I get the Volkswagen and Hyundai equivalent comparison with price and performance...but were forgetting reliability and for that I will pick Honda any day for peace of mind as well...
I went to the dealership today to see how much they were offering on a brand new 2023 civic si sonic grey and god damn they were trying to do everything in the play book to me by trying to run my credit without me knowing asking me how much I want my monthly car payment to be if I got pre approved already and if I have the check and I didn't answer anything I told them I wanna see an out the door price and if we agree on a price we'll see and it took them 2 hours and 30 minutes to finally show me an out the door price and you wouldn't believe what number they pulled out of there ass $42,350 I laughed and told them is this for the type r and I instantly said no and they tried to charge me 6k in accessories and they were saying that the accessories were mandatory and I was like are they gonna be the same price as on the Honda website and he said no their gonna be more expensive and I told them why you guys make make them yourself in the back you got a warehouse and the quality is better than honda and he stayed quiet the car was bone stock nothing on it and I told him you guys wanna charge me 6k in accessories and the car doesn't even have the HPD kit no tinted windows and even if all the accessories were added it doesn't even come close to 6k all they were adding to the car was film protection and floor mats and he was arguing trying to say that I was supposedly saying that I said he couldn't sell the car for that much and I was like you can sell if for however much you want but I don't have to pay for the price that you wanna sell it to me and he said that I cant go to Costco and say I don't wanna pay that much for something and I said this isn't the same thing you just changed the price a couple times already 🤣 so he said okay thank you for coming and then he got up I got up and shook his hand and while I was walking out he asked how close he was to my number and I said close 🤣 and his finale offer was $34,804 I still told him no and I was already near the entrance when he was giving me these numbers and he said that his GM said that he couldn't go any lower so I left.
The Canadian spec is a lot better than the US spec…. I think you mentioned that the US is a better value but reviews I’ve seen they are saying the opposite… especially things like heated seats and no fog lamps. Both versions of the Si get the same 200 horsepower, front-wheel drive, limited-slip differential, and six-speed manual but the Canadian one receives quite a few creature comforts, including a fully digital instrument cluster with shift lights, fog lights, parking sensors, heated seats, a heated steering wheel, dual-zone climate, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and wireless charging. To add insult to injury, our better-equipped Civic Si actually costs less than the one sold in the U.S. when compared dollar-to-dollar. Although, that whole situation is a bit more nuanced than you might think.
What I meant when I say better value is that it's priced lower than other vehicles as Honda Canada prices are slightly inflated compared to other brands.
@@JimmyMak well let’s put it this way… if you buy a Corolla it’s a lot smaller than a Civic. So that’s why it’s cheaper… I have had 3 CR-Vs, 2010, 2016 & 2020 and I can tell you the new CR-V’s are much bigger and much more expensive than my 2010. In fact I bought my 1st one used in 2012, it was $25K. The new Hybrid Sport Touring, $51K. Not only that but you compare my 2010 in size to the new HR-V… it’s the same size exactly. Instead of a 2.4 it’s a 2.0L non-aspirated engine That’s the main difference. So to me the Civic is now an Accord, and the HR-V is now a CR-V. $37K + for a Accord Si sounds about right. I’ve looked at everything including the Mazda, Toyota, Hyundai and VW equivalents and it’s just a much better value overall including cost of ownership and quality and price. Honda is just hard to beat.
I hear you on the comparison between Elantra N and Type R but here’s the thing… I have both Hyundai and Honda vehicles. Honda maintenance is a lot cheaper and incredible resale value. Hyundai I just took in my Kona N-Line and they did a fuel injection service after 1year… my Honda CR-V after 4 years I’m on the original brake pads and rotors, 80K. I’ve had Toyota too and the maintenance seemed to be a lot more expensive than Honda. Honda dealers have very good service and are very honest. You get what you need done. Hyundai is definitely a better value as a purchase… but TCO could be a lot higher. Great brands… but if you’re comparing Civic now let’s factor in that they’re much bigger now so essentially what you have now is a Sport Integrated Accord… Corolla and Elantra are much smaller. Mazda CX-5 is probably a better comparison.
These new si are a terrible purchase way to much for what you get way to underpowered and way to similar to the regular civic you get the exact same engine like what the heck lol I miss Honda making the si the civic to get the last real civic si was the 9th generation and 8th with the k20 and k24 rip si you are no longer unique compared to regular civic. Honda only care bout the type r now the si should’ve had like 250 hp by now
Did the 8th/9th gen have the shifter and auto rev match from the Type R? I don't think so. Y'all should stop the crap of saying the "last Si this, the last Si that". This Si is the best and most timeless Honda has ever made

@@1anrethe thing with people like this is that they’re always chasing HP and nothing really else, which is the wrong way to be evaluating an Si in the first place. 11th gen Si has a whole slew of improvements compared to prior gen including better struts and bushings literally from the Type R. If these people really want just pure HP increases, they should be looking at a Dodge Demon or the likes, not Honda
Your channel seems to be young and growing so I'd just give you quick feedback; Your opinion at the beginning of the video where you said the Canadian spec Si is a lessee value than the American spec is highky incorrect and misleading to your viewers. Only the Canadian spec has heated front/rear seats, heated steering wheel, Qi wireless charging, rear USB ports, fog lights, & the complete fully digital instrument cluster. The all season tyres you mention at the end of the video are not lack of options but a preference for a set of specific tyres. Just note this next time when you want your review to cater to the the Canadian auto audience.
Thanks for the video Jimmy. I have been interested in this car for aome time. I like the features that we have here in Canada but I still think $42,000 CAD on the road is a lot for a Civic Si.
