I have this C43. Stepped down to it from a 63 because lease was up and can't get the new 63 in the US nor do i want it with all of the unusable tech that can fail. I actuality enjoy the 43. Its fast enough for fun on regular roads and the handling is next level. Don't believe the bad rep most commenters are perpetuating . Spend some real time in one and you will understand.
@@Seemashe it is a very nice all around car. Another 30hp would put it over the top. I suspect AMG will hear that kind of feedback and maybe we will see an increase in 2 to 3 model years, hopefully in time for my next lease!
@@mattc1580 About the performance seats of say the CLA 45 S … I did not like them … they are too stiff and hard and actually quiet narrow .. much better for every day car to have standard leather bigger more comfy seats ..
@@Seemashe actually, I'm the opposite. Didn't do the performance seats in my last AMG but did in this one because I checked every single option box to make me feel better about dropping to a 43 from a 63 and it turns out I really like the seats! It's just a preference thing I guess.
@@Seemashe BMW also has the better smoother transmission, better reliability and the 6 will hold up long term vs a 4...Not to mention it's slower...If i was to buy a c class i would just buy the c300 and tune it and get the exact same car lol The M340i is just a superior car and way more fun to drive...It's okay to be worse
I recently purchased a 2023 C43 over a M340i. Performance wasn’t my #1 thing. I do like performance but I also like having a really nice interior and a comfy ride for daily. Had I prioritized speed, I would hands down go with the M340i. When I test drove the M340i and the M3 it just reminded me of the upcoming 2024 Hyundai Sonatas (the infotainment) Which I guess makes sense since the designers at BMW went to Hyundai. I think the C43 is a great car for daily driving with some performance. I see a lot of hate to this car without much people test driving it. I’ve seen a lot of people around me be skeptical of it until they drove in one. Ultimately, I think the C43 is more a daily driver first then performance second.
Most reports have it the other way around, especially with the lovely torque converter gearbox in the BMW being smoother than the DCT in the C43. Also the C43 has the harsher suspension tune.
You raise a valid point, but people is shaming the ‘23 C43 mainly because of it being a $70k+ car with 4 cylinders only. People are expecting more cylinders when paying premium. Not to mention, this is MB first 4 cyl+eturbo engine. Reliability is on the question. M340i B58 engine has been mentioned in lots of articles that claimed it to be the most reliable engine of all time.
It's not a bad car. But the expectations from AMG is that it should be smoking an m340i. Especially today, with the amount of engine technology that has improved. They should have went with a straight six or v6, they would have been getting the same amount of horsepower and NOBODY would have complained, even if it was slightly slow than a 340i.
I have the C43 also. I agree 100% with your comment. People should spend some time in one to really appreciate it. Its not going to win many youtube racer highway races but its a great all around car.
FANTASTIC review, Bro. I’ve really taken a liking to this channel; subscribed. Only tidbit: this isn’t necessarily a “Mercedes-Benz” product but more so a Mercedes-AMG product. 🤙
Let’s address the elephant in the room…this hybrid tech works in the c43 but has NO place in the c63,the only reason people buy the c63 is for the big lumpy v8 ,Mercedes are losing the script.
great video !! love to watching your videos. I have a question, I lived in California, I bought my amg c43 on 2023 7-5 and now 2024 4-1 my car has 8726 miles on it, just wanna ask am I driving too much or its just normal milage ?
Shouldve kept the V6 except just handcrafted it and made it push 400hp flat. Why would someone want to buy the c43 when you can get the CLA45 with the same engine top trim of its class and is faster for the same price. The only reason the c43 was cool was because of its exhaust note. And they took that away now C43 is just an awkward car
Honestly don't mind the 4 cylinders and the bit slower acceleration. Its 10-15K price difference above the M340i here in Canada is what kills it for me. Heard from my BMW sales that their M performance models are selling better than expected just because of Benz's crazy price increase.
And if the only rear seat back release is in the trunk it's impossible for a thief to drop the seats if they break any of the glass in the car. And Ian might need to do some blurring to protect Mike's license (we saw 115km/h on a non=highway in this video).
M340i any day of the week. It's faster, has a better engine, sounds nicer, looks nicer, drives better, is comfier, quieter inside, better suspension, better interior... the list goes on. Oh and its a LOT cheaper
Eve though this is a c43, I feel it should be called the c63 since they both have the same 2l 4cylinder engine. The only difference is the c43 has a mercedes f1 electric turbo and the c63 has a plug in hybrid motor. I feel that because the c63 is now a plug in hybrid (and that's the only option) most people, including me, will opt for this car instead
Wife wanting a nice and easy daily but fun when it needs to be, as she loves to drive my g87. Big fan of this for just easy to live with but im gonna say and she did too. This has the same attitude as an Elantra N, but for twice the price. Its got more power and more luxurious. But not even close to twice of each. Idk, the N sounds like a better deal for a similar recipe.
