Stronger then a 1.6 4 cylinder. You have 3 cylinder the same almost bore stroke of a 1.6, shorter crank 3 cylinder and crank flat plan balance better. Basically your taking a cylinder from a 1.6 4 cylinder its most likely stronger then you think. Less to go wrong and all that.

I keep reading about this engine since I’m going to have a 155hp soon and I’m starting to think that people look at it as “1.0 turbo engine (period)”. If we have indication about reliability issues, we have reasons to think that it won’t last , but if we don’t, then it’s not enough to simply judge it for the size. You know there’s a 2 liter 3 cylinder engine which the engine alone produces 600hp ? Of course it’s a Koenigsegg, but what I’m trying to say it that you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover … if the engine is well built then it will stand a lot of abuse, which it doesn’t mean that this is the case… but also doesn’t mean it is not…

Most of the 1.0L engines with turbos and high torque aren't most the issue, but the clutch is. If the clutch dies the engine just goes straight up and breaks. That's the main issue.
