Steve didn't leave for college. He joined a secret organization to combat the alien puppies and returned for a brief moment in time to gather Intel and report on how powerful they grew.

If I had a nickel for every time Matpat made a theory about a dog being an alien, I'd have two nickels which isn't a lot, but it's weird it's happened twice.

More specifically a changling. 1: She can change shapes to fit her needs. 2: Dimensional travel. 3: She came from the moonlight and either mimicked or replaced a regular puppy in the litter. 4: She has a fairy guardian and a fairy house that hold a dimension of her own. 5: She was granted to Steve when he wished for her. 6: Fae are often appeased with sweets.

My favorite theory comes from my stepdad who is convinced that the reboot takes place in an alternate universe from the original because key events (like Periwinkle moving in and Magenta getting glasses) happened both in the original series and reboot. Honestly not a bad theory imo.

The craziest part of this video isn't even the idea that the dog is an alien, but that MatPat is talking with the same enthusiasm and seriousness as if this were a video about how fast Sonic is or evil cyborg seamonkies or whatever FNAF is about this week.

Update, the oldest dog in history was 30 years and 266 days old so it is very likely that blue is just a very old girl who got lucky. Also candles don't always signify age. Sometimes they are there just to be there. I know I've had candles lower and higher than what my age was before

Another piece of evidence is that in an episode of the original series, Blue manages to put a pawprint on a cloud, and even Steve himself questions how Blue managed to get a pawprint on a cloud.

I was just watching blue's clues with my son and noticed something in an episode that triggered the desire for further investigation. Session 4, episode 25, the final clue is a mirror. While sitting in the thinking chair, the mirror shows "us" and the mouth moves as the child responds. This terrifying image of a stick figure child stays in the image of the mirror. The theory request is about who we are. Who is the "you" they always reference. We're under the assumption that we are reading a book but this stick figure now keeps me awake at night.

I watched Blue's Clues as a child and I genuinely loved it. It was a great show and when the video of Steve telling us it would be OK came out during the pandemic I cried like a baby. It really felt like an old friend was telling me everything would be alright. And now MatPat is here to help me laugh instead of getting emotional

So, Blue seems to be a very powerful reality bender. Not only that, but she is also a meta entity. Meaning that she can literally jump into and influence media, at least visual but most likely written as well. This makes her a very dangerous anomaly.

I miss Matt Pat so much, I used to go and sit, listen to one of his theories, and play piano. I still have memories about listening to his theories while playing we'll meet again, or something similar to that, goodbye Matt Pat, you will always forever hold a special place in my heart 😭😭

Blue's Clues is the one show (or any media) that is so sacred to me that I just cannot imagine it being anything other than it is: a wholesome kid's show that actually makes you feel like you're a part of Steve's family of friends.

I’m on another binge of your content. V glad my bf recommended. I don’t think he was intending me to be on a childhood show binge but here I am. Very interesting to hear about blues clues now, I watched until I was 6. I still remember me and my bff Jade having Lucky Charms in front of the tv waiting to go to school then Steve went to college. We saw Joe, both looked at each other and decided we were too old and switched the channel. Idr what we watched but that was the end of an era.

My theory is that the rainbow dog thematically represents a dog dying and leaving its owner. A big part is the rainbow imagery. You talked about all these points in the video: the rainbow dog doesn't have an owner; as Blue becomes more like rainbow dog, she spends less time with her owner; the rainbow theming reminds me of the idea that when a pet dies they walk over a rainbow and wait for their owner to die as well.

Fun Fact for MatPat and The Theorists: There was actually a dog named Bluey (yes like the show) a female Australian Cattle Dog born in Australia in 1910 who lived to be 29 years and 5 months according to Guinness World Records. While being an anomaly, this is still really impressive and I figured I'd share. On the tangent of kids shows, and the running theme of dogs, I highly recommend Bluey (the show this time) when Ollie is old enough, it is truly a good watch no matter your age. Also, I need a theory about the functionality of cats in the Bluey-verse because I can't be the only one to question it.

