Manufacturers are claiming peak torque numbers that are only available on an engine dyno. GM peak torque is at 1800 rpm, but the transmission tuning will never let it operate there, it’ll force a shift. The numbers are a silly game, what matters is how it puts it to the ground.

Avoid newer vehicles if possible, especially Rams, they are asking for way too much in cost for the same truck design they had years ago, barely any changes made or at best a mild refresh yet are asking for prices like it was a new model Chevy. Seriously GM has actually made proper changes, still they are way too expensive but it's not like it the exact same.

Several comments that include Big Trucks/Tractor while comparing to F350 Dually... a Pickup. At 500hp & 1200 Torque, that's outstanding for a Pickup stock powertrain. Rams were super but last 4 yrs haven't kept up... The 6.7 HO Power Stroke is currently the leader "Pickup" in power specs & tow specs, out torquing the Ram I6 Cummins is impressive. DuraMax is lowest of 3 in power specs, it may leapfrog and surprise us in a few years.

You can’t go wrong with either of these trucks, they’re both incredible and probably more capable than most of their owners (cough, no CDL,cough). I think the the Chevy has a larger diameter fan based on the height of that front end compared to the Ford, which actually looks small next to the Chevy. This allows it to run quieter since it doesn’t have to spin as fast for the same CFMs as the Ford. This also means, since it’s clutched, it doesn’t pull as much power from the engine to spin. But I’m probably the only one who likes the sound of a truck fan roaring. To me it sounds like POWWHA!!!

Powerstroke should have beat the Duramax by a lot more based on the advertised numbers. I wish they tested using a Lariat instead of the limited.

Excellent video guys!! Interesting results for sure.... what were the rear end ratios? I know Chevy only comes with the 3:42 option, but what about the Ford? Bet it was a lower gear, yet with much less torque, the Chevy got to 60 sooner and almost kept up for the whole run. That just shows that these trucks are all getting so powerful that a few hundred foot pounds won't really matter... it's more about mapping and how they're able to put it down. Also, gathering info from several sources, it seems the PowertStroke truly likes to run hot, which OK that's alright I guess (not that 230 coolant is comfortable), but a 30-40 degree difference in trans temp between the Chevy and Ford can't be helping in overall longevity. The other things several sources seem to state is that the Ford rear end can't quite handle the heavy load as well, and ends up on the bump stops. I will say though, it's disappointing to see that the Chevy didn't do better downhill, despite the fact that they've updated the turbo, valves, and exhaust brake to be stronger than previous year. Also Ford is killing it with the gauge game. They went from having the shittiest gauges just showing approximates on a "bar", to now by far having the best and most comprehensive gauges. Great job!

Chevy High Country is a $100,000 truck. The limited is the most expensive Ford. I have a fleet of mixed brands for my construction business, 3 Ford's, 2 GMC's, 4 Chevy's because I can get them cheaper than the GMC and 3 Rams. The oldest trucks are 2019 F250 and 2 2021 Chevy 2500. All the others are 22s. Both Chevy's have had more problems than the 2019 Ford. The other two Chevy's are 22s and one has had some sensor s issues but the other same year is doing great. The other 2 Ford's, one of the Ford's, same problem as the Chevy, sensor issues and the other no problems. The GMC has their share of problems and the Rams are doing great except for and guess what it is...sensor issues and every time I turn around one throws a code so I have to take it in for an update. I've had previous Ford's with issues just like anything else. It's just the way it is.

The information is nice to have with the Ford, but Andrey is the last guy to have it. He is so distracted as a driver at any time and then he has a dash full of distractions. When the information wasn’t there it was way less distracting. Putting it in cruise may generate more brake applications. The F350 having 3 brake applications is still really good though. After watching Banks reveal the changes of the newly revised diesel in the DuraMax 6.6, I was sold on that engine! GM made the right changes and if you have a choice between a 2023 vs 2024 GM DuraMax for similar money, jump for the 2024!! Same with the gas GM HD trucks but because they now have the 10 speed transmission. Ford also has a monster of a PowerStroke. Great videos as usual and I have 3 comments. 1) Please share rear end ratios between trucks being compared, it can make a fair bit of difference. I have a ‘19 and ‘23 Super duty crew cab dually truck (identical spec trucks except gearing) with the standard output and the ‘19 with 4.10 does better keeping the truck up to speed with less power and a six speed rather than a 10 speed with 3.55. 2) It might be worth retesting the two trucks or at least the Chev once you get an understanding of why it took so much help form service brakes. Might just be the way it’s setup, it doesn’t look like the truck rode the brakes so it can’t have affected the effectiveness of the exhaust brake that much!? 3) Squat is almost irrelevant at 1/2” difference. Looks like squat on the Ford may have been measured after the run when the suspension has been worked and the chev was right when the load was placed onto the GN ball before going to the test run?. That can make the difference. Just curious. Thanks again for producing these videos, exceptionally well done once again!,👌

I believe the LTZ breaking is more of a surge break application as you would do in a semi on a steep grade to prevent the breaks and rotors from overheating. I noticed it slowed to about 3 mph below 35 and ran out to about 3 mph over before initiating another break application. In the big rig I was taught to break to 5 under desired speed and run out 5 over before breaking and holding to the 5 under. Either way I’ve always been a Ford man but after 35 years I think I’m going give the Chevy a go. Great video!

@@kenwolf2431 Curious, but what is above the LTZ trim on Chevy? I've known a couple people with LTZ-level Chevys, an Equinox and an Impala, and I thought that was the highest trim level. I've never seen badging on any recent Chevy other than LS, LT and LTZ.
