Damn! This is the very best review I have ever seen on any product. You did an amazing job of introducing all the features. I hope Ford compensates you for your in depth presentation. I am excited to see all the features of this truck. This is a sales tool for anyone interested in a Super Duty truck. Thanks, you just sold me on this truck. Amazing job! Hey Ford! Are you listening?
They are great trucks but their engines suck ! If they would stretch the front a foot and put a inline 6 cylinder diesel and a cummins would be a great choice or a Cat engine I just don’t like V8 diesel and it doesn’t do anything for me to many parts cramed under the the hood of a great truck and GM has put a straight 6 in their half tons and even that it’s a ouzo for a cab over trucks they need to build one fitted for pick up trucks. The big elephant in the room is that you have to pull the cabs to work on and that is dumb just make the engine bay about a foot longer or a tilt front end would be the dream !
This video should be purchased by Ford and included with the truck. I have owned my 2023 F350 for 10 months and just learned probably 20 different features that I didn't know existed despite going thru the owner's manual several times. Thank you to ShelbyFlyer for making a great truck even better with this video.
Probably the most in depth and informative RU-vid video on the truck I've seen. I appreciate the hands on real world approach. I'm tires of just the spec sheet "reviewers". thanks!!
Ford should hire you! Great video, really in depth and useful. Much appreciated! I have one that I have been waiting a long time for on the way right now. Should be here any day. Amazing trucks! Hope I get a good one🍻
Best run down of features on youtube. I'm still waiting for mine to be built. I got the 7.3 gas engine. One thing to note is the built in navigation takes into account your trailer height to avoid sending you on roads you should avoid while towing.
I love your review of your 2023 Super Duty! I am ordering a '24 Platinum with additions. I LOVE your tonneau cover, but I am wondering how water tight is it? I have a 2019 Super Duty now with a tri-fold cover that is 98% watertight and I like it, but getting older and the roll-ups like yours appeal to me greatly. Appreciate your time answering this.
Thanks for the feedback! You are going to love your truck! The bed cover is not totally water tight, but it does a good job keeping most of the water out.
Just purchased same truck with 6.7 and short bed. Interior is amazing. Max recline seats are soft and comfortable. Electric assist steering is awesome. Easy to turn at low speeds. Tighter on highway.
Picking up my 2023 F250 Tremor Lariat Ultimate on Friday. I appreciate all of the detailed information that you included here! Driving a few hours to pick it up, so I'll have plenty to mess with on the way back lol. One thing that I did like about the F250 compared to the Chevys is the over-the-hood view from the cab. The Fords just had much better visibility. As a shorter guy, this made a huge difference (also the peddle adjustment on the lariat is nice 😅). Cheers!
I watched this video a couple days ago and was amazed by all the tech. I too tow my 2021 ZL1 1LE to the track often. I had an XLT premium on order. I came home with a 2024 Lariat Ultimate instead. I CAN NOT wait to try out the pro trailer backup. Absolutely crazy amounts of tech in this truck.
I have a similar truck, 2023 F250 Lariat, 4x4 diesel with the shorter bed. I have been on 2 non towing trips from Dallas to OKC (22.1 mpg) and 1 trip to College Station (22.8 mpg). Very happy with the mpg. I am anxious to tow my bumper pull travel trailer (8,000 lb dry) with the new truck. My 2015 4x4 Ecoboost with max tow package (rated to tow 11,200 lbs) got 7-8 mpg and struggled on long inclines and mountains. The temps would really go up when in boost for too long. Remember THERE IS NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT!!!
Great review. For the group, for fishermen that wear polarized sunglasses you cant see the hud with them, so keep a second pair in the truck without polarization.
I'm in the process of ordering a Platinum '24 and looked at the Limited a well. I think this Laramie he ordered has EVERYTHING offered except the HO engine which is standard on a Limited. My dealer is telling me the order time for my Platinum is going to be 5 or 6 months, but for a Limited about a year! I guess the snob appeal of having Platinum on my tailgate is more important to me - I have a '19 Platinum now.
Looking to pick up a used 2023 F350 Lariat early next year in advance of a new 5th wheel...I'm saving this video to watch again later! Thanx for sharing!!!
Great video. I have a 2024 Chevy 3500 LT. It has all the same camera views and towing capacity, center console, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless phone charging, power rear window, multi folding tailgate, bed lights, power tow mirrors, etc… It does not auto back to a trailer and the tech on the Ford is a little more advanced…like that you can see your gears. But, my truck was $73k and yours is $90k. Fords have the CP4 which is an $18k repair when it goes. Not sure about that glass sunroof in TX. It hails every year. Beautiful truck.
