Join our family as we do our favorite winter experience of the year in Florida, the Gaylord Palms ICE Experience. This one of a kind Alpine holiday adventure is like nothing else in Orlando, Florida. Located just off of Osceola Parkway, I4 this luxury resort is convenient to Walt Disney World, Sea World, Universal Orlando, Fun Spot and I-Drive parks. We were able to do this whole experience in about 8 hours at a very comfortable pace. One of the advantages of the ICE and Alpine Village experience is that you pay only for the activities you and your family want to do. KNOW BEFORE YOU GO:
- TICKETS: All activity tickets must be purchased on the website in advance, but you only pay for the activities you want to do! tickets.gaylordpalms.com/?cat...
- MENUS: We ate at Wreckers Sports Bar. If you have specific food needs, it's best to call ahead and see what accommodations can be made and which restaurants will be open. Stef's moto is eat early, eat often. www.taptastego.com/mcogp/outl...
- THINGS TO TAKE: Make sure to wear layers and to take winter gear for the ICE exhibit itself. It is 9-degrees in the exhibit to keep the ice frozen. Neighbors that aren't used to those temps should probably take mittens (or socks for hands) and a t-shirt, a sweatshirt and a hat or ear muffs. The experience provides a winter Parka for everyone.
- PARKING: We paid $35 parking. We arrived early in the day and early in the season. It is not unusual for parking to fill up later in the day and later in the season. Make sure to arrive early, so you don't miss your event times.
- RESTROOMS: Plenty of restrooms with diaper changers are available right outside the Convention hall with the Alpine Village and throughout the resort.
- PRO TIP #1: Pay for Parking before you LEAVE - not when you arrive. It is mobile pay for parking and when we paid early in the morning, it said to exit the property within 30 minutes even though we paid for the whole day.
- PRO TIP #2: If you are doing the scavenger hunt or eating lunch at a restaurant and not on the Alpine Floor with Auntie Anne's and Cinnabon, make sure to allow plenty of time to do them. In my day I allowed 90 minutes for each.
- ACTIVITY CONSIDERATIONS:
--- If someone in your party has a gluten/ wheat / other food allergies, some of the activities may be a struggle for them. Thankfully the cookies at the Mrs. Claus Christmas Traditions presentation were wrapped and labeled.They did offer a dairy-free milk alternative there, too. At the sweet shoppe with the Gingerbread, nothing was labeled, but it was a conventional bake of gingerbread.
--- The Elf Workshop and the Gingerbread decorating are limited to 30 minutes.
--- Also, everyone attending the Mrs. Claus Traditions must purchase a ticket even if they aren't eating the snack. And all children under a certain age must be accompanied by an adult. I mistakenly bought a single child ticket and they contacted me about buying tickets for everyone in the party.
