Just a comment to explain my thoughts a bit better: Yeah I like it, despite it not having a moving beak. The design’s a bit weird imo (even compared to the emoto-tronics and connects) but it’s definitely grown on me and light up ears makes it stand out compared to other Furbs. Not bad after a 7 year gap
I’m gonna miss the LCD eyes they had since 2012, the many different personalities it can have, and the use of Furbish. This is cute, but it doesn’t have the unique perks Furbies had in the previous decade as it’s more like the 2005 incarnation, albeit it’s more fluent in English.
electronic gore compared it to a fijit friend, and honest i agree. theyre very similar in their functionality and im not a fan. also ik a lot of people disliked the lcd eyes but you cant say they weren’t really expressive and full of personality. unlike this version which just has empty soulless doll eyes
@@plantyyy tbf you could do even more with a fijit friend. They can interact with other fijits like yippits and newbies. Plus they’re much more expressive than the 2023 Furbies.
@@Corgipon i figure theyre gonna release a line of furblings eventually. there hasn’t been a generation without them so far and they already have the ability to interact with other furbies
Yeah, I agree. Mechanical eyes can be cool but all these do are blink and other than that look lifeless. I don’t like how the beak doesn’t move either. I love seeing different parts of robots animated so it’s disappointing. The lcd eyes are so expressive and fun to look at on the Furbies with those. I think the 2012 Furby will always be my favorite.
I find its lack of 90% of the furbish language really weird. It just doesn’t feel like a furby, especially in the way it speaks english. Take a look back at every previous version of furby. The word “furby” didn’t exist in the original’s audio, the closest you’d get with a baby was “furbalicious” when you fed it, the 05s just said “hey, me furby!” as one of the startup phrases, the 2012s and booms didn’t do it at all, the connects had some dialogue with furby in it, and this thing sounds like Elmo on drugs. “Furby up.” No. Just no. Furby now talks in 3rd person like furby isn’t there.
Yeah I think the Furbish language adds to the world building of the Furbies themselves and gives them more background and personality. Plus it’s nice for them to be bilingual.
I agree! It’s really fun listening and learning what my Furbies are saying in their own language, especially my 2012s and Booms. I’ve already been pretty disappointed by the 2023 and this just adds to it.
2023 furby is mastering english these days like i feel it's speaking more english than furbish compared to the previous models lol i have mixed feelings about this model?? THEY GOT RID OF THE LED EYES AND MOVABLE BEAK :'(
Yep. The personalities, the use of Furbish (an uncommon case in which a fictional language has actual translations and isn’t made up of gibberish), the LCD eyes, movable mouths, tails (and the ability to pull them), and more movements.
i….. am really not impressed…. which is the exact opposite reaction i expected to have with an updated 2023 furby. he’s really basic and cheap compared to the previous generations or even the 90’s version.
fr and I don't get why people think it's so cute, it's not cute at all. like it tries too hard to be cute. if anything even the original furbies from the 90's are cuter. plus this one looks so generic, if I saw it in the stores, I would think it's a bootleg or copycat. and the fact that it already is speaking allot of english is weird to me. It should speak mostly furbish and then gradually learn english as you keep talking to it
@@GaryCandyPrince I think it’s rather subjective on whether or not this one is cute. I think a lot of kids would think the 90s ones are creepy unfortunately.
I get that there's 5 commands you can give it... but does it do anything else? Seems really limited. I like the old Furbish -> English progression of the old models
i agree; i think its a cute new addition but taking into account the price i personally think its a bit lackluster 🤷♀️ its not very interactive and for a young child they’ll probably get sick of it very easily
Honestly it looks cool. Kinda hope they’ll release a 2.0 (like boom 2015 was to the 2012 Furby) where there’s a moving mouth and some sort of eye lighting or something
@@dillonohlemiller401 so were the later ones up to 2016 that they were for everyone, though it was around the release of the Boom ones when they started to get girly.
Just wanted to say, great video- however, the music you have in the background is too loud and distracting. It was hard to hear the Furby. But I’m glad I got to see this. Definitely influenced my decision!
I really like mine. The lightshow feature is awesome and I like the decision to move away from screens and the internet. That's refreshing to see in a modern toy.
