Love your content man!!! I own an Fz 55 which is basically a replica of this camera, except probably the design. I was conflicted while comparing the outputs of both however your review helped clear the fog. I'm subscribed!!! ❤❤❤
@@pricklypearcamera Indeed, have also ordered my first Mirrorless Camera Sony NEX 3!!! Hoping to take it up a notch!!! Thanks again for your insights! 🥰❤️
@@tonytony8464 If you compare point and shoots with mirrorless, obvious choice will be mirrorless owing to plethora of lenses and a larger sensor size of mirrorless camera.
I'd say it's in the same league as my Nikon A100 digicam, but I didn't think this model of FZ series has a "manual" mode in its photography modes. My Nikon has different modes, too, but doesen't have a manual mode for taking pictures and can only shoot videos in HD (720p). I'm thinking about purchasing a bridge camera, too, and I started to observe the stores here. Guess what I found everywhere? Yes, Kodak bridge cameras. :D Like the bridge cameras from other brands disappeared suddenly. So maybe I will go for a brand new Kodak bridge :D
My FZ45 does 1080P video! Could the UK ones be different? It's a great little camera and so simple to use! I have a DSLR too but I wanted something compact with full HD video and this does the job! Thanks for a great review!
Is there a limit for the recording time of videos and does the camera also have filters for taking photos? Also can you zoom while you’re recording a video or has the zoom be set beforehand? ^^
It be great to see a outdoor video recording made by this very Kodak Pixpro FZ45 camera to compare the video quality and sound levels. Looking for very good audio bitrate which can be disappointing if it far too low.
hi!! im wondering how you view the options on movie mode? i can see that its set to normal but cant figure out how to change that 😭 - also, this review was really informative, thank you!!!
If you press the mode button, select movie mode, and then price the little "paragraph button" that has the paper looking icon with lines on it, and then you will enter the movie menu, hit down and then you can scroll through quite a few different movie mode options.
I have a Kodak PIXPRO FZ53, but I only have one issue. Everything is working perfectly, including taking videos and it has never fallen from me before. However, whenever I should take a pic, it turns out blurry with a blue background. Not sure why
@@kennoybrown3946 yeah it happened today and after it went back to normal i put the old SD back in and it seemed normal.. but just to be safe I’m using the new Sd card still. I think the camera needed a reset somehow
I tried to check and set the time and date on this camera, but the instructions wouldn't tell me how to do it (actually they did, but it was a lie). I also have no way of knowing whether my photos are ending up on the SD card, or the camera's existing hard drive. UPDATE; I had to remove my SD card to find out about the latter issue, and the pics did end up there.
I think they're both good, Sony is 20mp w 720p video vs kodak 16mp also 720p video. The sony was released almost 9 years ago, I didn't find autofocus on it quite as good as the Kodak, but bother perform well. For me it would kind of depend as well as to what prices you could get the W800 for.
They are nearly identical from a specs perspective. 1x better optical range on the FZ55, barely noticeable, and a bit better max ISO on the FZ55. I have shot with both and couldn't tell the different in actual image output.
Thank you for the review. However, you forgot to mention the sound which is not as good as I imagined. I can barely hear what I recorded, even when I see it in my pc, the sound is too low. I just bought it for a field trip my son has where he is not allowed to bring any phon with him, and it is very disapointing since it was my last option of a good affordable camera. The image and the quality of the video are not bad but for me the sound is very important. Do you know of any other camera good for this price? Thanks again.
Well. At the end I kept the camera. After trying others with similar prices. Returned three different cameras. This is the one with the "best" sound and zoom. So, yes.. 😉
Thank you very much for your review! This camera is good for taking pictures of cars, do you know? Is it possible to transfer photos to an Android smartphone? Thank you in advance! You, your loved ones, friends will succeed in life! I wish you, your loved ones, friends health, love, happiness, success, good luck!
Bummer to hear that- I don't have an FZ55 to test to replicate, but you could try doing: a.) camera reset b.) switch out AA batteries to new ones. Did you get it used or new?
