I have had the base model now for 4.500 km. Paid 31.800.- € with pearl effect paint job as option. A comparable VW Golf would cost 10.000.- more. I got one of the few which were on offer - Honda seems to be unhappy with the German/Austrian market and does not supply many. I am really happy with it. In Winter I was driving short distances and the consumption was 6 l/100 km (you may convert if you like). But in town with a warm engine it can do with less than 3 l. Warranty in Austria 10 years!!!! Honda provided fantastic leasing and insurance. Best car deal I ever made.
Nice! I've had mine since 12th of October and have put 25100km on it since then. Sadly in Gibraltar (where I bought my car from), they only have a 3 year warranty. My previous KIA Cee'd had a 7 year warranty. I paid £25995 (~€29100) for the Sport trim in Premium Crystal Blue.
I wish the price in Ireland isn't so high, it starts from 47000€, that is just a bit too much, for comparison, that's 10K more than what it's being sold for in UK.
I’ve had mine for a month now and I love it, it’s very quick off the mark and very fuel efficient. I agree with you about the charging mat being slippery but since I have a cover on my phone, it sits perfectly. One correction I’ll make is that the boot mat is an optional extra. Great review.
The 2023 Prius has a great solution to the charging mat slipping problem. The wireless charger is a vertical slot in the center armrest area which you drop your phone into, rather than a horizonal pad you place the phone on. There are spring-loaded calipers inside that adjust to the size of your phone so it doesn't slip forward and backwards either. The only way the phone can be dislodged by the motion of the car is if the car suddenly jolts vertically, and hopefully that's going to be pretty rare since most people aren't going to be driving on really bumpy roads at high speeds.
To complain about grease in the door handles is a bit stupid - you might not like seeing it but it's there for a specific reason, and every single time the car is serviced they should reapply it. Sure it might not affect you but if you ever want to see decent examples around in the future it's little details like this that allow that to happen. After all one of the best ways to keep the cars carbon footprint low is for it to simply exist for longer...
I watch your car tests from Belgium and I must say that they are really the best on RU-vid. Clear, concise, documented, detailed but not boring, and objective. Thank you. Keep up the good work👍
Have had my Civic for 3 months now....and am seriously impressed. I traded in a 5 yo Golf GTI hoping it would be similar-ish. The Civic is a step change improvement. It feels spacious, swift and sorted. Ergonomically it's well considered, being practical, tactile and stylish. The hybrid set up delivers plenty of speed efficiently, quietly and with refinement. It sort of out-Golfs the Golf. Only grumbles are the over cautious lane departure system (it doesn't like crossing the centre line when you have to avoid parked cars) and the fuel tank could be bigger. Ps. Loved the Civic review/s Rory.
I agree with you on the lane departure system. I turn mine off when I get in the car as it does my head in haha. Shame I can't turn it off once and that's it until I wish to enable it again.
I fully agree with you. I have the Civic e:hev (actually, it's my wife's car) since the 5th May and the only gripes I have with it are: (i) the (very small) tank capacity, because we do plenty of relatively long highway trips with it; (ii) the lane departure system, really intrusive; and (iii) the quite weak FM tuning system, as it easily looses station signal. Other than that it is proving to be a wonderful car, quite refined, spacious and economical (incredibly economical around town) albeit punchy when needed.
I had the Advanced version since October and after driving 12K miles, I love it. It is very relaxing and comfortable to drive and it allows you to drive quickly if you need it. I totally recommend it.
I've got the sport trim as I have no need for the advance model where I live as I'm in warmer climate. I've done over 17000mi in it since mid-October and love it. Excellent car and it's going in for its second service on Weds haha.
Scrolled past your original review of this car earlier and stopped for longer than normal, really is a decent looking car inside and out albeit nothing that special. Glad it earned another video.