This feels more like a cheap childs toy made to be opened on christmas then never played with again, more so than any of the furbys before. The LCD eyes were the best part of the boom and connect furbys. No clue why they would remove them. Instead they gave the furbues those cheap colourful and girly eyes. These seem remarkably uninteresting.
@@Corgipon the new furbys look more loke those other robot toys like those “fur real friends” or whatever. I remember my little sister had one for a few days and it was never played with again. There was a hell of a lot of cheaply made toys that were made for that. Furbys always seemed to last the longest though. Something must have been more interesting about them. Probably the personality and unique LED and LCD eyes made them seem more alive. These just look boring and cheap, maybe to capitalize on the nostalgia of the original furbys, years after that nostalgia would have actually peaked.
I like this one because they brought back the voice recognition that the 2005 furbies had and I think that's pretty cool. That was a cool feature of those particular furbies and then it just went away for almost 2 decades, so I'm glad to see it's back
This hits all the right notes for me, being one of those people that comes to the Furby specifically because of how cursed it is. It speaks nothing but English, it’s aware that it’s a Furby, and it’s facial features don’t move in the slightest. It’s the uncanny valley Furby and I’m here for it.
Okay, everyone is saying different BUT.. i love the new ones and i feel like they're more portable and less wriggly. And a very unpopular opinion, they look so much more possessed and i love that.
I'm 22 now, but growing up I had the classic 2005 furby when I was 4. The 2012 furby when I was 11 and the furby boom when I was 15 in 2016 for well, trying to continue to be a kid. But I never played with furby boom, more as a "collect" thing. But this? It's nice, don't get me wrong. I loved the classic 2005 furby, but when you were old enough and got very used to using the fun app and having the cool LCD eyes... this just makes it feel like we're taking a step back into the past. And the past is better left and to be remembered for nostalgia. Because we're in a world where digital LCD and OLED stuff is all around us, and that's what we are used to.
I agree 100% like even on the connect they had color lcd they really should’ve went off the design of the connect and and just added the voice features cuz the connects eyes and movement was the most alive feeling furby
I feel like I took the Furby for granted when the 2012 Furby came out My dad went to a Walmart in a neighboring state and I didn’t want it I told him it was wasn’t a be of the colors on the commercial but it actually one of those moments where I excitement turned into anxiety but I did get a 2012 Furby later on but seeing this makes me feel sorry for kids now.
Imo I don't really like it at all. the style is weird to me, plus the beak doesn't even move and that's like a major downgrade from the ones before (the furby boom ones)
I’m glad they kept replaceable batteries. There’s still people enjoying original 98 Furbies, Booms, Connects, etc. All of these would be useless dead paperweights today if they had built in batteries. Just put your own rechargeable batteries in. Eneloops etc.
@@dezra Rechargeable batteries weren't made for high drain devices during the 90s' as far as I can remember. That's besides the point though, just wanted to point that out. Anyways, I like being able to use my own batteries too but lets keep it real. Most people prefer built-in rechargeable batteries, especially kids since they don't have to bug their parents about changing store bought batteries constantly. Batteries are inconvenient, clunky and heavy and provide a choking hazard for young kids which these toys are the demographic for. Furbies are and always will be a child's play toy, lets not look past that fact and it's where the design of the thing is going towards. All I'm saying is I'm surprised the modern Furby doesn't have a built-in battery since most modern kid's toys do.
@@32-bitcloud Internal batteries were certainly made through the 90s (and before) PowerBooks and iBooks didn’t run off AAs lol. I don’t know why you wanted to “point that out” when it’s inaccurate and like you said besides the point. The Furby Connect could drain its battery life in ~6 hours if made to sing and dance continuously. If you gave that thing to a kid on Christmas morning and it was dead by lunch time (many such cases) I think both the kid and parent would agree that being able to instantly give it full battery life again is far more convenient than having to wait around for 12 hours while it recharges, unable to play with it until tomorrow. This Furby is labelled “for ages 6+” and like every previous Furby it requires a screwdriver to remove multiple screws to access its battery compartment. If you have the mental faculties to use a screwdriver, or you are aged 6 or older, or both, you are not likely to choke on AAs. If a 6 year old is swallowing AAs that’s hardly Hasbro or Duracell’s fault. There are very few toys or any electronic devices that are 25 years old and still sought after and in demand, the original Furby is one of them. Hasbro is aware of the history and longevity of these products and likely made a deliberate choice to use user replaceable in the 2023 Furby hoping it will be a product that endures much longer than an internal battery can last. Like all the previous models have.
