I agree with last comment on BSM. I currently own a 2020 CRV (EX-L) and could not imagine it without BSM. I know the body style has changed a little, but the blind spot on mine is HUGE. I understand Honda has to remove stuff to get the price down, but that is a safety feature and should be on EVERY car they, and other car makers, make.
I mean older cars don’t have it and many people are more than capable to drive safely. You just have to take extra precautions. Yes it’s nice to have BSM but it’s not a need. You should be able to drive without it under any circumstance. Driving is a big responsibility don’t leave it to just the car.
My 2017 Mazda 3 has BSM and I wouldn’t buy a new car without it. It’s not for the 99/100 times that you see everything around you when making a lane change, it’s for the one time that you don’t. My BSM has saved me from potentially serious accidents in the seven years I’ve had my car and it’s a must for me in new vehicles. My wife has a 2012 Civic without BSM, and of course I can still drive it safely. BSM just makes avoiding accidents that much easier.
Yes I was at the dealership and they sell sport model with "B" meaning blind spot missing due to chip shortage. The guy said some people do not want. Honda is very tricky.
I still feel this has too many features. I wouldn't be a verse to taking out the power, mirrors, the power, windows, etc. And making a DX model. Something where reliability is put above everything else, even to the point of having a naturally aspirated 2 L engine instead of the turbo 1.5. 1.5. that I would buy if it was a DX naturally aspirated no turbo, no hybrid manual mirrors, and fully analog gauges. Even if it had a two speaker sound system just in the front. I make it about 22 or 23,000
I agree. I get the chip shortage and all that mess but take away a feature that’s less essential like wireless charging, lumbar, power seats, anything but Blind Spot.
Got a 2024 lx model and happy with it. Don't need to pay extra for stuff I don't want or use. Don't want sunroof, but BSM would have been nice to have. Like that windows are not tinted. I can get local tint shop to do for less $ & guaranteed. This is a good point A to B suv. Lots of accessories can be found for far less than dealers. Not OEM, but gets the job done. I think fairly quiet & smooth ride. Priced fair & my dealer took 2000 off MSRP + a 750$ honda rebate due to honda loyalty plan. + got great trade in, so very happy with the final price for a very good entry level of a great suv.

It's a shame that they don't offer an upgraded sound system as a standalone option. Everything else about these base trims is pretty great. What really bothers me, though, is the lack of LX and EX hybrids. Practically speaking the attractiveness of a hybrid is spending less on fuel... who wants to blow all that saved cash on car payments instead?
I just read in Europe Honda only sells hybrids. The cars go to the countries with incentives or laws. I wish I could purchase a loaded care with cloth seats. The Acura has suade seats bot no dealership in my city.

LX appears to be a good value, especially with Adaptive Cruise included. The windows can always be tinted all around for about $300 but...those wheels: several years down the road, the black painted wheels will start to rust (unless your car is always washed/garaged). It'll look like crap and some of the gray paint will scuff off of those wheel covers too.
I have 2014 CRV and like it a lot. The display is smaller and less obtrusive than on new model, nicely built into the dash. Plus being install deeper it has no glair and is readable at any lightning. For not having GPS who needs that obnoxious display like drive in movie theater screen
In Canada, lx has a remote start, keyless entry, and heated seats. Also $1.5k cheaper than in the US. I'm driving it few days and it’s an amazing car with all that features (Honda sensing)🎉
We have the 2017 LX AWD and love the 2.4 liter with the CVT trans. The 2.4 feels perfectly matched with just the right amount of torque. The 1.5 liter turbo with the CVT doesn't impress me. What will make the CVT last longer is being easy on the hard acceleration. Keep up on servicing of the transmission.
It is a bit mean of Honda not to have at least one USB port for the back passengers. These days they are an absolute necessity and besides one USB outlet is not going to cost that much to install.
Will this still have the fuel injection problem with gas getting into the engine and mixing with the oil? This including excessive carbon buildup on the fuel injectors?
Now if only they bring back the LX Civic and EX Pilot. As for the Odyssey, Ridgeline, and Passport, hopefully thise get entry trims when those get redesigned
The Honda pilot EX was replaced with the Honda pilot sport it is not a higher trim level. It is equivalent. They are also bringing back the pilot. LX although I’m sure it will be incredibly short supply.
It’s because of supply storages my 2023 Honda crv sport touring has blind spot monitoring but when we went to the Honda dealership we looked at the ex l tirm without blind spot monitoring
I had a 2016 civic ex, 2019 civic hatchback ex and I currently have a 2022 CRV exl. I loved all the features of the ex, more options than most car companies for a comparable trim. To get a moonroof heated seats and remote start you would have to go to a higher trim level. And my car insurance was cheaper the more safety features you have. The only reason I went up to the exl is because I have 2 kids now and I need leather seats so I can wipe them off 😂
Guess you never heard of mazda lol , heated seats aren't hard to get along with a moonroof and remote start from the phone lol now all you're missing is the head up display and vented seats for the same price u paid for the Honda lol
The larger 18” and 19” alloy wheels are dealbreakers for me. Steel wheels are stronger, easy to repaint if damaged and being smaller in diameter they provide a better ride. 18” & 19” wheels are idiotic on a family SUV.