Blue's Clues will always mean so so much to me. I've watched it since before I could even sit on my own. I knew how to put my Blue's Clues vhs' in the player by the time I was 2 😂 And I will also always be one of Steve's biggest fans 😊

I think MatPat needs another dose of optimism that he got for Moana since he went from "alien dog with teleporting abilities will one day grow up" to "and these dogs obviously will use their teleporting hub world to dominate the world instead of any loving, peaceful intention like the ones they express in the show."

MatPat, I'm not sure what worries me more: that you go looking for lore in all the wrong places, or that you find it!

Another detail about my fan theory is that another detail in Blue's spell is that the curse placed upon her in addition to being physical also affects her mental age, meaning that she was an adult when the curse was placed on her, and the curse turned her mentally back into a kid (presumably the wizard stripped her mind of all the knowledge she got growing up, which is why she goes to preschool and does all sorts of kiddie stuff.) But as Blue falls more and more in love with the host, the wizard gives the knowledge back to her with less need to go back to early elementary school, late elementary school, middle school, and then high school and graduate. The love received from the host will make her high school diploma good again. If Blue was registered to vote before the curse and had a driver's license before the curse, the curse has made her too mentally young to be given the right to vote and to have a driver's license, and the love received from the host will make her old enough for those again.

This genuinely, GENUINELY makes me enjoy this show a whole lot more. I don't care if it's all rubbish and that MatPat is grasping at straws or whatever (i don't think he is but I can see how someone could get that idea from this video), I honestly love the idea that an alien race desgised as dogs are trying to take over the Earth by getting information about us while desgising their game of Blue's Clues as a children's show. Also, Thanks for taking me down memory lane MatPat😊. This was a show from my childhood and was one of my favourites mostly because blue is my favourite colour and I love a good mistery. Dogs do have thumbs. They just aren't opposable ones. It's the first finger counting from the inside. It is further up the paw. Dogs and cats have the same anatomy as us but they step on their fingertips and have a shorter thumb. Cats actually use it to grab too. Watch as a big cat catches prey. You can see their fingers stretching and grasping using that thumb claw to anchor and grab. Canines on the other hand use their claws for traction. If they are losing traction they usually lay down and that thumb and claw stick into the ground Even bunnies have a lil thumb.

Since I have read something that somebody on RU-vid remembers from a behind the scenes interview with the producer of the parent story, if my fan theory is correct and Blue runs out of time to have the curse she was placed under broken, she will lose all of her anthropomorphism (meaning she will lose the ability to eat chocolate mentioned in the video seen here) and go to live in the wilderness.

Okay, but couldn't Blue's and Rainbow's purpose be just exploration? The smoking gun to your claim is the hub world, which stores all the places the dogs skidoo to, so they can re-visit these places later. To me, these resemble memories or collections of experience. Gathering these worlds in this place does not itself imply domination, but it does imply exploration. Given how friendly she is portrayed, the domination is a tough sell. Furthermore, exploration for its own sake is a valid goal. This drive is portrayed in similar popular media; to quote John-Luc Picard from Star Trek, "Space: the final frontier. This is the mission of the starship Enterprise. Its continuing mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no one has gone before." In short, I think your conclusion of domination and implicit malevolence is a stretch. I understand that subversion may sell, but judging from some of the top comments at this time, it may have been over-doing it. Or did you intend to make a stretch in reasoning to get people like me into making comments like these, thereby promoting this video in the RU-vid algorithm? Fun fact, although its more personal, my dad went to college with the actor of Joe, Donavan Patton, and they did a radio show together. Donavan played a superhero, while my dad played the villain. Just a cool thing I like telling people when talking about Blue's Clues. :)

I always loved how each clue added a musical element that came together into a little vibe in each episode. It’s just a small thingy that I loved

