Picked up my white Hornet yesterday and already covered 200 miles. The bike is a complete hoot to ride. It looks better in the flesh too but OK its no oil painting. However riding it you completely forget what it looks like. I've had a lot bigger bikes that have been a lot less fun. Parked it up and 2 guys came over to ask about it and both said they thought it looked good. Its a second bike for me and £7000 was my limit and I think new its the best 7 grand bike you can get at the moment. 👍
@@philtucker1224 So the OTR was indeed £6999, but I went for Honda's service plan (incs 3 services), the Quick Shifter, Heated Grips, and the slider guards, so it came out more. I'll get the invoic and let you know!
Great review as always Dan. That is such a good bike for the money. I am sure I could live with the slightly snatchy throttle. Still debating a CB650R though as that 4 cylinder sound is addictive :) Have a great weekend sir and see you on the next one.
After riding the 750, the 650 really felt meh with normal riding, engine wise. Really need to wring that engine out to keep up with the 750 at its midrange, wich is logical given the engine designs. The sounds of both bikes are amazing in their own way.
The Hornet looks way better in person than its pics, or how it looks in videos. It actually looks quite musculer in person. It also sounds damn good in person too. It has such a deep, low down, grunty roar, incredible for a stock with a C/C. The CB650R ain't got nothing on the handling of the Hornet. Its acually a little combersome comparitivly. Put it this way, I've upgraded to the Hornet from a Yamaha MT-03 and the Hornet is even more agile than it is. Whatever you do, don't decide unless you've tried it. It's so damn good!
@@acvn-hg9gy yeah it’s about what you like isn’t it. To be honest I prefer the 4 cylinder sound even though you have use the gears a little more but that’s personal preference isn’t it.
@@mindcave I love my CB650r, I think I will wait until they figure out some better styling for the Hornet. It looks like a CB500r. I'm sure (hope) Honda will fix that.
Nice and brief review of the bike! I’ve got Honda cb500f 2019 at the moment. I wish there’s already a hornet when I was looking for a higher cc bike but who knows maybe in the future will have the Honda hornet. Happy riding! 😊
I bought one, being of an age I'm pretty much uninterested in a bikes looks just how they perform. This is now my favourite bike, though my Buell Cyclone runs it pretty close purely for sentimental reasons. My 98 r1 can go, as can my tracer 700. I'll keep the bmw xcountry as it does a different type of job and the mt07....is my wife's. Be nice to have more space in the garage.
Several people have commented on the Hornet's looks. I would have thought that Honda would offer a retro-styled version, but as far as I can tell that's not on the table (yet).
Was at the Honda garage this afternoon. This looks a nice bike in white or black with the red frame. Second bike maybe? Then I saw the CB650R which I just think looks gorgeous. I need to ride both plus the GSX8S. Or maybe another second hand Street Triple. Decisions, decisions....🤔😂
Shame the look is not the best one, more like bigger cb500..but a nice engine 👍. The price is ok, but with options maybe too much. Betwen the Honda and the Suzuki 8S, witch one for you is better?.
This came out just after i got my Leoncino 800, this would have been a good consideration. Think i would still opt for the Leoncino though! Hope you do a review on this soon! (you can borrow mine!)
I sat on one at the NEC and was surprised how comfy it was and for the money and spec i would say it's at the top of its class. And I'm with you saying king is weird 😁 Good work👍
Genuine question - has anyone, in the history of motorcycling, actually said, "that round headlight looks awful. People would like a complicated, angular, insect-head looking piece of plastic, a lot more than a circle." Honestly, why is it so hard to just /not/ make it look hideous?
I get a lot of negative comments about round headlights. So it seems everyone has their own taste. Honda missed the mark with this one looks wise though.
