With this new 5th generation, the Lexus RX350 receives a new exterior, new interior cabin, more features, new powertrain options, and better fuel economy. However the new 2023 Lexus RX 350 isn't perfect. Learn about the new RX and hear about the drive.

Nice and honest review. I like that you mention what you don't like in the vehicle. Very different reviews from others that only mention good things. My wife and I just test drive the new RX. This car is just stunning. Smooth ride and super quiet cabin. We love the new handle features, but you're right, when you tried for the 1st time it can be confusing. Then it's just really nice to open the door or getting out from it. We just fell in love with the RX! Waiting for ours to come to the dealer!

I own the 2022 RX-350. Have owned other Lexus in the past but have to say I am not crazy about what I bought in '22 and wanted to see what the '23 was like. The items you hit on are the things that I care about so kudos on a good job. I'll be looking at other SUVs as the Infotainment system, touchpad (too far to touch safely) road noise with the 20" tires drive me crazy. Should have waited for Car Shows to return to check out these things.

This is really well done and valid points. For the 'Ugly', those door handles are a completely unnecessary and actually 'dangerous' design. Eg. If this car gets into an accident and loses power, someone from the outside can NOT intuitively open the car door. If they smash the glass, the normal person wouldn't know how to open the door either. Who would guess you would have to PULL the little handle and if so, how would you know to pull TWICE. The other dealbreaker is the HUD. Those controls on the steering wheel are absolutely infuriating. Less is more Lexus...keep it simple

Excellent unbiased review! Totally agree with your “bads”, especially the capacitive touch steering wheel buttons that require you to use the heads-up display, and the silly electronic door handles; why try to fix a problem that didn’t exist! A couple more misses: lack of interior storage space (no center console pass through or under console storage, very little under cargo floor storage), and the rear seats don’t adjust fore and aft (they don’t slide forward or back)! I think the best value is the 350h Premium. No heads-up display with the confusing steering wheel buttons, the smaller infotainment screen with more buttons, and no extra charge for the hybrid power train that is as quick as the ICE turbo with much better fuel economy.
@naveenthemachine

Lexus have been using turbo 4s in their RXs for years. It’s just the first time they brought one to North America.

Excellent no BS review, I think I will just buy a Toyota. Cars are just way TOO expensive

The new nose looks too much like Toyota. At least the old grille differentiated both brands more.

Got the new mdx AsPEc and loooks like full load than this one and has more quality interior and sporty. Seat on MDX is much better and fulll monroof with no BS upgrades but standard. Axura and Honda has more space also and Still offer V6. Goodluck wih all this small engine turbos.

The V6 isnt as bullet proof as people think. It has its flaws like common oil leaks that require the entire engine to be pulled to fix for a small problem. Like any engine in Toyota's lineup there are kinks and quirks that will cost a lot of money to fix. I also have the rx450H and the V6 feels gutless in my opinion

Agree with this. My Toyota was in the Toyota shop on THREE separate occasions because they couldn't properly replace the o-rings.. transmission oil all over. Incredibly frustrating. Not everyone, but unfortunate mine was among the mix..

I agree with the things that aren’t “good” about the RX. Why fix something that isn’t broken? An electronic handle to open the car? Why? That’s so tedious. The shifter being redone, not sure why they thought it was a good idea. Shifting left and down/up to get into different modes is just adding an extra step that wasn’t necessary. I do wish there were more buttons on the dash for climate control. Having it installed into the infotainment system seems dangerous since you’d have to reach over, press and constantly take your eyes away. It’s counterintuitive with the drive safety feature. I really do like the RX, might buy one when I have the funds saved up for one. No car is perfect.

Lexus lost its path, imo. 4cyl are ok for IS and NX , BUT in the Flagships like RX there should be at least one V6 and V6Hybrid option like Fords V6 Turbo PHEV with 450hp in the Explorer. Thank god Mazda came out with a new inline 6 Diesel with 3,3ltr and 250hp.

No V6 No Sale. High stress 4 cylinder engine = non reliability! No touch pad and only touch screen without a rotary control is DANGEROUS! 2 miles mpg more by removing the V6 is stupid and insignificant! NO SALE! - go BMW X5…