About the fact that in the reboot, Joe got a job at the Present Store manning the cash register, whereas in the original, it was run by an anthropomorphic cash register, maybe the cash register was under a separate evil spell that made his owner an animal caused by the same wizard, and that spell was broken before the reboot occurred, whereas the spell that turned Blue into a dog, everybody in her house into objects, and her house into an animated world is still upon the Blue's Clues house. So could Donovan Patton (the actor who played Joe) in the reboot really be playing the part of the human form of the cash register? After all, the producers apparently considered the host a fictional character, because on authentic Blue's Clues merchandise, it would say "On the TV show, Steve is played by Steven Burns." implying what I just said, like saying about Sesame Street "On the TV show, Gordon is played by Roscoe Orman."

This all becomes much more terrifying when you remember that in Blue's birthday episode, Steve Skidooed out of the show, without Blue, into a child's living room and brought a clock to life. If Steve, a caretaker, has this much power, imagine Rainbow puppy realizing they're on a show and coming into the real world.

I've always been confused by the hosts whenever blues clues gets referenced, because they always look wrong from what I remember my sisters watched. Just found out it's because the uk had a different host, called Kevin.

Since you’re going down the anthropomorphic dog route, I’d like to suggest a theory on Bluey. Because, for a show about a happy dog family, there are a lot of theories. Here are a few you could look at or take a deep dive through: - Bandit, Chili, and Lucky’s dad are in a polyamorous couple - Chili had a miscarriage before having Bluey - Chili’s sister, Brandy, is infertile and can’t have kids - Chili’s dad was in the Vietnam war - Bandit and Chili separated for a bit after the birth of Bingo. This is why their parenting styles are different and Bluey starts to panic when she sees them arguing in an episode - The obligatory, “Bluey takes place in a post apocalyptic world after all of the humans died out” - Why can the dogs in the Bluey universe own cats? Why are only the dogs sentient? And my personal favorite one: - Why does Bluey’s evolution mirror our own? In the episode “Flat pack” (I believe), we see Bluey and Bingo go through the stages of evolution in their play. They begin as fish, then frogs, then lizards, then dinosaurs, then mice, then monkeys, then “cave dogs,” and then finally evolve to be civilized beings who can build stuff. That’s as much as I can remember anyway. So, if their evolution mirrors ours, did they evolve alongside what would have been humans/human-like creatures and beat us out for the top of the food chain? Did humans ever exist in this world’s evolutionary past? What elements of the past animals do the dogs of Bluey still have? Clearly they walk on two legs and have opposable thumbs like monkeys. Would it even be reasonably possible for all of those animals to slowly evolve into a dog? I mean, in our world obviously not. But this is a theory channel and I wanna know if all of the elements could possibly come together to form dogs.

I really think the one aspect that _doesn't_ fit is just it being dark. Really just seems like all Blue and Co. want is to play and have a good time with people, sharing their magic to go on fun adventures. And it seems like Blue is just as likely to be magic as an alien, somewhere around what Clifford is.

I remember there being some movie where Joe visited Blue's Room for Christmas, not through any Skidooing if I remember correct. So that made me even more confused about Blue's Room.

I can definitely agree that Blue’s Clues (especially the older version) is one of if not the best kid’s shows of all time.

I like how everyone in the show doesn't even care about what is happening, they're all just completely fine with it like it's something completely normal.

Growing up, this was one of my favorite shows and still is today.

I just realized something. In Season 5 to 6 of Blue’s Clues, Blue jumps in the book. But in the end of every episode, there are sparkles coming out of the book. Could it mean that Blue skidoos in the book and she jumps of the book?

I never knew Steve returned for a couple of cameos! Since the actor explained his distaste for the idea of being on a kids show with hair loss, I figured he'd avoid it unless speaking exclusively to first gen viewers as adults. I feel that MatPat should make a theory on bluey. For those that don’t know, it’s an Australian slice of life show about a family of dogs, with scenes insinuating things such as infertility, alcoholism, and miscarriages.
