Monkeys AM logo, all that. Everybody moved on, I stayed there.
I so agree! The only thing I don’t really prefer from it are the tennis skirts- I just think if you’re really short, they always hit at awkward lengths. Being 4’10”, all my old tennis beskirted photos from back in the day look a little ill fitted. And I owned a lot of them, lol. But I basically still wear the 2014 tumblr uniform all the time, subbing out a straighter skirt style. My most controversial 2010’s opinion- I still think the high waisted, super skinny jeans from the time can be really cute and I can see why we loved them. Saw a goth girl rocking them just a few weeks ago, she looked so good it made me realize I wouldn’t mind still having a pair!
I love you for this ugh, me and my boyfriend talk about this alllll the time, and I feel like with losercore it is coming back, or maybe we are just trending online lol, either way, I love it and miss it and would love to see a full come back, and ironically, the hashtag #2014tumblr is super popular among teenagers, so there is absolutely hope for a revival
@@Evearko high waisted pants no matter the style will always be near and dear to my heart, especially as someone also short, 5’0, I love the illusion of length they give my legs and the vintage aesthetic, muah, all of my pants are still various forms of high waisted fabrics and denims, including skirts!!
I don't know why I love so much the post-apocalyptic style. Every time I see pictures I just find it so cool ! It's not even what I wear since I usually wear more colorful stuff, but I would like to try this style as well I guess
As I said on another channel, the “underwear as pants” trend won’t be around too long. I give it less than a year. It’s so impractical and ridiculous. Once the hype and fascination wears off and people have had a chance to try to incorporate them into their wardrobe they’ll realize how unwearable it is. It’s not conducive to the everyday lifestyle and won’t be a timeless piece of fashion because of that. The bloomers have more leeway because they have more coverage and are a bit more practical, but even those are still a reach.
I hate it although it seems like one of those trends that seems batshit crazy now but in a few years it’ll be enhanced and everybody will be wearing it. Kind of like how girls stopped wearing bras in the 70s, then they did in the 80s and finally 20 years later in the 90s it’s a bra less nation lmao
A reach? That seems kind of emotionally charged, I’m with you on trends happening to quickly and it’s silly when they’re impractical but it’s just clothes. A lot of people have been invested in both lingerie outerwear and 18th century “underwear” (bloomers, corset covers etc) for some time now, I would just keep that in consideration if you see inspo pics of it and wonder why people seemingly take trends to so far one way that seem impractical. I just sit out trends if they don’t suit me, I don’t really get the point of being reactive towards it. Just offer my perspective, not trying to be mean.
After rereading it I see that you’re coming from a place of frustration that people aren’t choosing timeless pieces, I’m with you on that- I think everyone should consider the amount of waste they produce for the vanity of aesthetics. But I would invite you to consider that lingerie is kind of timeless depending on how it’s worn, I actually kind of like that there’s for once trends that are about repurposing pieces and just worn a different way instead of buying new ones- like for example the lace see through baby tee. You could easily layer it! I also think it’s important to remember what’s timeless in one persons closet won’t be the same for another. I am forever in love with Edwardian fashion and happy to see it being incorporated in todays fashion with bloomers and such. I’m rambling now on a comment that probably won’t be read but idk felt the need to say it. Kind of bums me out to see people get angry about things that bring other people joy. Wonder why that happens seemingly frequently with RU-vid / tiktok discourse. But I get your frustrations with micro trends and over consumption.
I can agree with your take that the current 'underwear as pants' trend coming and going quick but I disagree with the bloomers not being a timeless piece, because honestly timeless only counts on the clock you're counting on. For me bloomers are timeless, they are a staple piece and you can pry them out of my cold dead hands, granted I'm not a fan of the 'bloomers' that're mainly featured in trend right now (pretty sure those are more pettipants than bloomers), but I find bloomers can be a great outlet for a lot of different little details (ex- lace inserts, pin tucks, ruffles) that more conventional shorts just aren't.
Yesss mermaidcore feels like it's definitely hot right now, and I'm here for it because it allows for a lot of extra accessorizing and sheer fabric layering. ✨I agree that the metallic looks are gonna be out, especially the moment summer comes around.
