I think it’s perfect. There’s a need for midsized trucks but most seem too small. This is just a hair bigger but not a full size v8, definitely will consider. Biggest things for our family is having small children, their child/infant seat takes up a lot of room
People need to look at these more over other options. They are super nice and ride great. A lot of work went into the engine with “diesel like aspects” so hopefully the reliability is much improved
LOL, IF you can find one. There are NONE available within a 100 miles radius of me. ALL GMC stealerships do not carry this out of the 12 locations within a reachable driving distance (i.e. not more than 1-1.5 hours). I think GMC is cutting production to keep the price inflated. I won't bother anyway. Will look at their competition. This is why VW was lazy to not bring the Amarok to the States.
@@largol33t1 I was lucky enough to get one in July I quest. Got the AT4 and love it. People will wait years for a Tacoma, if you thing GM is bad just wait and see on these….
You can definitely feel the solid axle on the road in this truck. It does drive better than my 2000 Tacoma though. What doesn't. Anyway, it drives well for a truck.
I agree a manual switch would be better but I can’t honestly think of any time in the 20+ years I’ve had vehicles with automatic headlights that I’ve had anything but auto selected. Set once and forget about it.
You probably don’t drive in a rural setting on back roads or in the winter where you need to warm up your truck and don’t want your lights blasting the neighbors. The lack of headlight switch was a deal killer for me. (And the lack of a six foot bed). I use my bed daily and I need the longer version.
I was ready to order one until I seen they got rid of the diesel. A neighbor of mine was getting almost 30 mpg with his. Dumb move taking that motor out. I do not need it to tow. The purpose of the diesel should not have been to tow. It was for fuel mileage. The fuel mileage of the 4 cylinder is horrible.
I doubt that you can get a full size Sierra for the same price as the Canyon Denali, I recently built one online and the best price i could build with basic options was $10k more than a loaded Denali.
Why oh why are all 'Mid sized' pickups morphing into full size trucks? I went down and looked at this truck in person and it’s HUGE. You’d think after the excitement of the new Maverick in terms of size, manufacturers would take note. I want a smaller truck and I think a lot of other people do too.
I have a 2000 Dakota and took it to the GMC lot and parked it next to the new Canyon. The difference was ludicrous. The Canyon looks absolutely massive next to the Dakota. What I can't figure out is how the Dakota has a longer hood (with a V8), more interior volume and back seat space by far, and the same size bed but ends up looking tiny.
@@ramonconcepcion4958 Well they are; these new midsized p/u's are pretty close to a 20 year old full sized (meaning the full sized have grown as well).
Honestly, sacrifice a bit of luxury and just get a full size truck with the smaller engine. Same MPG but at least you'll have room inside and a proper bed.
In the Detroit Metro area Canyons and Colorado are few. I ordered one (Colorado Z71) 2 months ago and still no build date. I'll give them 2 more weeks, then I will order a new 2024 Ranger.
The engine engineers, collaborate with a diesel department to make the block and includes two timing chains for durability due to the high levels of torque. No timing belts just in case anybody was wondering.
I just need to understand the dimensions. Like is the height with the antenna or no? How tall is it at the hood rather than cab roof? I have a small garage so need the numbers to know if it’ll fit
Correct me if I’m wrong, but shouldn’t a Denali come with retractable steps which is like a Denali Yukon or anything else that’s a Denali typically comes through retractable steps
I like the design. Looks really upscale and modernized. Hopefully reliability is as good as the truck looks. People already experiencing technology issues. Intergrating controllers into the screen is such a bad idea.
These look tiny at my worksite next to half ton and one ton trucks. That said, this size is all I need. I can’t decide whether to wait for the Tacoma or go for a Canyon.
In 2015 I bought a new Canyon. It had so many problems shifting. 3 times back to the dealer and they still couldn't fix it. It had less than 10k but I was sick and tired and took a huge lose and traded it in for a Jeep GC.
I love the truck and looks but the deal breaker is not having a V6 and ext cab version with longer box. Why have such a tiny engine that gets the same MPG as the V6? Turbo just means more parts to fail.
@omgMBP I understand that. What I mean is front lockers and the spool valve shocks. I would rather buy the canyon was equipped. But only the zr2 offers that package. That's what I meant
I guess they made the headlight switch included there because theres a lot of dumb drivers who dont turn their rear lights on while driving at night. Easiest solution is just leave it on auto and forget abt it
Midsize at full size prices sounds stupid no V6 just junk 4 cylinder then if you get a full size junk again 4 cylinder in full size as a base motor wake up gm
Having to restart the vehicle to turn off your lights, is ABSURD in the extreme , WTF was GM thinking ???, these vehicles have become problematic in their day to day operation, big knobs are underrated, one reason i bought a 24 Tundra, was the big knobs, and the straight forward features on the steering wheel, plus the insanely good drivetrain
News update on GMC 2023 Canyon according to Google and CNN etc... If this is true then GMC management really screwed up from not offering 6 cylinder. Thinking that might be cause why they are in last place in sales now. They said they are in last place in sales for mid size pickups for 2023. I got the 2022 GMC Canyon Elevation a few months ago. It's in the 6 cylinder and in 4WD. I didn't go for the 2023 GMC Canyon model cause 6 cylinder is an must for me, and learned from this getting better gas mileage on my 6 cylinder then an 4 cylinder Canyon or Colorado.
