Honda says first oil change is at 500mi and they don’t require a filter change, but I did. My second oil change is at 4k. I don’t ride it hard, but have ridden it in temps up to 110 degrees. Honda Oil ($11qt) and HIFLO filter (HF117 $7.33) are less than $20 and it’s easy to change. Check the magnetic drain plug for any metal shavings and wipe clean. With filter out, lean the bike to the right to drain out all the oil, then wipe it clean. Replace the crush washer when reinstalling the drain bolt if you have one. There are many good oils out there if you can’t find the Honda oil. I use Castrol Actevo in my R1’s. Make sure you get motorcycle oil that meets JASO standards as it needs to lubricate the gearbox too.

wrap a little tin foil on the pipes before you drain the oil so it keeps oil off them. easy clean up and no smoking later.

about to do my first oil change myself thanks for sharing this, had appointment at dealership but they cancelled first date second date they booked on holiday they were closed for and booked third date but it was weeks away so about to do it myself they also priced oil change at $235 which i thought was outrageous they tried to say oh well oil cost and shop charges 85 an hour but numbers still didn't add up they sold me the oil when i bought the bike for $16 but some how tried saying its about 100 for oil an 85 hour shop time still wasn't making sense on how it would be 235 and that was just oil change no filter change nothing so my plan was to get it done at a shop so i had some sort of proof my bike was maintained and all that but with the hassle of appointments an the price i cant justify going to shop for this so I'm gonna try an do it myself an close friend has offered to help me as well so seeing this video was nice to see basics an what I'm getting into an all i gotta say is I'm very happy i didn't pay someone almost $250 for something that will cost me basically nothing but time as i already bought the oil friend gave me the filter and have all the tools really just need a nice day to be outside to do it. thanks for sharing this video very well done easy to follow along with what your doing sound was little low but that could be my computer. have great rest of your day thank you :)

I’m am beyond excited this video encouraged you to do it yourself. Your story is the reason why I did mines myself. The one dealership I went to said something about a inspection or complete service that would be an extra $70ish dollars. It’s practically criminal to charge past $40 for an oil change on these bikes. When you do complete the oil change come back and let me know how smooth it went. Thanks for sharing your story and watching. I am working on getting my audio better amongst other things! Take care!

Thank for the vid bro! I bought my 2023 Grom 6 months ago and am just getting to 750-800 miles. I was gonna take it into the dealer to get the oil changed but I think I’m just gonna go ahead and do it in my garage. Looks very straight forward. I love that Honda made it so easy to work on this bike. By the way, how much of a difference have you seen with the Mods you stated? Any change in the top speed? Main differences? Thanks again bro!

No problem! I’m glad you enjoyed it. The Grom is so approachable. I’m glad you will be doing the oil change yourself. I have noticed it holds 55-60 mph easy now without the need of a full tuck. The Chimera intake is off my Grom right now. So I’m running the tune and cam with the stock intake and it’s still performing well.

How easy is it for the performance mods and getting it tuned?
@mintmotos3650
@mintmotos3650 5 месяцев назад
It’s pretty straightforward. I haven’t made a video on it but it’s more approachable than you would think. Definitely get a feeler gauge so you can gap the valves. And everything else is simple with the directions. If you have any trouble reach back out to me and I’ll help you out.

How many uses can the crush washer and o-ring be used for?
@mintmotos3650
@mintmotos3650 8 месяцев назад
Good question. I didn’t replace mines I think I’ll change it next oil change but they are supposed to replaced every oil change. Some people just reuse until it leaks. I’m kind of in between the two extremes. It’s cheap enough that I’ll have one on hand but I am not afraid to reuse my current one a few times.

does this year come with an oil screen? if so do you have to clean it?
@mintmotos3650
@mintmotos3650 Год назад
Yes these bikes do but that requires a lot more work to get access to. They shouldn’t need cleaning until around 7500 miles.
