Apologies for the repeated clips for Extra Origins and End of the World! I didn’t have a lot of clips from them, and I didn’t want to dig through my old VODs. I only did two End of the World streams and Extra Origins is purely recorded. Also new DBD video soon! Should be out this week too!
i actually really appreciate you putting how you felt about certain modpacks in the top left. i normally skip throughout videos like these but i stopped and actually listened. i thought i was the only one that doesn't care for the tech/magic in modpackslol
absolutely agree with this list sm, RLcraft is my favorite mod and its disappointing there isn't much like it. I'm also not a big fan of these magic/tech type of mods, they seem really tedious to me and sort of boring and stray too far from Minecraft for my taste. Oh btw you should try the new early update pack for the next update, it adds lightning dragons and swords its cool asf.
I agree with this list, except that simply one mod in Dawncraft - the Epic Fight mod is amazing and just makes fighting a lot cooler both looking and with mechanics, and also there is a setting in the config that automatically puts you in first person when you are out of combat mode and puts you in third person when you are.
So to my knowledge you can’t put modpacks on realms! Ways to play multiplayer are either setting up and hosting yourself (really tedious), using a paid server host site like BisectHosting (I use this for my SMP), or using Essential. Essential is a mod that allows multiplayer similar to how it works on Bedrock, but the downside is the server closes when the host disconnects so it just depends on what you want to do!
you're supposed to toggle between first and third person when u play dawncraft. could be a reason it felt unplayable. Also it helps to know some of the mods in there before hand cuz progression really isn't fast if you don't know what you're looking for. Otherwise I think I agree with most of the others tho RL Craft is fucking frustrating especially cuz it's not really possible to play with my friends
I hear you abt DawnCraft for sure, I tried that and it was still jarring but less so. Also Yeah, sad thing abt RLCraft is that most of my friends can’t play it so I just don’t really anymore.
Nah they just don’t have that DOG in them like I do /j Most of my friends really prefer more cozy modpacks and don’t play packs for the challenge. Plus RLCraft can rely a little too much on being unfair vs being actually hard which drives people away from it for sure
DUDE Sneeg and Union were the best. I remember watching Union's RLcraft smp livestreams back in 2020 on Calvin's server. He also did fishing only streams. Although they dislike RL now, it's still got a very special place in my heart and I hold onto those memories fondly. I used to download the main mods from RLcraft because my old pc was terrible, until I got a new one and was able to play the real thing. I've got a lot of hours on modded Minecraft but never diversified beyond RL
So sad they don’t do RLCraft anymore, but still love their current content. I have a horrifying amount of channel points for Sneeg on Twitch over the years, over 350k 😭
i wanted to ask about the BetterMC modpack and i wanted to try it but it confuses me on if i should play the BMC1 or BMC2 or BMC3 or BMC4 and if i should play fabric or forge could u recommend pls?
okay i actually love this question! to answer your first question, BMC just stands for Better Minecraft, and then the 1 is the iteration of the modpack for the specific modloader (fabric or forge). i'd say check the modlist to see what specific mods it does/doesnt have to see if it suits your taste! for your second question on fabric vs forge i think that question isnt as big of a deal nowadays as it used to be. a lot of mods have variations of themselves that work for one or the other. id say the biggest difference is performance and mod updates. forge is a lot more heavy on the client side of things so it can take a more hefty setup to be able to run mods on it, where fabric is more performance friendly and tends to receive mod updates a lot faster. fabric is less ideal for larger modpacks though. in my experience, if youre running a server, forge does tend to handle it better on that side of things but that could just be totally on me
So it seems like Dawncraft doesn't match your playstyle and it's alright! Though I think that you should try it once again. First thing is that Dawncraft is certainly not a pack to play on hardcore, at least on the first playthrough(s). Similarly to rlcraft, mobs and their attack patterns might just straight up suprise and instantly kill you. The way you fight bosses is also similar to elden ring, you die countless times just to learn their attack patterns and eventually succeed. Another thing - epic fight mod - it's insanely hard to get into it and takes a lot of patience and deaths, at the beginning of the modpack you feel super underpowered, even regular skeletons are threat, but once you figure it out and get better stuff, it becomes super satisfying. Also, it shouldn't be played in 3rd person all the time. Mining, building etc is just terrible with it. The only time you should switch to it is when you fight bosses or actually stronger mobs, eventually while exploring open areas. What the pack certainly does the best is exploration - you can travel dozens of hours with your horse and still discover new structures, bosses, mobs, biomes etc. Custom mobs, bosses and their attack patterns are also really good, though I have to say that they lack some optimisation. It's also worth mentioning that dawncraft has received a major update since the video was uploaded. The feature I really like is replacing antique atlas with an actual map mod and how structures related to quests automatically create a waypoint once triggered. I shouldn't have written such essay lol, it's just that from my perspective dawncraft shares the most similarities with rlcraft out of all the modpacks listed in the video. (though i didnt play most of them) dawncraft on top
Idk why they break the MC feeling for me considering all the other mods I like but it’s just a weird line that crosses for me I guess. They can be fun though! I like exploring them but I don’t like being **forced** to play with them for progression purposes
great video, is disagree on a lot of things because i enjoy different parts of modded(tech and magic mods the most, i love automation) but i still think your video is great
Thank you! I might not understand the hype for those mods personally but I can see so much effort and care put into them and appreciate that. And it’s insane what you guys do with them! Creativity to the max fr
as sm1 who only really plays magic/tech modpacks, i wanna recommend a few things and also talk abt why i find a lot of packs like better mc and dawncraft so insufferable. they are not well configured, meaning that they dont have the wol features that ftb, atm and enigmatica packs have. and adventuring feels very boring in mc. its way more fun to build and progress with systems and magic tbh. but if you want to try a fun tech mod, try modpacks focusing on create. they can be simple yet intriguing. i like rlcrafts mid to late game but hate how much it makes building an insignificant part of the game. try rebirth of the night, which has basic tech mods like bwm while also having vombat and base defense mechanics.
