when its cold outside... if you want the performance just turn on the winter mode... its gonna heat up the battery up to ideal temperature.. that means more performance.. if you want the range just turn it off... your car won't get up to speeds faster but this thing works.. i have mine turned off
Battery conditioning has been included in mid-production 2022 and all 2023 MY EV6 vehicles since about July 2022. It is still not offered as a software update.
@@HighOnCars1 , it's well documented on the Kia EV6 Owners Canada page you are a member of and all the other EV6 forums. My dealer confirmed it as well about two weeks ago when I scheduled my 26K service.
I received the update for preheating early November for free (in Europe) and I am very happy with this feature as I occasionally make long drives where this makes it a real gamechanger for fast charging the EV6. Don't understand why it isn't rolled out globally. On our forums I haven't read any issue related to the update. Also UK still seems to be excluded from this update. In the winter I still have the same smile on my face as in the summer when arriving later and departing earlier then my fellow fast chargers with their Audi's, VW's, Volvo's etc.
@@HighOnCars1 Fully agree, but not every dealer is dealing that way. Mine was very easy about this, but some others ask around €60. Their argument it takes an hour to update, but it is 2 minutes starting the update, one hour waiting and 1 minute driving the car out of the garage. It can only be updated by them, not OTA.
In Canada dealers are charging $100 for software updates. I do the updates myself as you might have seen in the videos. Dealers aren't even performing software updates on the cars they are delivering. I did a software update for a subscriber who got his car a month ago with the April 2022 update on it 🤦🏽♂️
Good video I have always thought that pre conditioning in winter would also be beneficial because it improves battery regeneration for braking in cold temps. This is the car with Tesla’s. Without pre conditioning, The regen braking may be unavailable (or less effective) at the start of a drive in cold temps Should it not also improve the ability of the battery to more efficiently deliver power to the motor(s)
I never seemed to get this feature when I updated my 2023 Kia Soul EV in Canada. Even though Kia’s site said my car was compatible, it still just says Winter Mode. And Kia doesn’t know what’s going on. I am in Ontario as well. 🇨🇦
The battery pre-conditioning software update is done by the dealer. The one we download and do it ourselves is only for the infotainment system and maps.
Thanks for the video. FYI I received my 2022 GT Line 1 on November 7th and it has the Battery Conditioning Mode. I used once and it started heating the battery 53 minutes before arriving at the charger in around zero C temperatures.
@@HighOnCars1 That doesn’t say anything about changes. My point to you is that you claimed that it’s now compulsory and only an option before….well it’s not. Preconditioning with navigation was and is a choice in the menus. You even showed this optional tick box clearly in the video but said you wouldn’t update because you cannot turn it off…
You clearly misunderstood. The Winter Mode or Battery Conditioning Mode can be turned off which I have because I don't use it. No where did I say that it's compulsory. What I said was that the Battery Conditioning Mode ONLY work IF you are navigating towards a DCFC using the car's navigation system which is how it can calculate how far it is and how long it has to optimize the battery temperature. I hope that clarifies the confusion.
Correct. I never said there was a change after the update. The only thing I said was that based on the article on the Hyundai Motor Group website, it sounds like they are using a different technique to heat up the battery. That's all.
The 2023's have battery conditioning as standard.(I see from the comments- later 2022's have it) You had me excited for a minute for my 2022 GT-Line 2 . They say this update is coming (but not here in Canada yet) It has been available in the US for Ioniq5 . See The Ioniq Guy videos. here's one ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-q1N92fjK3lU.html
