As much as I liked the look of this trailer...putting a King mattress in it for the video does not mean it's a king bed. That is clearly a short-queen.
Hey Larry, Ian Baker here. I assure you that we didn't change the mattress for video purposes as we would never want to misrepresent a product. Most Mallard floorplans (that aren't murphy beds) have a 72x80" King size mattress. That being said, it does have its flaws such as not having as much support around the edge of the mattress and not having much space on either side of the bed. I like the IDEA of a king bed in a travel trailer, but in reality, I personally PREFER a residential size queen. -Ian Baker
@@campingworld Thanks for the quick response Ian. My apologies. I did not intend to imply that a mattress was swapped out for the video (although reading my original response it sounds that way!). Without actually being in the unit myself, just from the video it appeared that there was no edge support of the mattress and the privacy curtain would cut the end of the bed off it it were closed. To me a queen would seem to fit better. All in all I enjoy your videos and look forward to future ones!
@@LarryKiller I agree with ya here. I understand the idea behind the King bed, but I personally find it a little gimmicky. Your observation is correct that it isn't supported the best around the edges of the mattress and it honestly makes it more difficult to get in and out of the bed as well as make it in the morning. BUT, some people REALLY want a King bed in their RV, so that's what Mallard went with. Personally, while I love a King size bed at home, I'm all for a residential queen in an RV. -Ian Baker
its not though... ive been on the bed specifically because I was looking for a camper with a huge bed. Its much bigger than the queens and extremely comfortable and well made.