Strange😁 i really like the look and color options. But in my opinion, honda has to fix the throttle issues !!! My 2011 VFR 1200F also has "LOW" speed throttle issues and with 162 hp on the wheel and no traction control, it definitely has engine character 😉 Anyway, its a keeper and im considering buying the hornet as a second bike. My wrist control is excellent after 6 years on the big red😁
Great bike but what's the Grey one like? Good value at £6999otr but for a grand more there's the Suzuki GSX800 or KTM 790 Duke. Spoilt for choice in this class.
nice work Dan, U-Turn ---- I dropped mine in a car park, my fault and I was a little gutted but the panniers saved the bike. It's in my vid "Silly Boy" if you care to watch a moment of brain fade! I'm off to Saddlebags's social next week which will be my longest ride on it.
Thanks Dan, Honda have seemingly designed a rather uninspiring but very competent bike at a pretty good price point. I'm sure it would be fine as long as you're not expecting a "rocket ship" Personally I love Honda's 4-cyl bikes, but would try this one if I wanted to trade down my Street Triple to a good all-rounder at 750cc or thereabouts.
It absolutely is a rocketship for the price point, all the tech + better components and 92 horse power, all under the MT07 MSRP. Looks aside, I genuinely don't know what more you could even want.
Thanks Dan. Since you have tried out the GSX 8S, which of the two would you recommend? Also, here in Denmark there is no price difference between the Honda and the Suzuki so that point is not really anything to me
The bike really looks awful, but it was either this or the Yam MT07. You’re my favourite bike reviewer and this video plus your previous one has cemented this is the bike I want. Just went ahead and reserved one 😁
@@DarkOfTheMoon95 I would tell you to try a trident still, on a test drive. I own one, I feel like it develops a bit differently throughout the revs vs the 800. Not to mention the chassis.
Hello! I would like to ask how tall are you? Because I watched a lot of your videos. I would like to know just to know if my feet would touch the ground if I am 180 centimeters tall.
Great review, a snatchy throttle would be a deal breaker for me. I owned a Street Twin in the past and had to buy a throttle spacer kit to improve the throttle action. It improved it slightly but I eliminated it completely by buying a Yamaha.
@@clusterm2 That’s interesting, I’ll stick to my 03 then it’s a lovely lightweight bike with just enough get and go to leave most of the traffic behind. Thanks for the info.
Can defiantly say the looks haven't grown on me. Seems like such a waste that Honda would spend all that R&D money, and then just copy and paste the CB500f's already long in the tooth styling
to keep the price low. They undercut everyone. This will sell really well. But for people like me and you, the looks are too bland. We are not their target customers.
I want to like the bike. But I just feel it already looks out dated and old... and that snatchy throttle puts me off considering it. I'm a new rider looking for my first 'proper' bike. This is meant to aimed at me... but It's just missed the mark.
Nah, I wouldn't. But, without having ridden one yet, new Hornet seems a very good bike, easy to live with. But I have a very emotional attachment to my SV. It does what I want it to do, and very happily.
Thanks Dan, but this bike is not a bike for every day use unless you like mud and/or you have a cleaning fetish. This bike is terrible in the rain, it turn into a mud throwing machine when using it in the UK every day. No mudguards to speak of, rear shock completely exposed.....hardly any protection on that area. It's also a naked bike which is yes very naked indeed🙂 If you live in Spain, Italy or southern France, than this bike could be a bike for every day use.
I mean, most naked bikes are the same these days. My CB650R, SV650 and MT07 were the same. Covered in muck whenever it rains. You can easily fix that with a hugger, fender extender and shock-sock though.
Hmm :D given how they promoted and teased for so long time I expected better design, it looks like 10years old bikes with LCD strapped to it. Big expectations, big disappointment.
Yeah it’s the best mid sized naked twin at the moment. But those looks……….😏…. I would take the new Suzuki gsx8s or the ktm 790 duke (also not the best looker but it’s a beast) or the aprilia tuono 660 over this boring design…
I do as RU-vid doesn't pay enough to its creators. Without help from my sponsors I simply wouldn't be able to make videos. You can simply skip forward too if you don't want to watch them.
@@Englishbikerdan fair enough, but it's not as simple as that. I usually unsubscribe when vloggers start forcing adverts on me. If enough of your subscribers think like me, will your sponsorship make up for the consequent shortfall in RU-vid revenue?