Same! It was such an enjoyable aesthetic and I kinda still am influenced by that because 2019 was when I actually started caring about my style so I was super influenced by that
Honestly, since corsets had a moment and princesscore is a thing right now, I would love to see some more historical underwear out there! Hoop skirts, bloomers, the full package!
i just recently started to understand what’s trendy but honestly i’m waiting for the bedazzled jeans to come back. it’s one of those things the 2010s made fun of but it’s the perfect amount of tacky for today. i give it a year before they’re spotted on bella lmao edit: i explained it poorly but i don’t mean come back in general because technically everything is back, but like come back in the way that everyone is wearing it, every brand is making it, dozens of tiktoks about crappy “dupes” on amazon, it’s THE thing to wear ya know
@@juli5945 that’s interesting. i guess they’re not super “in” right now but ya i’m sure ppl online are already wearing them because everything is being seen now
It’s less a trend than a overall movement/lifestyle, but I’m hoping mori kei makes a comeback! I wear it casually most of the time, and it’s super practical and comfy but also overlaps with a lot of recent/current trends so it feels like it coming back could be a natural progression! It is often cited as a precursor to cottagecore, it has lots of similarities to fairy-core/grunge, it uses lots of lace and crochet, skirts over pants, is generally very whimsical, and more! Plus j-fashion has been popular the past few years and mori is an OG harajuku street style. Imma keep wearing it regardless, but it would so cool for the style to become popular again!
i would definitely say this is in right now! just a bit indirectly. It has the brown/white lace, fur and knitting from the feminine style that's trending but the bagginess like other styles that have been popular the past 3 years. I totally also see how it's like cottage core (which has fallen quite drastically in popularity since 2020 but would still say leaves traces on the trends today). I agree that it'd be cool to see more people refer to it directly though, i haven't heard of the term since now, i would love to see some of your outfits if i can??
I feel like there's a lot more focus on silhouette again, with the tiny shorts and tops and shapes that create a certain figure, in contrast to 2020 where the body was hidden completely in bagginess. It has it's pros and cons (esp with the extreme bias for skinniness in fashion) but i'm definitely looking forward to feminine cuts, colors and fabrics when warmer weather comes around
i've been observing fashion trends since i was about 11 in 2004/5 and seeing skinny scarves and leg warmers coming back is honestly a mind-bogglling experience.
with all these new trends coming out i’m hoping you’ll make another video styling older fashion trends!💓 especially w the conversation of sustainability being such a hot topic
I hate how i literally “predicted” (not really intentionally) these trends so long ago just because I saved them on my Pinterest board, literally I became obsessed with camp clothes with sea inspiration and ruffles and shit like a year ago (like all obsessions I got over it) but damn. And in 2021 I had also predicted (unintentionally again, or maybe intentionally because Pinterest is truly the backbone for trends so algorithm influenced me?) The balaclava trend and the fluffy hat trend and fluff over all lol, since I live in the Southern Hemisphere I was looking for something to wear in winter and came across those pictures, and next thing you know December comes around and everybody is out there wearing balaclavas, fluffy hats and leg warmers
NO BC I DO THIS TOO. I accidentally find/get into trends a few years/months before they're in and then I'm mad that suddenly everyone is doing it lmfaoo
lmao i hate it when sth I like or start getting interested in gets trendy but oh well my likes and personal style lately has been constant so whatever i guess trends die faster nowadays too for better or most likely worse
The trend I want to see make a comeback (I'll love it, and wear it regardless), are slip dresses. So pretty. And on that theme, just wearing lingerie type clothing, into actual outfits. I think there are ways to make it wearable, with layering. Loved the video as always ❤
Hey i absolutely love your videos! I feel so inspired to be a cute fashion girlie after watching you 💞 You even made me buy one of those mix-matched flannel shirts lol
Isn't really a trend but my fav 2023 (and every year) fashion trend is watching every last one of katies lookbooks.. All my fashion girlies love katie 💜
I can assure you, you do not have broad shoulders. Not that broad shoulders are a bad thing and people with broad can still definitely wear off the shoulder, but you definitely don't belong in the broad shoulder category of people. I can specifically remember thinking when I first stumbled upon your videos that you have a more moderate to narrow frame
90s whimsigoth, i have no idea where to shop for it or how to style it but i love it sm and hopefully there’s be more content for it and thus more inspo!
I remember how good the selection of funky tights was at Target in the US during the 2000's. I miss them so much! I had a ton of fun layering colors and textures.
Would you be open to styling some gender neutral outfits in a video? I am afab nonbinary and I really like your style, plus I want to incorporate more skirts and girly things into my outfits, but super femme things can be really dysphoria inducing... I think it could be a fun challenge for you and I would love to see a video like that ^^ of course no pressure, I will continue watching your videos no matter what because they are amazing and I love your style and personality!
I love decorating my bags with charms and pins. I’ve been meaning to get a ita bag for years. Especially I like having plush keychains so I can squish them when I’m anxious 😅
Katie, you have perfect shoulders, trust me! Not too big, not too small,- just perfect! I love off-the-shoulder trend in all its variations, - 1950s, 1980s, 2000s....
