This one is showing the lingering smoke from several wildfires close to me.

We’ve seen some of the smoke from the Canadian fires here in the mountains of SW Va. Bad year for fires! Hope they stay well aware from your property. Take care of the knee

Looks like a typical California summer. Except we would see a jumbo jet DC-10 dropping fire retardant, which is a really awesome sight. Sorry about the poor air quality. On the bright side, it keeps the mosquitoes away.

Gary how about proper forestry Controls .Its the same people that say don't harm wild life by putting in fire control lanes that cause the fires to be out of control Living were you do you should under stand proper steps to eliminate out of control fires we have larges forests in Michigan but we perform proper state of the art forestry procedures like they do in Europe And they work some times you have to look at if all possible avenues of prevention have been applied I suggest in almost every major out of control situation more could have been done to stop or prevent out of control situation and I suggest you do your research on the Canadian fires you will find they almost to a fault do not perform latest forestry controls at all in there vast forestry just a different angle from Michigan
@grayfurnaceman
@grayfurnaceman 11 месяцев назад
You will get a strong argument about forestry management from the professionals. As for Europe, check out Italy this year. As for Michigan, you are also very dry, let's hope this does not happen there. The facts are that the current situation in grasslands and forests is critical. I have my own small grassland that is drier than it has ever been in my 34 years here. No amount of forestry management can protect us when it gets this dry. Global warming means more extreme weather events. More rain, more wind, hotter temperatures. This year we had more rain than usual in early summer, then double the time at high temps and low humidity. This will get beyond our control. GFM

@@grayfurnaceman I've had more rain in ontario canada this year. It's el-nino.

@@grayfurnaceman You could not be more wrong if you think proper forestry controls would not make a huge difference. I guess unlike California Michigan is not financially up side down and most of that is by choice so it is what it is what ever is important but the long and short Gary to suggest there's is nothing to do to protect and help eliminate some of these fires is totally wrong do some research
@paulcilluffo
@paulcilluffo 11 месяцев назад
Gary if you think rain is proper forestry is done by a act of God in the way of rain you really don't understand forestry although rain can be helpful what forestry managers do is totally different It has to do with control. Just like If some one starts the fire how big it can get is part of forestry guide lines and predetermined areas of stop gaps to contain the fire i can tell with certain that those procedures were not in place for most if not all of the Canada's fires . As you know Look up the fires near yellowfin in Canada ask those people what the government did to protect there property
@grayfurnaceman
@grayfurnaceman 11 месяцев назад
What I am telling you is global warming, by definition, means more extreme weather. You seem to think my mention of more rain means that it is forestry management. The point here is increased rain late in the spring can cause a larger than normal growth of brush and weeds. If followed by extreme heat, the risk of uncontrollable wildfires is also increased. This is exactly what happened where I live this year. I have fought fire here and have witnessed a fire jump over a river and more than 1/4 mile on the other side. If conditions are right, the fire is in control and is only stopped by environmental conditions. Any wind conditions above 40 mph will frustrate all efforts. Maui is a prime example. GFM

climate change is just a reality - always has been, always will be no matter what. have been in a bit of a warming period and have an el-nino on top of things messing up weather patterns. have to adapt and deal with it. there are better reasons to try and reduce fossil fuel consumption than climate hysteria - like resource depletion and pollution in general. in a way exclusively fixating on climate sends the message that there's no other reason over-consumption is a problem.

@@Username-qx9gk i know what he was subtly hinting at the end. ("do something about it, or else") btw bad forest management, intentionally setting fires, poor response can be things worse. they'll capitalize on anything to push the co2/global warming agenda and institute taxes, take away freedoms, etc - crap they want to do anyway.

There is no such thing as a greenhouse effect (except in an actual greenhouse (closed container)). Remember when 2 people were charged with arson when they got caught on camera setting fires in maui...... May 19, 2022. The fast fire response was able to get the fire under control in a couple hours. I am certain that they will try again this time the left wing government leaders will do what they can to make sure the fires are more destructive.
@Jon-hx7pe

they blame it on the global warming - would not be surprised if the fires were intentionally set at all.

It's amazing the capacity of folks like you to avoid responsibility for what you have done. "It can't be my fault, it must be some vague group of bad guys". I have stepped up to the plate. I drive an electric car. My home is almost entirely solar powered. My solar array even powers several neighbors' homes during the day. What have you done? GFM

We need to have more forest management to prevent wild fires. It is not climate change causing all the fires.
@MrJRamal
@MrJRamal 11 месяцев назад
If you let the forest fill up with brush and dead trees it is fuel for more wild fires. The climate has been changing for thousands of years. It will become wet and then dry. It will become hot and cold. The weather will always change naturally and not because of carbon emissions. They are just using this to control us.@@Username-qx9gk
