@@coolguy_2997 actually it doesn’t. It affects a lot of other aspects such as acceleration where the focus is power to weight, braking and fuel economy.
@@Kastellium youre right. It is a good Idea though. The Problem is, that it would be extremely subjective. A tierlist for „the fastest“ or „most comfortable“ car would be More realistic than a tierlist for the „best“ cars. You know what I mean?
These are so nice. I feel like the trans and the shifts align with the cars mission. I definitely would not want an SL to be a razor sharp weapon. Mercedes did an excellent job with this car. Beautiful car inside and out with an outstanding drive train.
@@panzer3279 it does have ceramics if you see yellow brake calipers. Unless his market is different over there in Germany. In USA yellow brake calipers means ceramic brakes. You cannot get red calipers as a ceramic option.
@@ogbenzel usually you are right. But for some reason the car comes standard with yellow calipers (at least for the 63). So even if you don’t go for the ceramics the car will still have yellow calipers as standard
@@janphilip192 ceramics are standard on 63 and an option on SL55. Right now yellow is only option for ceramics. Red calipers are standard on 55. Hopefully more options are to come down the line but no official word.
@@ogbenzel might be different in other countries, but in germany the SL 63 comes with yellow steel brakes as standard and the carbon ceramics are a 9k upgrade. As far as I know this is the only AMG currently available that also comes with yellow calipers even if you don’t go for the ceramics. Even in the video in the beginning Max says, that this car doesn’t have ceramics…
I wouldn’t mind the slightly sluggish/less aggressive transmission. The SL was a luxury convertible really, so it makes sense why they have put a smoother transmission in it to go with the slightly softer suspension. Also, new prototype amg gt’s is being seen at the Nurburgring so if they made this razor sharp, it would sort of make the two cars far too similar.
(USA market) The yellow brake calipers are carbon ceramic they are standard on SL 63 (yellow is only option). Sl55 has red calipers standard and yellow (ceramic) as option. Massively powerful 15.4-inch front brakes feature red or yellow 6-piston calipers, depending on model and trim. Track-trained AMG Carbon Ceramic brakes, optional on Performance trims, are even larger yet lighter.
Great video of a really great vehicle. However, many here have expressed their preference for the new fabric roof. Personally, I much prefer the previous metal folding roof.
Now who say they're "fake centerlocks" since they are just a cover for the bolts, which I personally prefer lookwise..Without the "fake" bolt look they'd look just weird.
This guy is a fucking trashtalker, because he has no fucking clue! Also his other "critizism" points are so full of shit. He's constantly comparing this new SL63 with the AMG GT models. This is a SL, which will share the same base with the forthcoming new AMG GT model. But it's still a SL. This guy is a fucking moron!
I own a R231 SL63, but I'm sorry to say that I don't fit your description of an SL owner. Neither does my wife. But hey, my SL63 has 700bhp and carbon ceramic brakes. Didn't get to test max speed yet, as haven't taken the car on autobahn yet, but the way the car accelerates from 70 to 160mph is unreal.
Really LOVE all reviews from your channel ❤️ just one recurring thing ... please keeps your hands on the steering wheel, man that makes me twitch every time 😂
Gera apžvalga. Šio atverstogio variklio gausmas nuostabiai prislopintas ir suderintas. Vidus ir išorė alsuoja grakštumu. O kai kurių smulkmenų panašumas į mano SEAT Leon-4 yra šaunumėlis 🙂
Dude...that gearbox is rapid ...how can you criticise it? Its mint!! Not everyone is a computer transmission shifting geek like you...in the real world of work and stuff it's bang on
honestly makes sense putting steel brakes on it and having the ceramics as an option because the carbon ceramics made by amg should be used like proper race brakes but the average 63 sl owner wouldnt use it as that. also most of it makes sense considering the way mercedes is going. ofc some things should be done with more consideration of the wider opinion on race cars and production cars as sports cars. but overall great review
