I mean, the Puma is almost 1.3 tons and being an SUV is not that aerodynamic as an E Klass. Then there is the engine, the E220D has an engine twice the size, but it's a diesel so it will consume a lot less fuel and the Mercedes also has a 9 speed automatic compared to the 6 speed manual of the Puma. I had a 1.1 gasoline Citroen Saxo once and it was consuming max 5 l/100 km if I kept it around 100 -110 km/h. Going past that, fuel economy would drop a lot.

there is lot of others SUVs too which consume same or less then Puma but they are much bigger and faster @@DanMAD