Absolutely beautiful truck. I really like the new screen and the way the new features work. The only thing that doesn't thrill me is that $90K price tag.
Fantastic video! '24 F-350 Platinum CrewCab Longbed 4.30 rear is in production as I type. First ordered February of '22. The wait has been worth it! Thanks again, and subbed.
Just rewatched after getting my F350. Lots of good info. You may want to check the speed rating of your trailer tires. 85MPH is pretty fast for trailer tires. My Goodyear endurance tires are speed rated up to 87MPH max. Speed rating N.
AWESOME TRUCK!!! GREAT video thanks so much for sharing, order a 2024 F350 Lariat, hope to get it someday in 2024, PLEASE stay healthy and safe down there!
Just got my 23 F350 SRW 6.7 Lariat Ultimate also! Awesome truck and great info! If you use Apple Maps (I know I know) for directions then distance and turn direction will also show on the cluster and the HUD.
Great video! Love the detail. For the adaptive cruise control, does it allow you to just rest your hand on the wheel? Or does it actually force you to move the wheel? I have a car w/ similar tech, but it doesn't detect a hand simply resting on the wheel - you actually have to move the wheel for it to register that you're paying attention.
Thanks! The steering wheel sensor is looking for a little resistance from the driver holding the wheel. Every once in awhile, it will tell me to keep my hands on the wheel even though they are there… I just give the wheel a little wiggle and it resets.
Thanks for the in depth video. We are looking at an F350 SRW as well. I drove one with the Tremor package and short bed and couldn't believe how good it rode. We really want the massage seats but can only get that in top 2 trims. Can't wait to decide which way to go. Enjoy seeing the video showing everything.
Got my F-250 XLT Sports package last week. Doesn't have all the tech but it's still plenty. Don't forget about the two bottle openers that are in the tailgate 🤯
It's the little black steel hooks. I suppose they could be used for tie downs. Saw another video which mentioned it. The bottom loop looks like it might open a cap but I don't have any to try. Maybe Ford incorporated it for people who are tailgating?
Did a little digging and found this..."It’s a tie down point first, the bottle opener was just an added feature because it’s fun on a brochure. There’s one on each side so tie down is the core function." So for the 90K you just might have found another feature. BTW great video extremely thorough. I'm coming from driving for the last 14 years a 2002 F-150 so this is a huge upgrade.
Take it to the dealer and have the service dept get a tech to plug in and turn on the DPF filter guage in the cluster options for you. Its there, just needs to be turned on.
Good move to go with the Lariat. I ordered a F450 KR in the 2022 model year and just got a mid-March build date a little over a week ago. Getting anything above Lariat was not really happening in the 2023 model year.
Great review. The fact that the F250 truly doesn't have Blue Cruise is ridiculous for the price. Why would you have on an F150 but not on the F250. Having your hands on the wheel, defeats the entire purpose of the technology...really Ford.
I've got a the '17 Lariat with older version of the Rapid Red paint (Ruby Red). I really like the Rapid but wonder if the warmer shade of Ruby will be missed. Doubt I'll care once it's in the driveway. Mine is in "like-new" condition with no issues and customized to my liking and I'd gladly swap mine for yours. Want that HD screen to replace the grainy screen.
Awesome truck. In your state you live. Is the Ford Super Duty considered Commercial ?? Also what is the GVWR Rating for your truck ?? I want to know because I want a ford truck just like it. Thanks Scott Steele
Just remember to use a fuel additive at EVERY Fill-up, and make sure it is a cetane booster and even more important it is Lubricity loaded . Or as soon as you are able to, get the fuel Disaster prevention kit installed, or better yet get the source of the problem replaced purchase the S & S DIesel CP3 Replacement fuel pump installed before the CP4 Grenades and you have to spend 12-15 K to replace the entire fuel system. Good luck with the new truck..ĺ
Just looking to get my first heavy diesel. I’ve had small ones from VW/Audi in the past, and always ran Power Service at each fill-up (White bottle in Winter, and Silver in Summer). Do the Fords respond better to any specific fuel additive for a lubricity? Didn’t know if there was a ‘go to, tried and true’ additive for the Power Stroke.
@@davidstg2 Copy/paste from the manual: “It should not be necessary to add any aftermarket additives to your fuel if you use a high-quality diesel fuel that conforms to ASTM industry specifications. Aftermarket additives can damage the fuel injector system or engine.”
@@ShelbyFlyerit’s called a CP4 and when it goes, it’s $18k to repair it. Ford is the only company still using it. Ram and GM stopped using them years ago.