Thank you for mentioning about the boot lift not having an option for it to be electronic. As a person with limited mobility with my hands, I end up looking at crossovers instead due to the option of electronic boot lift even though I love hot hatches. This was a thoughtful observation on your part. Great and useful review 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
I’m gonna hazard a guess that the wireless charging thing would be less of an issue for phones that live with cases on them. I love this car. I’ve already owned a Civic and had no plans of ever getting another one. But this one…
@@paultasker7788 Dunno, wagons still sell a lot in Europe and especially here in Nordics. Sedans pretty much don't sell at all, but hatches, wagons and crossovers are the norm. with wagons at least 40% of the market.
@@mcdick EU is a primary SUV market, since familiy as a concept is dying in europe, so 7 seaters became obsolete in europe. Most 30 year olds don't have families, let alone kids.
I’ve got the Integra, which is pretty similar minus the amazing fuel economy (still pretty good though). I’ve been loving it. Interior is so ergonomic and it handles really well with enough power to be fun when I want a little. Sound system is also nutty. Fantastic car.
We have this car in Thailand (but different external design). Our testers generally get it low 8's for 0-100km/h. Perhapp you have better quality fuel there and testing in much cooler conditions.
Thanks for this review. I ordered the sport in Dec22 for delivery Apr23. This was pushed back to Sept23, so I was about to cancel and go for an available CRV, but this review reminded me why I should wait for the civic.
Excellent review of an excellent car! Most of the "bad"s didn't seem that bad, to me anyway 😊 I'd add a couple of small blobs (of easily removable, at a later stage) of glue from my glue-gun to either the charging tray surface or the back of my phone to (hopefully) eliminate that sliding around issue. I'd also wipe the excess grease from those nasty areas with a degreaser & cloth before you could say John Travolta 😅
I own a 10th gen and was impressed with that car, but after sitting in the new gen at the Auto show here and feeling the door clunk, the nice materials, everything really is a HUGE step up from anything else in the segment. The civic seems like a better value than the accord nowadays, not to mention better quality. just wow...
Having Honda Civic for two months now, I'd add to the "bads" that infotainment system is very glitchy: many times bluetooth disconnects while speaking, won't recognize my USB drive, etc. Furthermore it would be good to have an option to turn off predictive part of cruise control (as I believe American Civics can). Volume of a fuel tank is a bit too small (40l) - however it'll give you 550-650km range. And after all I'd agree that the road noise is the biggest deficiency. All in all I'm very happy with my Civic (fast, and responsive, while economical; comfy seats and ride even on 18" wheels, I feel safe in it; quite unique car). I'm not quite certain about Civic being expensive car: finding a hatchback with the equivalent power and equipment would probably set you off with even higher price.
This new Civic is one cool car. The price is not so bad when you look at rivals and consider what you're getting. Even look at price's of models from the class below. Well over £20k for a well spec'd Fiesta or Polo these days...
I test drove this car a few months back when I was looking for a replacement for my diesel A-class and loved it for all the reasons you describe, but you didn't mention one thing. There is no plug-in or EV version, and having had solar panels installed last year it was a non-starter despite the relative fuel frugality. I got a Leaf instead and am delighted with it.
The pre facelift Civic interior was so out dated but this definitely stepped it up and look more modern, really like the swooping roofline towards the back, coupe style but actually a hatchback, great job Honda!
I love my civic. I could see those complaints being addressed in the integra but these cars are suppose to keep the price reasonable in this unreasonable market.
I test drive two of those, one on a German Autobahn with 210 km/h. And I think the noise is really good, only started to get loud at 180km/h and even then not too loud.
I own an 11th Gen civic as well. Although it's a bit different in the u.s, its still very similar. The road noise issues however are downright a deal-breaker for some ppl. I would rec looking into this issue if you ever plan on buying one.
I wish more reviewers would comment on the approach angle of these cars. The front drive cars with their super long front overhang and aggressively styled front bumpers do not give the best approach angle and this can often scrape in multi-level car parks or even some driveways and intersections. Scrapes underneath the bumper don't bother me per se, but it's the thought of potentially misaligning the bumper that concerns me.
Good point. It's not a huge issue, but I have definitely scraped the underside of the front bumper on my 2018 civic a few times, they're not great for speedbumps.
