The beginning of a journey up the Australian coastline hopping from island to island sailing on 2 Hobie adventure kayaks and 1tandam island sailing kayak. Camping on remote islands we have to take all of our camping gear, fishing and diving gear as well as food and water.
Days 1 to 3 we encounter some rough weather and damage some of our kayaks but carry on yet separated on the first set of islands. St bees island is a beautiful campsite which is located 31km from Mackay and becomes a resting point as we prepare for the next crossing

Love your videos mate, I'm watching it for the second time now. It is amazing how fast those beasts goes. I also carry a lot of stuff on my camping trips... My yak does't have that huge load capacity ( Siren XL by Dream Kayaks) nor that stability, What worked out for me were those blue barrels that stores imports grains and supplements, you can find them cheap and they really keeps everything dry. My playground here is the west coast of the south island in NZ... it can be very rough so I frequent go for a swim, can't afford have my sleeping system wet in the winter. I use those three barrels that are lined up next to my hammock when camping , like a bench or a bed side table, food, electronics, tools ( don't forget the pee bottle) everything there to maximise recovery/laziness. Got this idea from Shug ( YT hammock guy) when i saw him making his breakfast without getting up from the hammock🤔🤯. I do recommend it😁

Agree the nose shot provides a good perspective. Can you provide a few details on the mount? How secured and protected from the waves? May try a similar set up on my TI @@markjvairy

I used to work for a company that made front spray skirts for TI’s and AI’s. It looks like they would have been great for this trip.

Dude, you'd be welcome to check it out here in the US anytime, though Australia's coasts and islands look as gorgeous as anything this side of the pond, this world has unreal beauty I'll try to take some of lake Mac (largest lake in Nebraska) this summer at some point. All I have is a cell phone for shooting at the moment

Awesome, I can't wait to see the rest of the trip! I don't think I've seen the black profile frames on the akas before, did you fabricate those to hold the solar panel and other gear? Any chance you can post pictures / specs / weight?
@markjvairy
@markjvairy 6 месяцев назад
Yes custom made from box aluminium so pretty light but super strong , still want to make some modifications to the them , happy to send through the pics of the original frames before I painted them , would need to measure for for you when I get back from holidays as heading to visit family tomorrow. Inbox me on insta or Facebook if you like and can give you the details Thanks for watching 🤗

Love your work Mark . You have a fantastic channel. It’s a shame it was such a rough start for the others . Man those boats look close to there load limits. What sort of weight are you at ?
@markjvairy
@markjvairy 6 месяцев назад
It was pretty crappy conditions which is always the worst for a first day of trip like this as that’s when your the most loaded up , as the trip glows on we get much lighter. I was very close to the recommended limit on my AI , hard when you packing for almost two weeks at sea that’s for sure but learning all the time , thanks for watching 🤗

@@markjvairy That’s why I traded up to a Windrider 17 . Carries a truck load & far less fragile. Downside is heavy to beach launch alone but I’ll figure out a system.

there's a lot of your face appearing all the time in the video instead of filming track, nature and the landscape if you want to admire yourself buy a mirror or change the title of the video to filming myself and a little bit of other things
