I'm not trained in any form of martial arts, but I'm pretty sure that in a real fight situation, after the initial strike (punch, kick, etc), the attacker isn't just going to wait and do nothing when the Aikido master blocks or sidesteps and follows up with a combination of locks and throws. I'd like to see how effective Aikido can be when an attacker aggressively follows up with a combination of punches, kicks, locks, holds and throws (blocks and side-steps included) of his own, to counter the Aikido master's moves.
If people are spending their valuable time and money on this stuff for self defense, they are being robbed and lied to! It’s worthless in a real fight!