I love the model you bought, I want to know about the registration of your Ford truck. You are in Texas, 2 questions for you. #1, What is your Ford truck officially in Texas registered as ? Commercial or Non- commercial... #2, What is the GVWR ratlng of your Super Duty truck ??? The model of your Ford truck is what I want to purchase. Scott Steele
Nice video and I don't understand why the dealer cannot provide this kind of detail. Ford should demand that their dealers become knowledgeable of the trucks and their capabilities. I have the 2023 F250 Lariat that has the ultimate package as well. The features take a while to adapt to. I like many features, but the GPS map is not as useful as my Garmin. It cannot be used for planning and as a real map. Also, auto zoom cannot be disabled. I used Google Maps or Waze instead but missed my Garmin features. BTY I traded my 2012 F350 diesel for this 2023 F250 with the 7.3 gas because I don't need the torque to pull a 28 ft Airstream. The Godzilla with the 10speed is perfect for this trailer and I don't have the anxiety of the engine derating that I had with the diesel.
I LOVED the walk around, but you missed something VERY important to some of us making decisions on our Super Duty purchase. Can you PLEASE tell me what the Payload sticker says on the driver door! If you did and I missed it, I apologize, but if you missed it.. OH the same! (hehehe) Can you please take a look at it and let me know what that number is please?
Fabulous video! Thanks for posting. I too pull a 20 foot enclosed car trailer but with a Mach 1 in it to the track. Currently using my 2014 F150 eco-boost. Partially, in part thanks to your video. I’ve ordered a F350 diesel. How has your reliability been on your F350 so far?
Thanks! I have about 5k miles on the truck and it has been fabulous! I added a 44’ gooseneck enclosed double car trailer (video coming soon). The truck pulls the load with no drama!
@@jeffhumphrey1304 I am in TX. We have a big group from all over the country that goes to Ford Enthusiast’s Nationals in MO the 1st week of May. There are 2 track days at Ozarks International Raceway. I’ll be there again this year. It’s a damn good time!
That sounds like a good time. I’ve been interested in going to that track. I’ll have to check my SCCA schedule and also depends on when my new truck comes in.
Interesting you ended up with 2.5" reciever... my 2021 almost identical truck (to include payload capacity so our GVWR must be same: 12400) has the 3" Great video. First good 2023 built like my 2021 i've seen.
slider on cup holders isn't new... have it on 2021 as well. love the little slots in front of them to access charging ports but still have that cover closed.. very nice.. wish I had that.
Overall a very nice truck. Ford really messed up with trims above the XLT having the rediculous bar graphs for the two main gauges! The designers couldn't figure it out to put simple needle on dial and had to make it more complex??!!!
@@ShelbyFlyer I wished they'd stick to basic design principles! Gauges are designed to convey information and is not a video game! Look at the instruments on any jet and it is clear how they were designed! Porsche already has perfected this so all Ford had to do was to copy it! Even Honda has better analog gauges done in digital format!
ShelbyFlyer... Good luck with your new truck.. Needs some PPF/and Racing Graphics to be applied..... I called Eaton Superchargers about the GT500 2020-2022. No maintence needed for the superchargers until 150K... Love your racing videos... Are the seats holding up... Have you had the oil - tested by a lab... Harold
Amazing overview of your new Ford Truck! Looks like a cruise ship... Amazing... I have busy cleaning out my dads home in Delaware. He passed in January 2023. Have not had the time to drive the Shelby's. Keep up the amazing videos...
Growing up in Wilm DE, my dad had a 1970 Ford Torino 3 Speed Column four door orange in color..... I was hooked on the Ford products. He sold the car in 1986 for 1K. I will never forget that car... It was special ordered with heavy duty suspension 351 V8. When I bought the 13 GT500 in 2017, he thought I was nuts..... My dad was always a Ford person like you.. I wish he had special cars. Thank you for thinking of me, such a funny feeling not having my parents. My mom helped me buy my 1993 Z28, and 99 Corvette Hardtop. Hopefully in two weeks my boy hood home will be up for sale... Another chapter in my life. My birthday is at the end of the month. I hope to get both cars out sometime soon. I have to take a couple of pictures and send them to you. All the best! Thank you for your support. I have to fly down to Texas to see you someday. I am in the Philly area. Harold@@ShelbyFlyer
My tremor arrives in 2 weeks!. Try a 2lb ankle weight on the wheel. Truck thinks your hand is there and will drive itself. Pay attention it likes to follow a steady line here and there! Good luck
I am about to buy something similar f350 lariat with ultimate package along with black appearance and off road pkg. but it does not have* the 5th wheel prep. Does that not come standard in this config? Thx
Congrats in advance on your truck! You are going to love it! Look at the options list. I opted for the gooseneck prep. I forget if that was standalone or part of a package.