Who tracks a Benz sedan??? I would rather have CLA 35/45 for this type of MB F1-inspired driving experience, M340i if I need the space of the slightly larger car.
You think them adding all this digital, futuristic tech for the older crowd? None of the features have buttons except along the doors. Older folks like buttons and bigger engines. This seems more geared for younger folks who have never been in an AMG before. Honestly, now that it has 4 cylinders more like a young womans car
The former v6 has more torque than this new version-----15lb/ft. The v-6 is capable of 0-60 in 4.2 seconds flat or even less. Oh, by the way, the v6 sounds better than this 4 banger. That v6 sound is glorious and addictive.
@@ACCELER8TV yikes … that could have been the only saving grace. Besides the fact the car sounds and performs better than most people give it credit for. If it took regular, that would have been an incredible reason to go 4 cylinder.
I test drove both bmw 340i and c43 and c43 feel way nicer inside way better sounds performance they felt very simmiler the Benz is actually quicker to the quarter mile to sooo they are very close but the Benz is way more refined interior at night the big touch screen it’s just way more nicer car and sounds amazing c43 all day !
It’s slower than the BM since other YT have had it as low as 4.1 and it’s about 10k cheaper in the UK. I’ve got the M340i and it’s just too good for the money.
Most reports have the new C43 being harsher with gearbox refinement issues. The M340 for the win. The C43 is also no quicker than the last version and uses no less fuel. Inline 6 > inline 4. Here in Australia, the C43 is much more expensive than the M340i XDrive as well, the BMW is the wise choice.
The previous version had a v6. They really should have gone with the m256. You would have thought the m256 would be a no brainer in the c63 but.. yeah.
I like the Mercedes C43, but I will go with the M340i ! yes I am being bias because I am a owner of a 23 X3M40i lol. But BMW has been killing it. Kanye shrugs 🤷🏿♂️
MT got 3.8 for the M340…no doubt it is a sub 4 second car. Like the sound of this C43, but I’d want the B58 straight 6 over a 4 banger. MB has a lot of nerve charging more for less.
It's barely more. Also, mb offers much more. This amg has a handbuilt engine, rear wheel steering, better handling, much better interior, for only a couple grand more base then the m340i.
@@keithh3099 I have the tow hook mount from platypus and it triggers the sensor too. I think I finally got it in a spot that doesn’t set it off but looks goofy
@questionyourself718 not true at all, never heard anyone say that, all of the yt vids I've watched of this car no one mentioned that the quality was not good, cause it is good
I really wish i could do current Merc as a personal vehicle, but the styling hasn't been there for me since the chiseled W204 on the C. The current aesthetic is too boujie and a bit feminine , that i cant see myself in it. M340i would be my choice here, but i'm still honeymooning my Stage 1 Audi A6 55TFSI and the extra space as a business daily.
This looks like a bit of a miss to me. It's basically an budget AMG, which would be suitable for a young family or something like that... To have no power sources in the back seems like a FU from Merc to their average customers. Styling is boring for an AMG; I'm really not down for all the cockpit controls to be on screen - but it probably is cheaper to implement lol. Exhaust is classic AMG deliciousness though. Another great review Mike. And Ian, I mean my god he can make any car (and even Mike) look great
Yeah they missed with this one. Im in the market for a c43 w205. The AMG exhaust note was the only thing this car was really known for and they took that away
False. First of all, that was a rumor article, which has also been disproven, plus Mercedes never said anything. Your comment should be deleted for how wrong it is
@@gaara4667 That original article was from Car and Driver, as a rumor, zero statements from Mercedes, and the article has already been disproven. That reporter too has a questionable history.
Deciding between this and the S4 for my next lease. I already had to rule out the M340i due to their crappy residual values 😢 . The S4 can be had for like $200/month cheaper in a fully loaded Premium Plus (not Prestige tho so kk ambient lighting) but am afraid about how outdated the Audi interior would feel vs. this and the BMW. Or, will I be lucky that I get one of the last cars that still has physical controls for HVAC? 😅.
M340i has crappy residual value? Used ones I see are pretty pricey. My opinion, but I don’t see a huge secondary market for these, especially with all the tech. 340i B58 is a proven reliable unit.
@@oa1017 meant more so in the car leasing market. BMW keeps the residual value low nowadays instead of higher like in years past. The result is a higher payment. But yeah, that B58 engine is. Beauty!
@oa1017 its pretty crappy my guy. The 2020 M340i can be found with 60-70k miles in the Philly. NYC, DC area for about $28k. That means they lost almost half their MSRP in 2-3 years depending on the assemble date. The F series 340i holds its value roughly 24-29k even after being 7 years old pretty good. The M340i from 2020 is doing horribly