At 18:10 you mention that the 1.5L turbo engine is the same as the last Generation. That generation had a problem with gasoline smells in the cabin, because the high pressure fuel pump forced gasoline past the rings of the pistons and into the motor. In turn the oil was diluted and you could smell gasoline when you unscrewed the oil fill cap. this was referred as to have "made oil", because the oil level would increase over time. Is this really the same 1.5L Turbo engine?
@@dreadlord76 Problem usually starts to show after 60 thousand miles at some point, and some reference around 80,000. The problem is most likely the seals breaking down or not designed to handle the pressure of the fuel injection... Now with this car, you can choose not to use the Eco mode and will, I think, reduce the risk of that. Do expect however to keep a very close eye on it and get the necessary repairs done before it becomes a serious issue .
They need to make a trim with all the safety sensors completely removed, and maybe the rear camera. I'm used to the Shoulder check, looking 2-3 cars ahead, using passenger seat as support to turn my back and checking rear and cracking the door open and checking rear. Could be saving so much inflation money. possibly roll-up windows too?? 😍
The car is nice. But they don't give you all-season mats for the car. I bought the car. Once I did, they said you need to buy the all season mats by your own. That is shame!!!
There is one difference beyween the ex/lx and the exl that i would have liked to see in exl. Its the contrast colors on the seats. They didn't offer that for exl.
Just a heads up.. the price you mentioned is for the CRV LX 2WD. CRV LX AWD is $29,910! I just bought mine and wanted to inform those who are looking for an AWD.
I thought hubcaps died in the early 2000s. Yuck. It's also pathetic that they aren't offering their entire safety suite standard at this point. They must think these are gonna sell, but who's buying? You're giving up so many nice features for a relatively small price cut.
Nobody ever mentioned the wipers cannot be lifted straight up freely because the hood would block them. That is very very inconvenient for drivers in the snowy states.
After looking online, there are other options for wheels besides the cheap hub caps. You could upgrade the wheels to the 18 inch black alloy wheels and still get the LX cheaper than the EX
base model is the way to go, you can add all those niceties when you have the budget (power tail gate, upgraded speakers, various trims, Head unit etc)
LX for the win! LX matte black grill is nicer LX wheel are simpler. Who cares about styled wheels? That is a win for LX LX matte spoiler is a win too. While BSM would be nice would actually prefer that to adaptive cruise. So glad they brought back LX! Wish a LX Passport would return too. Simple always better.