Am I the only one who thinks that Bella Hadid usually just looks sloppy? If you saw someone who wasn't rich or famous (or dare I say it, model-skinny) dressed the way she does...you might wonder whether that person was doing alright half the time.
i feel the same way about off the shoulder tops lol. they just look off on me and i'm convinced it's because of a combination of my bad posture and my overall body/torso shape i'm so in love with these boxing shoes they look absolutely amazing to me but i just can't find anything like them anywhere and i've been looking for months now. the whole customization/decoration trend is also an absolute favorite of mine! i am a fan of "cluttered" looks in general tho so i guess that's no surprise
A "true" prediction, in the sense of a guess of what's to come with absolutely no signs, is not possible. That's one of the first things you learn when studying trends of any kind. You're picking up on signs and studying them, not magically seeing the future
I looove the way you styled your hair omg!!!! Also when you mentioned the post apocalyptic style I was thinking how would you look in those kinds of outfits and not in the exact way it looks in those pictures but if you tried to do it with pieces from your closet. Like imagine it in pastel purple. Or imagine if the apocalypse would actually happen what kind of outfit would you put on (that is also convenient) before you leave your house to never ever come back to it and travel through this new environment or whatever.
yeah i would love to see a cute but still practical apocalypse outfit. i don't understand why the current trend looks like all their clothes are falling apart and trailing pieces of fabric. that is not practical in an apocalypse situation. it will get caught on a bush or you'll step on it and trip over when running and then get eaten by the zombie horde smh
@@elvytica I think all the bits and pieces look cute but now that you said it I wonder what the idea behind the look of the trend is. Like who decided that apocalypse outfits look like that. Is it realistic? Would you be wandering around and find a scrap of textile and add it bc you're cold? Or for protection? Or are there rips because you're fighting? Maybe the textile is falling apart from the toxic air or whatever?
Now that I’m 35 I’m open to any new trend coming back , it doesn’t surprise me now that I’ve seen it all come and go for 30 years … but I think younger people will always have the stronger feelings of 😮oh no not galaxy print !!! (Trust me I agree ) but I also remember how my gen trashed flares and boot cut once we were in high school and it felt so easy to see something from 4-5 years prior as sooo dated … but something a little more dated… now that might be interesting… and thus the cycle goes on 🎉❤😅
I wanna see royal military/double breast jackets comeback. I think they were really cute as well as head pieces e.g. tiny top hats, fears in hair, slouchy hats etc.
i’m so glad you brought up how you saw some of these trends predicted YEARS ago cause sometimes i feel crazy seeing people say something is gonna trend when it’s been around in the fashion community for a while now😭
a specific shape that is getting more trendy for clothing recently is stars lol even in some of the pics that you showed in the video there was stars on the clothes and hats! i think it’s because of the rise of Y2K fashion, but I do like a good star so I’m not complaining 😂
Omg you’re the first fashion RU-vidr to say that wearing underwear/sheer clothing has been trending for the last decade; t h a n k y o u ; like, this isn’t new & it ain’t been new guys-
Yea thank you ! Art school girls were doing it late 2000s , started with tops , but if you were bold , 2009 you were wearing a floor length sheer skirt and a thong . Idk I’m from San Francisco… but it was also a thing in the 90s, 80s and 70s… but yea the 2010s revival of it was strong and I appreciate you guys bringing that up
I absolutely love love your videos!!! Your style and versatility is something I am inspired by as someone who can't chose just one aesthetic. I was wondering if you could style varsity jackets/bombers in a way that is interesting? A lot of outfits that I see are on the basic and plainer side, which is a cute look in itself, but I would love to see your version :)
Totally off topic but I just saw you styling two One Piece outfits in another video and I came here to say that I am REALLY hoping for you to either make a video on it or include a larger segment of that in another video. I totally loved it!!
I like taking inspo from trends, but honestly my overall style has stayed pretty consistent since I found a look that I love. Especially since you can make really anything stylish with accessories.
one trend i can really see happening is a collective obsession with velvet/velour fabrics. it's probably already deeply embedded within the y2k, princess/medievalcore, whimsigoth aesthetics but i've been really looking for velvet pieces lately!!
so my mom use to tell me things when i was s kid and i wouldnt believe her because i went to a uniform school and i now am wearing the things she told me look cool but what scared me about her being right is she told me there will be a point where everything is trending (now) and then everyone will dress basic again shes seen it happen more than once. i wonder if that will happen again when ppl are tired of dressing up a lot
Please take care of your health. Stop slouching. Form healthy posture habits. I’ve seen horrendous health consequences to those who let slouching become a habit into their middle age years. Please fix it while you are young and it’s early enough that you haven’t developed irreversible damage. It’s a difficult habit to break, so the earlier you start, the better chance you have.
Reminder trends always change sooo you should really just buy the ones you plan to wear for a while not to just buy into the hyped up clothes, accessories, shoes etc. Reminder you are great just being you and not trying to impress others ❤ Love ya
when you were talking about accessorizing bags i thought to my ita bag lol.. it's something i don't take with me often because it's a bit nerdy but thanks for mentioning them and im glad to see the style in trend!
the second pants to the left at 9:24 have been huntig me for months! I couldn’t find them on the brands website and I wasn't able to find similar ones..