@@pricklypearcamera - It is brand new. I tried everything and updated the firmware but with no luck. Kodak asked me to return it and they will send me a replacement soon. Hopefully I receive a working one :)
The FZ45 adds 4MP resolution to 16mp from the AV100 12mp sensor. Also has 1080p video vs 720p. In terms of actual standard still picture quality, I don't know if you would see a "huge" jump in upgrading.
No rechargeable batteries is a bummer. I'd prefer 4mp instead of 16 since the low light performance makes it unusable indoors as I've used 12-16mp point and shoots. And if you buy this you likely want less resolution anyway. 4x6 photos can only display about 2.2mp worth of dots per inch on the print anyway. More pixels isn't better but worse.
The Kodak FZ55 has a battery tray very similar to the FZ45-you should be able to just push it open. And the SD slight is right behind where you put the rechargeable battery: kodakpixpro.com/cameras/friendly-zoom/fz55/
You may or may not notice but Kodak don't make cameras they just outsource their name the same as agfa does under license and the same company that makes the agfa cameras make the Kodak cameras but they are both good quality products over the cheaper Chinese no brand products that you can get as an affordable alternative these days the cheapest half decent digital cameras start from about £100 which is the same price as a budget mobile but the main difference being the budget camera will most probably have a times 4 optical zoom if it has a micro zoom lens but your average phone will only have a times 4 digital zoom
I'm using GoPro and it's very difficult to film videos at night, but is the FZ45 product able to film videos at night? And is there a handshake prevention function? thank you
The FZ45 has a very small sensor and does not have image stabilization, so would have similar difficulties filming videos at night. The Sony HDR-CX405 camcorder is better, but price is a bit higher.
@gladys6643 As far as I'm aware, there are 2 main differences, the FZ45 uses AA and the FZ55 uses rechargeable Li-ion battery, and the FZ55 has a 5x zoom vs the FZ45 4x zoom BUT the FZ45 has a macro mode (closer up pics), that the FZ55 doesn't have. In all other aspects, they are very similar, so I'd say it's a toss up, but if you need a camera that does macro pictures maybe the FZ45 is a better fit?
Thank you so much for answering i wanted to gift one of those two cameras to my 10 year old to bring along on a field trip. No cell phones are allowed i figured a camera would help capture those memories to remember the field trip.
@@pricklypearcamera but which battery will you suggest for a normal or once in a week usage. Will it be the duracell normal disposable batteries or the rechargeable ones.
Yes, you can, it's called "date imprint", more info can be found on page 45 of the user manual here: kodakpixpro.com/resources/cameras/friendly-zoom/fz45/docs/fz45-usermanual-en-v02.pdf
It's painful to see what has happened to the company. I still have cams here that they built self (DSC620 and some DCS ). And now? Cheap OEM goods from China :-( After all, it costs a little money: around 100usd. I'm just afraid that an Android phone that costs 120usd will have the same quality.
Save your money, and buy a Cannon ELPH. The Kodak is terrible. Almost useless flash, poor resolution, and video that looks like it's been filmed through gauze.
That is expensive man … given that I shoot with mirrorless system getting the canon elph makes no sense for 4x price … Ps I love canon and I am a Canon mirrorless professional shooter … i feel investing 4x for the canon quality makes zero sense.
Bought this a few months ago IN SPITE OF POOR REVIEWS. Bad decision. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE WHAT YOU ARE ATTEMPTING TO RECORD IN EVEN MINIMUM OUTDOOR LIGHT. HORRIBLE PURCHASE. AND, USER INSTRUCTIONS sent with the camera ARE USELESS. YOU HAVE TO DOWNLOAD THE ENTIRE MANUAL TO MAKE IT USEFUL.
HI THERE I JUST BROUGHT A FZ45 AND IT USES UP THE BATTERYS VERY VERY FAST AND I DO NTO EVEN USE IT TAHT MUCH AT ALL NOT MAJOR YOU TUBER BUT VERY LITTLE PICS... TO ME IT SUCKS FOR THE POWER IS GONE SO FAST... COMPANY IS WILLING TO REPLACE IT FOR A BETTER ONE I HAVE GOT A EMAIL FROM THEM.