I don't know if maybe they removed the LCD eyes, movable beak and tail to stop kid's breaking them? It just makes it seem cheaper and like less effort was put in imo though.
Back in the 90s furbies managed to accomplish all of the movements you see using only one DC motor, including the mouth. They should’ve had the decency to add an articulating mouth. Thats the bare fucking minimum.
i dont get why people seem to like this thing so much, its just an uglier version of the furbling and has barely any of the charm of the 2012-2016 furbies
I mean its a bit to girly imo to be a furby also the beak not moving kinda sucks. Tbh it seems they cheaped out on this one but im glad the series isnt discontinued Edit: me fixing grammer
Yea it’s safe to buy, not sure how it would be dangerous to (also in case you’re wondering, the one I have isn’t for sale but you can still find them online and in stores)
In my opinion, I kinda disappointed towards the 23X Furby (23X or any last two digits of a year X is my short way to tell years), it's not bad but it could be a lot better if it truly wants to compete with older eras of Furby like the Classic 98X era, the semi-realistic 05X era, the techy 12X era and it's spinoffs Boom & Connect. The reason for my disappointment is: 1. the lcd eyes are gone and reverted the plastic eyes of the 98X and 05X era. 2. The beak is just decorative and not a moving one like the previous incarnations which is needed tbe voice sync. 3. I considered Furby up to this point as an asexual toy which means anyone no matter which gender can enjoy it and not feel ashamed unlike Barbie or car toys but the new one leans more of feminine audience which I feel is a little annoying to the boys who have grown up with furbies. Lastly 4: seven years has passed since the lastest furby connect and this is what we got for anticipation on that time, feels like a letdown tho the design does look nice but again the three previous reasons gave me personal issues. Not everyone has agree to my opinions but understand that these are mine and you can tell yours.
@@jessmotley8167 yeah it does. The app just has extras. I have an apk of the app on my android too but the app won't connect to the internet so I can't get it to sing:(
Only yhing dont like is mouth doesnt mouth but think its really cute ideal for younger children and old farts lke me shes growing on me. Maybe the mouth is health and safety thing ❤
Why does the beak not move? Why are the eyes not LCD? Why does it speak next to no furbish? Why does it refer to itself in third person? This thing is a mess
I last played with furby connect couple years back.. i do miss its lcd eyes.. more emotive But i do understand this one has more “interactive” (voice commands)
Hopefully if these two sell well there will be. It was a hard choice for me because I wasn't in love with either color but I am going to get the coral variant
I bought it for my daughter in target a few hours so here is my review: Pros: Zero. Cons: it is confusing when the child should start talking. There are several colors and she has to be patient and wait till it’s green, or maybe white. I’m not even sure yet after playing for a long time with it. When my daughter used the command, “tell my fortune “, it replied with “galactic”. That’s it. $60 later this piece of shit tells you “galactic” is your fortune. - Slow to respond. - very limited commands. Not that they work anyway. - 90% of the time it responds with the wrong answer or some irrelevant bullshit. This you will confuse and disappoint your child. Don’t waste your money. It belong in the back of the dollar store.
in my opinion they lack some of my favorite things like led ayes and movable beak i love it! i love all furbies and im so happy that furby as a brand is back!
my birthday is coming up on September 3rd so im gonna force my dad to get me one of those. plot twist im probably gonna play with it once or give it to my little sister :/
I hate lotta things in this version but the worst of all of them is that this thing is really "girly" and tries to be cute and nice that makes me want to vomit... But most of people will still like it because it's not "making kid stupid" and isn't creepy (which imo isn't true, because this thing looks even lifeless that it's predecessors)... Nah, why they can't just take everything cool from previous gens and just merge it into one?