You see, I’m the total opposite. Magic & tech mods for some reason cross the line of ‘Minecraft’ for me personally. Which I recognize is absurd bc of how much I love other crazy mods that totally break Minecraft for some other folks, but that’s just me! For RLCraft - I disable some of the griefing, especially when running it on a server. I was scarred by the Lycanite’s mob events the first time I played it ever and will never play with the Eruption event on again 😭 Thanks for the comment, I genuinely love reading other perspectives. I love seeing how vast this community is
@@Cosmxnauticit's got big story elements and an item collection quest system. I've found a number of new mods i might use for optimization in it. I've gotten to the point I'm just teleporting to structures rather than Aimlessly walking around though.
Going through top modpack videos after having been away from the game for over 2 years for many reasons, and... THERE'S A RAD2!?!? Well, I know what I'm doing. I loved RAD 1, but it was WAY too easy to completely break it, which is why I ended up preferring DDSS over it at the time. (if anyone's wondering how you break RAD 1, let's just say... the RNG loot tools/weapons mod, is REALLY broken, and lets you get both weapons that make you completely immortal, and pickaxes that let you pretty much insta-mine any material in the game if you min-max them enough. This means you can get lucky and be able to take out adult dragons within about 30 minutes of starting the game, which then lets you get pretty much end-game armor, and it just snowballs from there.) And, yeah, I agree, RAD is a WAY better experience solo. Most of the RPG modpacks are. There's a few that are decent in 2-3-man groups, but on like a proper SMP server most of them are just too much. Also, for anyone that's really into that type of adventure-style modpack, and hasn't ever played it, while it's way back on like 1.12, I HIGHLY recommend DDSS, or Dungeons, Dragons and Space Shuttles - It's one of very few modpacks I've ever seen that is focused around custom recipes utilizing the extended crafting tables, and I feel like not nearly enough people ever experienced it. It's legit the only modpack I've ever played where finding an iron pickaxe in a chest is like "whoa I just saved 3 hours of grinding". Unfortunately, it is pre-create era, but it's a really good pack that I feel like way too many people missed out on because the main content creators that covered it dropped it due to getting insanely unlucky, or were just plain bad at it, or were impatient.
Pre-create era makes it perfect for me! I don’t care for tech mods so might be one I check out. Also we were gonna do the OG RAD, but the server completely broke! Corrupted chunks, horrible lag, terrible experience so we switched to RAD2. I wanna try those modpacks out solo for sure
U should check out Infernal Origins Union spent 3 Years making it its out and its so good like omg it sweeps RLCraft under the rug. It should be number 1
I plan to! I used to watch Union all the time, I remember when it was still in development. He’s actually how I got into RLCraft 😭 It’s on my list and it’s going to be in rotation for my SMP. Depends on if the members vote to play it or not
this is just my opinion but I’d put better mc > rlcraft because better mc isn’t an extremely tedious grind fest of a modpack and sometimes rlcraft’s unfair difficulty at times can just ruin the experience for me
That’s my biggest issue with it. It’s punishing to the player sometimes without it being the player’s fault which is a deep flaw some games have. I just love hardcore survival games so I think that’s why it’s above BetterMC for me 😭
bettermc is just an better version of casual minecraft experience, those two mods are two different categories as rlcraft puts new stuff to the game new enchantments minibosses etc while better mc focus on keeping minecraft vanilla as much as possible
better mc is top 1 modpack in minecraft of all time if we consider keeping a vanilla content but not top 1 overall as i would say top 1 in RPG category is something like craft to exile 2
and rlcraft is also a trash modpack its very unbalanced, game have too hard early game while it has easy mid game and late game. i beated all 3 bosses without any wines, just max silver armor and spear and good baubles.
A BisectHosting server that was pre-generated. Some lag issues but they were minimal. If you’re looking to, I recommend using a chunk generator and a third party server but if you can’t then Essential can work it just might be laggy
