Sorry guess I didn’t word that correctly. If you will “Send me an email” to doubletfishing@outlook.com I will reply back to your email with the sheets attached directly. Thanks
I hope you keep on giving us this content. You have showed me so many things I didn't know about my Garmin unit. And ways to use it that I wouldn't have thought of... Thank you sir appreciate you!!!
Just today I purchased a 10” and a 9” unit. They will be installed next week. I am giving up on my Lowrance units as they just don’t work for me. Thank you so much Rick for these wonderful tutorials. I will watch them all with great interest. Kindest regards,
I am refurbishng an old Ranger, which is a much more extensive process than I imagined. Of course, I already added a Garmin Force trolling motor, as my research indicated it is the best and since I often fish out of the back I have a separate new Livescope unit for the back of the boat with my older Livescope unit for the person using the trolling motor. I have all Garmin Ultra units with a 9 on the console, a 10 at the front and a 12 at the back. I just found your channel and your data is outstanding for setting up and maintaining these units. Excellent is my best description. When I am in another fisherman's boat I get so tired of them not knowing the ability of their units or how to use them. If they will be running my boat, I will be able to use my own electronics or tap into theirs as everything is networked. I could not afford a $80,000 bass boat but could afford an old bass boat and add top quality equipment. I will eventually watch all of your material and suggest to to my friends that they view the data from your RU-vid channel. Thank you very much.
Well thank you for the kind words Donald, it means allot, how is the integration between the force TM and the Echomap chartplotter maps? If you don’t mind sharing I’d love some pictures of your restoration project to share with our newsletter community!! Email doubletfishing@outlook.com have a great day
Can’t say enough good about this channel. Rick really stands by his word with sending the spread sheets he talks about. He also followed up with me with a few questions I had. Very grateful for the time he put into this! Thank you again!!!!
Thank you for your response. Your videos have been very helpful , I’ve installed The unit haven’t had time to go through all particulars. I’m chomping at the bit to get out on the water. Thanks again.
Thanks for all you do. I had no idea that these chart plotter’s had so much in them. Your videos really help a lot. I have a 73 Clearview. That I just bought for my JetSki.
Thank you! I've had my 73sv for years and just now found how to mark using the tear drop! How did you learn the garmin system so well? Back in the day i had a job training payroll clerks how to do payroll on desktop computers instead of cardboard timecards. That was way easier then learning how to use my Garmin!! 😅
Hi Steven, I find the easiest way to learn is to play with it “off the water” when you have time rather than getting frustrated on the water trying to find fish. I developed a spreadsheet of settings for reference I keep with me when I have a silver moment and forget. I’d be happy to share it if you want to send me an email, I can reply back with the sheets attached. Doubletfishing@outlook.com
In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens ru-vid.comUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.
I bought the Garmin Echomap with the panoptix forward facing transducer. Everything worked perfectly until my 4th trip out. My Icon vanished and I really don’t know what happened. I haven’t had the opportunity to go back through the setup to see if it comes back. Have you or anyone else run into this issue. I can say this that the last time it worked I caught 3 largemouths that I know I never would have caught without it. The forward facing is pretty darn sweet if it’s working! Thanks
Thank you !! Definitely made it easier for me . Just got the 93sv , I had it on for an hour without disabling the sonar , will that be OK?, I didn't know you had to do that . Thank you !! Your videos definitely help out . Appreciate your videos .
I recommend 32GB but you can get by with 16GB. Important you do not exceed 32GB!! Larger cards are formatted differently and the chartplotter will not read them. Have a great day!!
There are “restore sonar default” options under the installation menu in each of the sonar screen menus. Be careful about using the factory reset in the main screen menu settings it could cause you to have to start all over again
Mine does, but it may not be ultra high definition, call Garmin with your serial number and confirm before you purchase anything. 800 800-1020 use the callback feature and they always call back
So how do you see arches. My 1st time out this weekend i cut on the fish symbols appearance. So i saw fish on screen no arches nor a place to turn on. Didn't see anything in clear view
Hi, you won’t see arches in clear vu just traditional. Arches show up in traditional 2D sonar when the fish symbols are turned off. It also depends on how fast you are moving and water depth. In traditional 2D sonar I look for objects with 2 or more colors suspended in the water. Have a great day!