no blind spot monitoring? reduced screen brightness? I think Honda couldn't make other trims as electronics shortage So they brought up the LX trim. Its easy to rip-off American than any other
This is what we purchased and has lots of accessories coming from 2008 vw rabbit. My wife wanted cloth seats. The color is metallic gray and very nice. Safety features are good as we are 71. I even finally got a cell phone number and data to connect to the navigation screen.😅
Really idiotic of Honda to remove the BSM from these trims. I get it, times are tough with the chip and parts shortages across the globe, but you would think they would remove an accessory feature and not a safety feature… In a smaller car I can see how not having BSM is somewhat acceptable with smaller pillars and more visibility in the blind spots, but not on a family SUV. I mean, they should throw in physical blind spot mirrors or convex mirrors instead of doing nothing. Aside from that, I like the design language here on both models. Honda stepped up their interior game for sure. Personally, I would rather get a CX-5 2.5L S model if I was in the market for a base model SUV. -AWD standard -BSM standard -Leather wheel standard And all of the features as the LX for around 28k, depending where you buy it from.
I had to install a plywood board under spare tire cover because mine cracked. Nothing in manual about weight restrictions. Honda did replace under warranty.
Nice review, we have owned several "LX" models. Honda got greedy and did away with them. People should look elsewhere. After owning nine Hondas we switched back to Toyota
No remote start no tint manual adjusting seats no heated side view mirrors blah blah... Meh minor stuff... No problem... Did the fix the oil dilution issues?
i would like to see what the sound level is on the hybrid sport done on the same road as the others since the first time was on a rough Cali road. I test drove the EX and the road noise was too much
Did they due away with the answer and hang up phone buttons on the steering wheel for the 2023 LX? I only see it on the screen, so safety not a thing for Honda anymore if I have to take your hands off the wheel to answer and hang up a call?
So you’re telling me I can get more space, more power and better fuel efficiency than the HRV sport for the same price? Only trade off is oil dilution. I’ll take it. Swap the wheels for nicer ones and done.
The new CRV on the outside is not impressive at all, the back looks like a Volvo on the inside if I see that it is very spacious but that 1.5 turbo engine does not convince me at all. love drew
The RAV4 LE is way better. You get an NA engine. A real transmission. Tinted windows and blind spot monitor. Not to mention you get radar cruise and all the safety gizmos. You also get all auto windows with the RAV. This CRV will be junk by 150k.
@@davidandrews8007 I ended up buying the EX-L for my wife. The amount of extras it has was well worth it and I basically got it for the price of a EX. They tried having the price marked up $5k over msrp but ended up getting the car out the door for under sticker.
Completely agree. There needs to be bigger price differences between the trim levels. I’m assuming they only change in price by a couple grand so consumer will just option higher if I’m going to buy a vehicle and drive it for the next 10 years who cares about $2500 right?
It’s worth the extra money (assuming BSM was available… even without it) to get the EX. Remote start alone is worth it depending on your climate. I’m assuming it has access to the HondaLink app to remote start it too. LX models never seemed like a value to me. Just too much missing for a few car payments over the life of a loan.
Living in Rochester NY, the remote start is great! I have a 2019 civic sport, and I don't think there's been a day where I haven't used it. I guess my question to myself is, would I pay 3k more for that feature alone...
Not sure if it’s still the case but I know in the past, you could buy a key fob for the higher trim model and use it on an LX and get the remote start since it was already built in. This happened with the accords at least

Can't understand why there is that huge hump in the load floor with the back seats down. Check out the Rogue and it's absolutely flat. Even last year's CRV was rather flat.
@@carapapenfuss2663 Nope, you can't in the new 2023 crv's..and..they took away the pull levers in the back hatch area to lay the seat backs down from that hatch area. Don't understand why they deleted those two items for 23.
Is crazy how Honda now is forcing you to get with hybrids models with this CRV’s models they just made Sport mode and Sport Touring only with Hybrid and they left the ship @ss version for gas, I personally love the Sport Touring but I don’t want Hybrid I don’t trust a Hybrid car for a Long term car also is not rear cameras in this new models and forget about the tire space on the tailgate rear door now is the battery 🔋 lol also no charge power for the back seats and forget about ventilated seats and panoramic sunroof
