SYMPOSIUM FOCUS
Technology is transforming the diamond industry in its entirety, be it in exploration, evaluation of source-rocks, mining, comminution, processing and recoveries, cutting and polishing of rough diamonds, and tracking of diamonds from source to sales-point utilizing Blockchain. A focus of the Symposium was to present and cover the impacts of these new technologies.
New technologies and geological interpretations have changed the approach to Junior diamond mining operations in the Northern Cape and North West Provinces, technology advances are ensuring greater recoveries of large and exceptional diamonds in mines across southern Africa and other parts of the world, drone technology is enhancing delineation and exploitation of ultra-low-grade alluvial deposits, and back-to-basics fieldwork and geological modelling has restated the origin and diamond resources of alluvial deposits in North West and Northern Cape Provinces of RSA.