Takes some room to turn that big sucker around and when I’m pulling my trailer, I have to be careful where I go so I don’t get stuck. Once I get my long double trailer, I’ll have to really watch out where I go!
I will never understand why do people buy single wheel 350 when they drive like a Lamborghini and the dullay is twice as safe because of the dulls because if you blow a rear tire pulling a heavy load you could lose control and crash and burn and as you can tell Iam a dullay guy and I just love my 4 door long bed dullay and I have never found a drive threw that I could not go threw the worst one is a back they are tight but I just drive right threw them .
@@lbeck119 Pretty sure it is just for the bumper hitch. I have a Gooseneck trailer. I manually back up to it. The bed camera, which has a zoom function seriously helps with left/right alignment. The camera does not offer depth perception so I have to get out and check fore/aft to center under the hitch.
I think I recognize that area, Azle, TX? I am the Mansfield area. What dealership did you buy it from? I am about to get a F350 SRW HO 6.7, my wife wants an RV and my 2020 Raptor will be the sacrificial lamb… glad to see your enjoying your truck, thank you for the video?
@@ShelbyFlyer Came back to your video this morning, it came back up in my feed. I didn’t see your comment back, thank you for that by the way. I have more to the story. About 45 days ago I got my truck. I ordered it and it took about 5 months to come in. It’s a 2024 F350 HO SRW Platnium Tremor in Black. The RV fully loaded maxes out the truck. If I had known before I might have gone with the F450. Currently without moving anything around and fully travel loaded I am 60 pounds over my GVWR of 12,000 pounds. All water tanks were empty. I would be interested to know what you have with the long bed. The payload has some room about 280 pounds 😅. The dry hitch weight of the RV is what got me so close, it’s 2,591 pounds and with a payload of 3,868 pounds I had 1,300 pounds to play with using the numbers from the manufacturer. The weight and people adds up REALLY FAST. There are three of us, my son is 21 so three adults. So to pulling, I am currently in Ruidoso, New Mexico and got a chance to see this beast work on some smaller “mountains” well mountains for this Dallas, TX boy. A couple of 6% climbs and also downhills it’s was great to see the truck work, the exhaust break worked beautifully, I used it in automatic and regular both were able to hold the weight of the Brinkley Z3610 5th wheel right around 17,000 pounds according to the CAT scale. That’s an accurate number even though it’s an even number oddly enough. “I think” I am going to put Air Bags on when I get back from this trip. We are headed to Florida this summer. I know airbags don’t do anything the payload, but it’ll give me a bit of stability and level of the ride. We did experience some wind at 90 degrees to the truck the entire trip, this 42 foot long billboard catches it all but we weren’t blown around to much and certainly not uncomfortable. I could tell it was there but we felt planted. The wind was about 20-25 with gusts of 35ish. I can’t say enough good things about the truck over all. There is one very annoying tech issue, when in tow haul mode and using apply maps (could be every map) the dash display will not show all of the “general gauges and diesel gauges” page. If I rotate back to normal mode the pages are there but not in tow haul “while mapping”. Not sure if this happens while unhooked from the trailer but leaving in tow haul and using maps or not, I’ll try that while headed up the mountain for skiing today.
Not sure which trim level or options package includes the zone lighting… I dig it though. Lights come on at night when you approach with the key fob or you can turn them on through the app.
I’m looking at ordering the a F-350 SRW lariat ultimate within a year. Just kinda curious if the cruise adjusts to the speed limit signs. My step mom has a Lincoln nav and she can set it like she wants to go 3mph over. When it sees a 45 it’ll go to 48 from 68. Just wondering if the truck does the same and what the “tolerance” thing was on the cruise control settings.
One last question how big is the back seat floor? Is it big enough for a twin air mattress? Just thinking if I don’t order one with max recline seats I can throw an air mattress back there when I go on long trips. The 700-800 miles to empty is very intriguing compared to my SUV’s maybe 400 miles. Excellent video man.
@@chrisharris9115 Not sure if you would be able to get a twin air bed back there… maybe. Otherwise just put some padding down. There is quite a bit of space there. Look at my video where I removed a feature. It applies here.
@@ShelbyFlyer my first experience with adaptive cruise was in a 2020 international class A. It made those long trips out to western Kansas so much easier. Now it’s one of those features I almost need in a vehicle.
