That statistic of the team losing if Jojo is losing makes sense for MVP.

While they did stumble a bit as the season ran on, Jojo made EG look like the scariest team in NA for the first round robin of summer split. It is debatable but he is a great candidate for MVP nonetheless. Congrats Jojo!

Back in my day their wasn’t some narrative or story tied to a player winning mvp. They just gave it to Bjergsen cause he was the very best.

At least with this he gets to touch the stage in Jersey to accept it.

Didn't you guys just say in spring part of the reason Berserker won it was because he was apart of the best team? Blaber is literally the MVP of this split and it's not even close. As skilled as JoJo is he lets his emotions get the best of him and runs it 50% of the time. I wouldn't say he's the most valuable, more like the most skilled.

I guess, the last few weeks plus playoffs don't help his case. LCS really holding onto those first few weeks for him

tbf he did single handedly carry eg to top 4 in the regular season and they are garbage his stats were insane altough i do think they should reveal the award as soon as the regular season starts it's pointless doing it once playoffs is about to end because you can have bad games etc

Most Valuable Player (on his team), sure. But not convinced he was the Most Valuable Player of all players in the league. Doesn't need to be from 1st place team, or even 2nd, but EG barely made it to the second round and then lost pretty soundly. Just because a team has a LOT of strong players, doesn't mean ONE of them isn't the most valuable player of all. Happy for him and he is AMAZING, I'm just not convinced. Perhaps, as @narutofan251 said, it would be best to award this before playoffs.

the argument against Berserker as MVP would be that League isn't just about playing your role, and while I would say Berserker is the best ADC in the league particularly at finding solo plays, his competition for the title of MVP all are what we would consider "shotcallers" (as much as you can be in modern league). to me that makes Blaber's case for MVP a lot stronger because not only is he the best jungler in the league he is also their main go button that looks for plays and very much gives C9 their teamfighting identity. Jojo plays the same role in EG (C9 jokingly call him "The General" for that reason according to Fudge's latest Dive appearance). personally though I would edge Jojo over Blaber this split because IMO Jojo had way stronger competition in the mid lane (Emenes and Gori and also the rise of the NA mid laners) whereas Blaber's competition was mainly just River, maybe Pyosik (who was hit or miss in the regular season but looks a lot better in playoffs I will admit), and strangely Contractz (but NRG as a whole is hard to get a read on whether or not they're actually good). Closer's decline is especially noteworthy considering he was at least making a bid for Blaber's spot for best jungler in the league last year. Inspired not being in the league this split makes Blaber's job easier as well. And Santorin, who is usually a top 3 jungler at the least, also looked uncharacteristically bad this entire year. LCS jungle role was way weaker this split while I feel like LCS mid role leveled up. Jojo playing against better players and still being the main shotcaller for his team is more impressive to me than Blaber, especially if you add to the mix the fact that EG as an organization has been having drama the entire year. figuratively it's like Blaber is performing while coming from a good, rich family while Jojo is a child of a messy divorce but still putting in the work. reminder that EG literally removed Inspired, Vulcan, and Ssumday from their roster this year. imagine being a player and watching that happen, not tilting is a miracle.

Deserved. Other top teams had multiple carry players, but EG would never have been this rank without jojopyun.

So many butthurt about this, especially C9 fans. I have never seen an entire league completely alter their gameplan to counter one player. JoJo was literally everywhere on his team covering for everyone and still winning lane. Even most of the games where he was attacked by 3-4 players for the first 10 minutes, he still did not fall behind and kept the team in games. The best comparison would be Summit's MVP run but even that is a false equivalency. The only thing teams did to counter Summit was send the jungler top more often than normal. And he handled it poorly, running it down regularly. JoJo was getting it from jungler, support, and even top sometimes. And he still didn't have outrageously bad games, generally. Dude was the focal point of every game he was in. Even against C9. Blaber, Berserker, C9 may be getting better results. They are good players and a good team. There is nothing about either of those players that make them the most valuable. As is evidence by the fact people can't even decide which they'd pick.... JoJo 100% deserved this award. Maybe even more than anyone in recent memory.

Blabber and river had a very close season, meanwhile jojo was clearly the best mid in the regular season. To look like the clear best in mid lane is really hard with a weak team. IMO playoffs just exposed his teammates, it’s not like jojo didn’t play well.

Definitely earned. Jojo' team went as far as he did. He was the most valuable player in the LCS. C9 could still be successful without blaber. But EG never gets into playoffs without JoJo

jojo is good, i agree. it always feels bad though when a player is picked for mvp and that value doesnt translate beyond regular season. i know it's a regular season award, but watching jojo fail to put up performances worthy of the mvp in all their playoff series felt pretty bad, especially when we all knew he was gonna be mvp. yes, he was the best player on his team, but honestly that doesnt mean near as much as saying you're the best player on c9, tl, or gg. i think the poor performances of his teammates made him seem way better than he actually was this year

for everyone saying berserker should be mvp. his whole team was playing well. you can even argue blaber could too. but jojo was outright carrying games for his team. but currently playoffs berserker is definitely playing a lot better than the regular season

This is such a wack MVP award. Jojo only looked good because the rest of his team was useless, so he looked amazing by comparison. I don't know how anyone can feel good about him getting this award when he was absolutely invisible in the post season. What person wins MVP then gets knocked out instantaneously in the playoffs. Weird timeline.

Blaber isn't robbed. MVP is most valuable player, Jojo is the most valuable because EG is literally nothing without him. Nothing, you have Unforgiven and Revenge decent sometimes but the win con is literally just Jojo. Every team knew that and every single team had to 3 or 4 man mid to make sure he was shut down, because there is no way EG wins without him doing well. EG without Jojo don't make playoffs, which I feel is apparent with how significant their fall off was when teams started hard focusing him. Meanwhile, C9 without Blaber are probably still a top 3 team. This team has so many wins because pretty much every player on the roster can hands diff their opponents in teamfights. Berserker is the individual best player in the league and arguably the most talented player that's ever played in LCS. Blaber has a worse case for MVP because he and his teammates are all too good lol. Hopefully that argument becomes even tougher with C9 Jojo next year Prayge

I think I would have given it to Berserker tbh, but I can see why people put Jojo up there. Berserker is pretty clearly the best player in his role, and easily a contender for best player in the league. Jojo was definitely critical to any success that EG had, but I think you could have absolutely put Gori right up there with him in terms of skill level and play during the regular season, and if Emenes was a bit more consistent and a little less inty he would be there too. To be fair, EG probably would have had a better chance if they had any stability whatsoever in the jungle or support positions, but those were pretty clear weak points this split. Revenge also had a pretty good showing this season, but he got slapped pretty hard by Summit in their series against TL. Unfortunate for them to run into C9 and TL in the playoffs, but seeing them get decimated at worlds would have been tough to watch for sure, so it's kind of whatever in the end.

I don't know if the MVP should go to a player who was *literally* carrying his team on his back. Revenge might have had a few good games, but EG got out drafted and slammed in the Lower Bracket. JoJo might have the highest delta in terms of Skill, KP, First Blood, CS, whatever you wanna measure amongst his OWN team, but he can't drag them across the finish line. What does it matter if he's the Most Valuable if his team can't get it together? He readily admits that the team was rebuilt around him. Everyone on his team wants to prove that it's not just the JoJo Show. But he keeps getting slammed and made irrelevant. This award should've gone to Licorice, Stixxay, Tactical, Ignar, Summit, or Palafox. He looks good in a clip, but he can't actually win, and even worse, the organization bet their whole split on him.
