What wheel did they go with? I only ask because you cannot legally run 285/70R19.5 on the factory wheel. The 285s require a wheel that is at least 7.5 inches wide (265s are 6.75 or 7.5 wide). This is a hard requirement because it is a commercial tire with a commercial style bead. F600 wheels are 6.75 inches wide and are a good option to take a F450 up to 265/70R19.5.
Those are stock lariat wheels. They aren’t running DOT numbers so I doubt this will see commercial use. They’re probably going to use it as a farm truck to occasionally haul cattle. In other words, it won’t see enough weight to strip the beads off those tires. You are correct though, if they do max payload they might shoot out a bead (still very slim chance)
@@Yeeto767 The problem is that they are out of manufacturers spec so if you do have an issue you have opened yourself up to a lot of liability. If they did use the correct (19.5x7.5) wheel then I want to know where they got it since I want to run 285s on my F450. If I can't find the 7.5s then I'm limited to 265/70R19.5.
The factory wheel is 19.5.. those wheels on the black truck look like the 19.5 alloy wheel. If those tires are 285 70 18, what wheel is being used as they will need to be a ten lug.
There are a couple of problems with these 35” tires on this 550 though…any flexing on uneven terrain, especially while steering, will likely causing rubbing. Also, the larger diameter tire effectively lowers the axle ratio, which makes towing heavy loads more difficult. The stock 225/70/19.5 is 31.9” tall as JB mentions…and that is actually slightly taller than what comes on an F350 dually.
