The Genesis GV70 is an excellent luxury crossover. The electric GV70 is just as good. And fortunately you can get decent real-world range out of it.

For $75k, I would like to see at least 300 miles

The Cadillac Lyriq enters the chat at that EV price point. Drove one recently, really nice, solid, quiet, etc... comparable interior as the GV70E with more range AND qualifies for the full Federal $7500 incentive. 😉

@@NJturtlePowerhow much more range? As I understood it was 260mile

Not a big fan of charging ports in the front and rear of vehicles. What is the added repair cost when there's a substantial front or rear impact? I'm guessing it definitely won't be cheap. 🤷‍♂️

This is impressive considering the size of the car and the horsepower and I think it will suit a lot of people well. If I knew I could reliably charge this at top speed I think I’d be fine with this range, but at the price I think it needs a larger battery. Then again, if you get this used for a lot less it could be a great deal. I haven’t seen one reviewer who didn’t like this car. I like the look of the car for the most part, but I’m a little turned off but the long narrow screen that looks a little far away from the driver. Not sure I’d want to used a controller as I’m used to touching the screen. This might work well as a touch screen, but I wouldn’t know until I test drive it and they are not available anywhere near me. I got tempted to buy one used, but would have to drive a bit far to get it serviced at a Genesis dealership. Maybe my local Hyundai dealership could have handled it.

Can you do a winter test? To see what the reduced output would be thanks 🙏🏾

The problem with this car is that its not a dedicated platform. It shares a platform with the original gas GV70, that has its limitations. Namely, what kind of battery will fit in the unit. I don't think Genesis had much possibility of placing a significantly larger battery in this car. That said 3.1 at 70mph is quite solid for a car of this size and calibre

Great Review! I agree with you that 300 miles EV range is the magic number to get more buyers for this car. I am a big fan of the Korean brands (currently driving a Kia Sorento PHEV), can't wait to buy a pure EV from the brands.

ehhh after 5+ years with Model 3's rated at 300+ but in reality get 240-250mi. on a good day I get by just fine and typically Supercharge only a handful of times a year. 3-4 Hour round-trips are easy enough with 230+ miles of range.

Agreed; great review and video. And agreed, the next improvement that is mandatory for broader acceptance of the Genesis will be more reasonable range. Surely there is some way to fit a 90+ KwH battery to this vehicle, and get a genuine 300+ highway mile range.

Won't make any difference when it comes to cruising. Comfort mode turns off power to the front wheels when cruising. Eco does the same thing and also reduces available power to the rear wheels, but at highway cruising speed the energy consumption results are the same.

@@stephenj280 That's what I was thinking. Perhaps climate control might run differently in Eco?

Not that terrible? It is absolutely terrible for a car that costs 75k!! People want better range and not these crazy horsepower numbers.

Quite pathetic. All Evs today be like the first plasma tv's in 5 to 10 years
@NJturtlePower
@NJturtlePower Год назад
More pathetic are those commenting on tech they do not understand and have no real-world experience with. Been driving Tesla's (2 different Model 3's) myself for 5+ years now...What you going to tell me about EV's that are and and aren't "Mr. Thug" haha?
@TimSmith-db1iu
@TimSmith-db1iu 8 месяцев назад
Ignorant comment and doesn't really make sense. you're saying that TV's no longer exist? TV's will always be around, and companies will utilize the most efficient technology, just like they are doing with automobiles. I'm not an EV owner, but I have done the research, and that is where the industry is heading, and will stay. No doubt, gas cars are an institution, but the technology is getting better and better for EV's, and will get cheaper and cheaper, as long as we keep moving forward. With progress, there will be always be folks fighting the resistance. Get with the times.
@ballathug8404
@ballathug8404 8 месяцев назад
@@TimSmith-db1iu are plasma TVs still around? No. And the same will happen to *current* EV tech. Do you really believe these giant battery packs are the future? Maybe solid state batteries will make more sense but until then you can see why EVs are stockpiling
@TimSmith-db1iu
@TimSmith-db1iu 8 месяцев назад
@@ballathug8404 They stopped making plasma's because BETTER TECHNOLOGY became available. EV's are 10 years ahead of gas cars. Car manufactures are trying to keep up and they pay companies to take apart the EV's to inspect them and then sell them the info to make their cars better. There's lots of misinformation out there on various news platforms, but the facts are that BOTH gas cars AND ev's are slowing in sales due to the economy. Look up the sales of EV's in CA in 2023, it's like 1 and 4 new cars purchased were EV's. You must live in a small town or something. Everywhere I go in Orange County, LA County, San Diego, Santa Barbara, all I see are Tesla's. Another reality about EV's is that once people switch to an EV, they never go back to gas. In my opinion, since traveling to remote locations can be a headache for EV's, I think having hybrid, and an EV is the perfect combo for a family.

Plasma is actually still a pretty nice display if you've got a vintage HD one in working order. Plasma was a fairly mature technology, it just cost too damn much. EV technology has the same price problem currently. And a weight problem. But those things will improve iteration by iteration, even the biggest EV skeptics know it's going to get better. (If they are honest.) Some of these current EVs will be around quite a while, they really are quite simple compared to ICE, and quite good. Others, eh, not so much. Such is the price of being an early adopter. So many different "solutions" being thrown out that some are bound to be duds. People around the world fast charging these early tech lithium batteries is kind of like a giant science experiment. It may seem pathetic but perhaps desperate is more like it. Just my 2¢.