@@jackdetlefs1325 idk, just going from what other people comments going by on RU-vid. And I don't have a 4 cylinder no more and never buy another one, not unless it's impossible for me to buy another 6 or 8 cylinder. On mine, my Canyon 6 cylinder in heavy urban areas getting anywhere from about an average of 16 or 17 mpg up to 24 mpg average, or most of the time. But long distance trips got up to 35.8 mpg. And yesterday heard on news the GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Colorado lost 40% of sales, and think it is probably cause they offer them in 6 cylinder no more and I think it is 40% of those people going with Nissan and Honda 6 cylinder mid size trucks. I would had done the same if my Canyon didn't come in 6 cylinder.
Just turn the headlights to "Auto" and they will turn on/off when you start/turn off the truck. You change the hi/low beams with the stalk...just like every other car built in the last 10 years.
Yea I just took home an AT4 last week.. I'm out in southeast Michigan, my dealer wasn't stocked full of them but they did have seven, 3 Elevation 2 AT4 1 E1X and a Denali.. the Denali are a bit harder to find than the others, but there's definitely a few other dealers in the area i saw that have them .. I was lucky to find an AT4 that had pretty much all of the Denali options besides leather and HUD which I didn't mind anyways and was able to add rock rails, tonneau and removable front steps as dealer installed options..To my surprise there's actually more X's around than I had thought there'd be, and some without the E1 edition which lowers the price by about $8k so around mid-upper $50s and you still get basically everything except the front safari bar light bar and winch.. I enjoy weekend off roading but not enough to utilize the front locker and DSSV etc on the X and would've been almost $11k more being an E1 edition...plus I've been wth my dealer over 15 years and I wouldn't think of going anywhere else so I had to choose from what they had.. my AT4 after discounts and accessories still came in under $50k so that sold it for me.. absolutely love it and looking forward to getting it muddy and havin some fun.. Edit, I'm just adding that the Edition One's options are essentially the same as the Desert Boss pack on the ZR2, which is also a $9k option.. over 60k for any premium midsize is hard to swallow but that's just the way of the world now, and these interiors and options are the best they've ever been, especially when compared to other trucks in the segment...
@@lordrayden3045 wanted to grab my paperwork.. so msrp before options and accessories for both AT4 was around $43.9k, after options, tech pack, adaptive cruise, blindspot mirrors, trail cameras, 20" wheels mostly all you just saw in the video besides leather and hud was $47k , but I added the rails, front detachable steps and tonneau which added $1900 so $48.9, you don't have to add those, and I was able to stretch that over my 36 month payments, added about $18 month.. so out the door it was $48.966, I chose to only put 2000 down, 36 months 12k mi a year for $784 month.. without accessories it was about $750, if I had put 3k down, it would've been $721, with accessories 754 the Elevations they had started around $38k, after options about $41k but there's no way I could go without 4x4 and locker, not for Michigan winters, plus the Elevations just aren't optioned well.. Edit, this is a lease if I didn't clarify, not financing which could end up being a whole different set of numbers
I like the looks. Too bad hey left the junky 8-speed transmission in it. There is a Federal class action lawsuit against it. Buyer be-aware no matter what GM says about it being new transmission.
I bought a brand new '15 Canyon. It had a lot of shifting problems. Took it back to the dealer 3 times and they still couldn't fix it. I traded it in with less than 10k. Took a huge lose but I hated the thing.
Those big touch screens look stupid in cars, also it is an obsolete technology, you have to get into an awkward position to press the buttons delicately. So much better with regular buttons. Why can´t more people see that?
I guess you can cash that check from GM now….. The engine is a horrible choice. And a Denali should be WAY more! “Pretty good truck” isn’t good enough.
Unfortunately all that tech is a huge annoyance tbh. Why are all these vehicle manufacturers trying to keep up with Tesla? Or any electric type vehicles❓ There should be more options to combat this but thats just what I think
The Canyon Denali looks awesome! The headlight control via the infotainment system vice on a switch stalk is bizarre. Deal breaker for me. Look to Toyota Tacoma function and reliability. Had two in the past. Owned each for 14 years.
i like my 2023 chevy zr2 colorado better then gmc canyon denali has same or more equipent looks like a beffy midsize truck instead of a hiway princess which is fine i like a beefy looking truck not a truck that guys drive that wear man buns as they go threw the drive thru at starbucks to get thier n thier girlfriends latte
@@Loosie_fur never said it didn't. I don't buy a vehicle to sell it though, I buy it to use it. If resale is the reason you're buying it, you probably aren't needing it.
Like most of GM's line up right now, it's headlights are in the wrong place and looks so weird and just dumb. It's a shame because other than that, it's looks like a nice truck. Still a hard no.
