I also bought a honda city elegant edition this moths. All loadings in the car and specially the of the car is turn in to sporty. Recently we went to Pahalgam from Jammu in our car and the experience was awesome 👌 it's feels like we are in a hotel and especially back seat is just like heaven. My Daughter watching all the phone on back seat and she feels so amazing because of the suspension. If you really want to test these car that go to pahalgam via jammu, you will find all the messey roads which got through our honda city
City is more reliable and city's design is much better. Verna looks like a plastic toy car. City has 5 star safety rating whereas verna's build quality sucks.
Have driven my city for more than 100k kms in less than 4 years, the only complain I have is the ground clearance but apart from that, its a gem of a car, reliable and safe!
Drivability, brakes, suspension and performance with a good seating comfort is what a car must have. City fulfills it along with more features in the base variant. CITY A WISE CHOICE
I owned both. Verna chalane me maza aata hai. Infotainment of Verna is much better. City ki stability achhi hai. Comfort in city is next level.Verna comes with nil cabin noise unlike City
Did a td between these two yesterday.... keeping aside all the parameters like build quality, reliability, resale etc which are debatable, the ride and handling of City beats Verna anyday... it is more responsive, supple, refined even on broken patches (driven carefully)... ac is better in City... rear seat comfort are handsdown best in SEGMENT... cabin feels more airy.... Now these are facts and are irrefutable.... Indeed a big miss for the City which Verna exceeds by a mile are the following: 1. Infotainment/ Headunit (Honda's unit is an embarrasement. But since mostly people will use either Carplay or AA, you can give it a miss. 2. Sound system: City's speakers come no where near to Verna's. People buying city will have to upgrade the speakers for sure. 3. Front ventiallated seats, something city buyers wont be able to instal aftermarket even if they wanted. A BIG miss. 4. Tyre profile of City is unadequate. Verna's 205 profile tyres are way better. One problem that i felt for Verna's cabin is that the dual tone is of black and white, rather than beige as stated by many portals. So upkeep of these areas (seats included) will be major pain in the ass.
Thanks for the comparison.. Honda city has been left back when it comes to comparison with new cars. Does a BMW model ever get old or any class of a Mercedes get old? City is a perfect car and shall remain the same. And honda knows it
City outstanding 👏 verna is just ok, maybe better adas comparatively, but back seat comfort, especially for elderly people, excellent suspension, quick pick up works better on overtaking, sad part is its kinda of outdated screen and it's position, also wireless charging and cupholders what's the logic behind, noise filtering could have been better...I love city it's so comforting to drive much better for long drives...
Just get the 205 section tyres on the Honda City like we did, and boy.. The vehicle would just become FFFAAABBB to say the least.. The ride comfort significantly improves at both, low and high speeds.. you don't feel the suspension softness at all.. Moreover, the grip levels at corners and high speeds are very assuring now ❤
Any Honda car has these advantages over any other mass brand: easy and comfortable drive, quick, responsive and longevity, performance, visibility, and handling. The list will go on.... Why should Honda be avoided: poor insulation, poor features, expensive, tire noise, rattling sound...poor marketing, not many models at dealership and the list goes on...
Honda city gives you the best ride experience for both, the driver and the passenger and the cabin that gives you a touch of luxury which makes it even better.
Verna is packed with features but city has better aesthetics and seating. Verna rear seat is very deep down (same is the case with virtus and maybe slavia too) but in city, the seating height is better. Sure Verna has a turbo variant which can give better power but no one (yes, NO ONE) comes even close to Honda's engine refinement. Be it car or bike, Honda is the king of refinement. While Verna has power, city is a hybrid. So I me find city better than verna.