It won’t be “gain” that term is used for the traditional 2D sonar. What you are looking for is “brightness ”. Go to the side vu screen and tap menu on the bottom right, select sonar setup, on screen control then change from range to brightness, I have a free cheat sheet if you want to email request. You may have already addressed this and I can't locate the answer. If I have my bow and console units networked, both are 93sv UHD, and I have the transducer set to auto, if I go to move with the outboard and pull up the trolling motor, do all charts/sonar then read off the back transducer? I have my trolling motor transducer set to read off of the built in for the traditional sonar and ClearView. I didn't know if it switched to the back transducer if set to auto when I yank up the trolling motor. Thank you in advance.
No it won’t switch unless it is in “auto”. When in auto it will use the “built in” transducer as default if it’s available, if the built in is not available it will then swap to the network and search for an available transducer. Not much downside to auto on a bow unit attached to a trolling motor. Hope that helps
Check your email spam and junk folders, if it’s not there send me an email and which model you have and I’ll reply back with the attachments this evening after work Doubletfishing@outlook.com
Hi Jim, go to the link below and sign up for the newsletter and you’ll get an email with link buttons to the sheets or just send me an email with which chartplotter you have and I’ll send them to you. mailchi.mp/a2a9cda72675/double-t-fishing-newsletter-sign-up
Question. I have both my 106 sv’s linked together with the hdmi cable and when I try to shut down one unit it shuts down both. Same thing when I power up. Also when I first put my unit in the cradle it automatically powers up. I think this started after one of the updates. Thanks in advance.
Unfortunately that is the way they are programmed, I’m not sure what revision that started with but it’s been that way since I got mine in 2021. I believe you can sleep the devices independently by quickly pushing the power button and select “sleep device” then just press the power button again to wake it. Thanks Rick
I took it down cause it was out of date, the link to the daily fishing journal should be in the video subscription. The spreadsheets are a good reference and they are free!! If you didn’t get a copy email me and let me know which unit you have and I’ll reply back with the attachments Doubletfishing@outlook.com
Without the water surrounding the transducer acting to dissipate heat the transducer can overheat depending on the ambient temperature and if the sunlight is directly hitting it. It also depends on the power of the transducer and duration, a GT54 is 350W while the GT56 is 500w, I’ve accidentally left it on for 20-30 minutes without damage.Have a great day!!
There should be red buttons at the very bottom of the newsletter, may need to “right click” on the images and select “download images” or just send me an email and request the spreadsheet, include which model you have. Email: doubletfishing@outlook.com
Hi Danny, two ways to get it, the first is to go to this link mailchi.mp/a2a9cda72675/double-t-fishing-newsletter-sign-up And sign up for the newsletter. You’ll receive a welcome email with red buttons that will open the spreadsheet for download. Second is just send me an email Doubletfishing@outlook.com Let me know which models you have and I’ll attach the sheets to a reply, have a great day!!
For basic functions it is not required to operate the chart plotter, you can use Garmin Express on your computer for updates if desired. If you have complex networks or premium maps some features require active captain. I use active captain mainly as a backup for user data like waypoints but even that can be done without the app. Have a great day!!
Open the charts screen, then select menu at the bottom right then select quickdraw contours/settings, from there you can select record, user display and community contours to put in an offset value.
You bet, you can either click the link in the description and it will send you download buttons or just send me an email to doubletfishing@outlook.com and I’ll reply back with the attachments
No problem buddy, send me an email and which unit you have and I’ll attach the sheets, if you have a PC look in file explorer there should be a folder in the top left call “downloads” or email doubletfishing@outlook.com
I got an email a few days ago and a couple more from what looked like a cell phone, it keeps coming back. Sorry. Open this and download the sheets using the links at the bottom of the newsletter thanks Rick eepurl.com/iEWonw