I watched this video because I like Rory and he's too the point reviews. As for the car, thankfully the days of me having to commute to and from work and do the family stuff are behind me so having to worry about practicality and fuel economy are for other to care about. Next car review please
I own one and agree with the review...although with a case my phone doesn't move around. The boot struts are definitely underpowered for the job but i do love the car otherwise.
Concerned about the road noise. How does it compare with the VW Golf and Ford Focus for road noise? Has the new Civic had a price increase over it's predecessor? If so, by how much?
Advance arriving in Oct for me 👍I liked the sunroof and full (eco)leather and the extra $ were worth it What Honda would hopefully do is create a (global) Si hybrid version with 220PS 😁
Haha, mine hopefully will arrive in June/July. Order done in October 2022. Also paid for the advance version. Love the sunroof and the multi-beam headlights. I got the premium illumination package as extra. Apart from cupholders, you have pedals and door illumination and... puddle lights (which i though it gives a premium touch). Good luck with yours!
What happened to the entry level Elegance version, priced under £30k? Just disappeared from the configurator and they already increased prices by £2k on all other models before delivering hardly any cars to the UK?!
We need to look several decades earlier for the best & longest-lasting Honda cars. I had a 2003 Accord sedan that, unfortunately, rusted away. To replace it, I found a fine rust-free 1999 Accord....bright, responsive, lots of windows, & roomy, I'll hope for another when this is done, if ever. Honda doesn't build them like this now. Oh, it also has an original working cassette tape deck. Now, all those cassettes I find cheaply at tag sales can be mine!!
Some people mention also poor or adjustable lumbar support of the seats as a drawback. Hopefully the noice insulation will get better with facelift (which Honda improved in several models in the past when post-facelift versions were better). The biggest flaw is however that wagon/tourer version with roof rails does not exist (it is so handy when I travel with my kayak or skis on the roof). That is the only thing which repels me from instant buying this car.
I ordered the Sport model in January and I am impatiently waiting for what will hopefully be an August delivery. It really does look the part. Thank you for your review.
@@Tyreman22 That is great news. Looking online at a few forums and there does appear to be a lot of vehicles have or are due to arrive in the near future. I hope all goes well for you.
@@Tyreman22 currently the order books are closed for the Civic. Apparently it’ll open sometime in July. I’ve been waiting to order one for months. My local dealer says once the orders reopen, it shouldn’t take too long for a delivery. I was quoted end of July, early August - which is a similar timeframe to yours.
I like it. People pipe up with criticisms but I'm piping up to say it's a nice looking car and I bet it drives nicer than alot of its rivals. We've often seen car design look like other vehicles but I don't see it being an issue in this car.
Ordered an Advance in the UK last November with an expected delivery of the end of May - now told it will be late August / September beforeI I get it - put that on the bad list!!
I have a 6MT 1.5T in the US, with an actual spare tire included. And zero waiting; it was on the dealer lot. Brits wait from 6 months to never to get one. I would like the pano sunroof tho.
Great review! I have had my advanced model since February and absolutely love it. Besides being fuel efficient, its stylish and has all the gadgets you can wish for at that price. The Bose sound system and sunroof are killer!
Great car. I do wish honda kept their diesel option around as that engine was unbelievable with mpg. Also - the saloon model in the US is stunning. If they brought those back and threw in some more sound proofing it'd be a winner and justify the price.
When you have to talk about the grease in the door handle to say something less positive about a car... it pretty much says how good the product is. For me the grease is welcome, as it is there to lubricate and protect and I do not touch it to open the door/boot. The low profile tires look good, but probably doesn't help with road/in cabin noise.
I have a somehwat dumb question perhaps. But how would it sound if you put a new exhaust under it / exhaust vents? Would you even be able to hear it or would it even sound nice given that the car only has 1 gear technically? How would it sound for bystanders? I plan on getting this car but i might wanna do something small with the exhaust down the line. I know this is not the ideal car for that type of stuff but me personally that is how i wanna spend my money
there are two things comparing to more premium cars which lag behinв, but which are acceptable - road noise and bad steering (hard to park in tight corners due to low max. angle to which wheels turn).