I don't understand one thing why people are saying "City feels old"?. Definitely it would get old with passing years. When it was launched there were no Slavia, Virtus and verna just got a new generation!!. If anyone say that Ciaz is old it is literally old. It doesn't make sense when City was the first to receive a generational update and will recieve another within 2 years. Although it still looks better than verna or creta
I personally drive a 4th Gen Honda City Automatic since 2015 and it has been a superb experience. My advice for Honda City owners is to make sure you service the car regularly, most important is regular oil change and oil filter change with each oil change, it will keep the engine clean and trouble free. Honda engines are known to last more than 4 lakh Kms with regular maintenance. The Oil I use is the Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40 and the car seems super smooth ever since the oil change. Also I have installed Continental tyres which have made a good difference to the ride and grip.
Forget about everything, just look at the color of the two! You can get your result, for sure!!! Just by making good handwriting nobody can score high marks, that's the case for Verna!! CITY in every Cities for a reason!❤ Thank you Autocar for giving the detailed review!
Cant really get used to the blind look ( absent headlights almost) of the new verna! Super polarizing design indeed… no offence to those who absolutely love it! I ‘d prefer the previous gen verna rather!
For city driving I would recommend the Verna. So many important features and better looking screens and touch points, also Hyundai service centers are more affordable and widely available
I drive a 7 year old Honda City all the weaknesses are forgotten when I drive it. Prior to which was driving a Hyundai Elantra 2005 model which was fine but rolled like a boat on choppy seas 😁 Honda City CVT it is...look no further if you drive, if you're driven may be the creature comforts of the Verna will win you over...
Honda ❤ always a great choice .. Hyundai is OK but the worst think about Hyundai is that they give tons of airbags but still all their cars will not go more than 3 star safty rating ..
Verna build quality is progressively deteriorating in all their successive model , I had a Verna VGT which I used for 15 years and 190000kms with no issues except steering box replacement and one time clutch overhaul. Now I use 2018 Verna petrol ..never happy about it ..suspension is bad, even engine is far inferior than VGT ..As for City what I heard is it is susceptible to corrosion in coastal areas due to salinity..
The Korean carmakers now just make that massive screen from the speedo console to the center console which practically blinds the person driving it. I hope that screen is split in the future releases of the car.
Honda City CVT V version or Edition .I owned Honda Amaze S version manual and Grand i10 sportz model from 2013 and 2017 and Driven Honda Jazz CVT 1.5 for three years in Dubai. My choice is Honda any given day and with CVT and traffic drive of most of indian cities it is always honda for comfort reliabilty and efficency and safety too because of strong build qualty. Driving pleasure of Honda and family or co paasengers comfort and safety is beyond any comparison any brands of same segment.Middle class ki mercedes for not for two three years it is for forever type car which never gets old .Music system and tyres two things honda should focus on facelift of city in 2024 or 2025.I heard that in Amaze face lift coming this year end they are giving 10.25 inch fully loaded infotainment system and ADAS and six airbags also in topend models.,🙏
Verna has better engine, relatively more reliable double clutch transmission, 5 star Global NCAP rating, heated and ventilated seated, higher quality plastic/soft touch materials, variable ambient lights, better sound system, better boot space, disc breaks for all wheels, ADAS level 2 and priced even less than virus + Slavia. If you can ignore or change the front bumper it straight away looks like a 2024 Hyundai Sonata. Also finally hyundai has much better service after sales compared to horror experiences and costing of VW & Skoda. Any logical person would rate Verna at the top or maybe realise the extra cost VW/SKODA is charging. No doubt Virtus/Slavia DSG are more fun to drive, but I think it's a give or take for everything in life 😂
New verna has cheap steering wheel, looks disgusting from the front, its pretty good looking from the rear though...city has a badass engine but has an outdated dashboard look, needs upgrade.
Though my choice would be neither of the cars. Hands down, it feels like the Verna is a better option despite it not having the best CvT. It’s a new plush cabin, the ride isn’t too soft like that of the city. The city might edge on base variant features, but then honestly, we are tired of the same car just being refreshed year after year. The cabin feels outdated. It needs a new life. Not just refreshes.
I mean if you want a CVT then hands down go with the Honda City because in all these years no one has beat the CVT system of Honda. I have rode both of these car Honda City is better. It has all the features you need and performance is much much better.
