Sounds like he's talking about a basketball or football team. Has no idea what skill is supposed to look like lol. Or what they're called obviously. Ridiculous. For example the strength needed that asher hong used on pbars that was a significant reduction right b4 that awesome dismount.
Great to see mens gymnastics featured on NCAA media and get more attention, but you need a much much better commentator, one who knows how to name the skills being executed, articulate their difficulty and can tell audiences the amazingness of what they are looking at. It’s so annoying that all he could rattle off were scores and stats. This is not baseball or football. This is an artistic skills sport, the points alone mean nothing. To keep mens gymnastics from fading, sports media needs to be skilled enough to draw the audience in, hype the right things, get the audience invested in the death defying strength, flexibility, endurance and power moves these athletes are doing. The athletes, audience, and this sport (one of the original Olympic sports) deserve so much more than the less than basic commentary at this top meet.
Can we please have a different person providing commentary? Perhaps a former NCAA male gymnast? This one is ok but the fans deserve better. Also, the picture needs to be better.
Who is the commentator? Does he know the sport? He doesn't tell you the skills. It's background information on the athletes and a lot of talk of point totals. He celebrates routines that I would consider average. I don't want a commentator who rattles off every skill, but I found myself muting more than listening. Also, this sport needs to split off of the NCAA and form its own association.
It's like he's a rookie commentator who wants to say too much but doesn't actually know enough. He also ran so many thoughts together I was confused sometimes what event he was talking about. My brother got a degree in broadcast journalism and this reminded me of the student TV station. Up-and-coming students who just were trying too hard. It would have been helpful I believe for him to have someone to tag team.
He didn't say it very clearly but he said the biggest international competition outside of the Olympics and the world championships. It was the dtb pokal event in March.
@@taylorburtishe seemed confused about a lot so plenty to misunderstand. He didn't seem to understand that athletes not competing in qualifications did not mean they wouldn't compete in finals. Was there really a chance Asher Hong was not going to do AA in finals?