I bet you could reduce the road noise (and improve mpg) by going down to 17-inch or 16-inch wheels. Having more tire sidewall and a slightly lower pressure should cut the noise.
As soon as he mentioned road noise and wind noise. Nah i was going to buy this but big put off for me is noisy cars on motorway. Specially for the price honda charges for this i expect the car to be well quiet
I'm watching the video and feedback-ing at the same time. Fuel economy - I've just done a trip from Madrid to Barcelona in mine and the trip computer was 668.8km and I filled up with 31L of petrol. This was at 110km/h on the motorway. Worked out at 61mpgish. I've covered 25150km since the 12th of October. Speed - I sometimes put my car into sports mode and boot it from traffic lights. I love it. Lights - I do find them perfect for the job. I find multi-beam a little gimmicky. Boot - brilliant size for me. I don't mind opening the boot myself. Practicality could do with a chilled glove box for the chocolate bars haha. Price - I paid £25995 for the Sports trim (all I needed) in Gibraltar. I can't believe how expensive they are in the UK! Charging unit - I agree. I always use Android Auto, so it's plugged in via cable. Road noise - I agree. I've been sat in the CR-V hybrid and it's far quieter due to the tyre profiles. Overall, I fully agree with you. I love my Civic for it's economy and handling. Great fun!
UK orders are difficult to acquire due to the parts supply in Japan. Apparently, they've stopped production for the UK spec version until December. Not sure if other countries are affected. USA apparently not affected. Plus, this week they've put the prices up another £1000 🙄
There is an indentation in the boot so it looks like one will fit in. I managed to fit one in my previous civic. The battery on the ehev is under the back seat so it shouldn’t affect the boot.
Yes ask any HGV driver how cool is the auto high beam is ,They suck you get blinded till it works out that it cant see over the crash barrier and dips the lights.
I‘m thankful for every review that points out that putting all your controls into touchscreens and touchsensitive surfaces is utter bs. I‘m glad some manufacturers are jumping off that bandwagon already (Citroën,…).
The main problem with this car at the moment is that it is no longer sold anywhere in the world. Even in Japan where it is produced. This is due to a big problem with the supply of electronic parts for Honda. Some motorcycle models are also concerned. I ordered my Honda civic on December 28, 2022. For the moment it will be delivered at best in May or June 2024.

Im currently driving a 2019 Honda jazz (Honda Fit). With Auto headlights & auto high beam. Generally works very well, but the auto high beam can get confused if the sensor is covered in condensation. Also until v recently (software update?) if I used the high beam manually the auto high beam wouldn’t work until either the car had been switched off and on again or the lights were switched down to side lights and back to Auto….but this has now been resolved. For reference my car is the petrol, not hybrid, no turbo, 1.3 I-VETEC Cvt automatic. Currently maxing out at 51.2mpg average. Was down to 47mpg average for a couple of weeks during the coldest part of winter. Should return to 52mpg+ average once we hit 20c consistently. This is a hilly part of U.K. so if you live in a flat country with similar temperatures, you should get better mpg. Using E10 standard unleaded….these cars are designed to take E5/E10 and the owners manual also says E10+….I’m guessing E15 will work too. The few things I don’t like about it? Paint (it’s metallic dark blue) is poor. You will need to get a spotting in pen for all the stone chips. Paint shows every mark, every imperfection. Very difficult to clean & make look like new. Maybe choose white paint? Climate control is a touch panel unit on mine….if you get the poverty spec trim you get manual air con with rotary dials. Touch screen without any feedback is a hateful design. The ride is bumpy…this is very noticeable on the rough broken roads with potholes everywhere at the moment. On a decent road it’s perfectly acceptable. There’s a few rattles from trim deep within the dashboard. The build quality, fit and finish of interior, isn’t quite as good as a VW Polo of the same age.
