This SR trim looks nice, but I recently had an "S" (entry level trim) as a rental recently. The S was the very DEFINITION of a shitbox. Didn't even have a center console in the front (just a fold-down armrest for the driver). It just felt INCREDIBLY cheap. It was so bad, I brought it back to the airport, and paid extra to switch it out for something else. The only good thing I can say about it is that I was impressed by how far back the front seat can be pushed back. As a tall guy, this was really good. Allowed my left leg to get nearly full extension. If they'd given me an SR trim, I probably would have kept it.

I just posted about no choice in renting one, and it was horrible. Every time I gave it gas, it sounded like drinking beer through a straw. Gutless junk and ugly as hell.

@@moeanthony9308 , My once beautiful 2006 Cadillac STS V8 1SG just got totalled by a drunk driver 2 nights ago. Had to pay Enterprise $653 to rent all they had, a Kicks. What a piece of junk. Ugly, and has 4 lug wheels with rear drums! No passenger or cargo room but the big problem is the tranny constantly revving the motor to try finding power to accelerate with. Super loud and annoying. I understand it's not a V8 but jeesh.

Just purchased a 2023 VS for the wife, I drove it over the weekend nice car but... ·The car has some power but if your commute includes hills its not very confidence building. ·The CVT transmission may simulate shifts but its still a CVT transmission and does no favors for the engine power bandwidth. ·AC on setting 3... Forget about having any power whatsoever, the car won't get out of its own way. ·Speaking about AC you can't tell in this video but the center vents are at a strange angle facing down and very thin. It was hard to get anything out of them and I was dependant on the round ones on the side of the dash. ·Finally the rear hatch is difficult to open and close. I don't know if its new struts or the door is really heavy but its going to be hard for my wife to get it open and closed. These are the real world issues I found with this car.

Excellent review, Nice to hear an auto journalist like yourself speak positively on NISSAN improved CVT........
@NGMonocrom
@NGMonocrom Месяц назад
It's not Nissan, it's Jatco. And, all he said was that it sounds like a traditional automatic trans. Jatco improved the sound, doesn't mean they improved the quality. Worst built CVT in the industry. That hasn't changed. Nissan and Jatco have the same Parent company.

@NGMonocrom
@NGMonocrom Месяц назад
It's slow. But a naturally aspirated 4-cylinder engine will last you far longer than a turbo-charged one. Still, if you have the option of getting to work by taking side roads or an expressway; take the side roads. What won't last you is that Jatco CVT trans. unless you get it flushed every 20K miles. Doing so, could realistically get you to 100K miles. But be ready to sell it when it comes close to that. The headrests on the SR look Premium. But are not as comfortable due to having solid speakers built into them. Overall, if you want a tall hatchback for not a huge amount of money, this is a good choice. A Crossover? No AWD available. Not even as an option.

I just purchased a 2023 Nissan Kicks SR With the Premium Package. I traded my 2021 Mitsubishi Mirage SE (top trim) with 7,300 miles on it. What a great car it was and I owned 3 Mirages (2015, 2017, 2021) and never had 1 issue. My Mirages also had the Jatco CVT-7 which the Kicks uses also. I had been with Mitsubishi since 2015 but since they are not bringing out a new Mirage and it will be discontinued for 2025 I had to switch brands and I hated that. After months of research I was down to wanting a Nissan. I looked at the Versa, Kicks, Sentra and Altima. Clearly the Kicks was the one for me and I knew it the moment I was behind the wheel as it had such a nice interior in the SR with Premium Package. I could not find any other vehicle close to its price ($26,130.00 was my Kicks SR with Premium Package) that came with so many features. I researched the Kicks alot and Nissans CVT issues they had. Since then several years back with the issues with first gen CVTs they have been much better and are not having the issues like they used too and have redesigned many of their CVT’s and the Kicks uses the Jatco CVT-7 RE0F11B which I mentioned was in my Mirage with slightly different tuning of course. The CVT-7 overall has been a pretty good little CVT. So the CVT does not wordy me in the least plus I put very little miles on, trade every 2 to 3 years and do all maintenance like oil changes and transmission fluid flushes at 3 years or 30,000 miles whichever comes first which is very important with CVTs. So as far as features goes this super little CUV is packed full and really like a quality vehicle. It is loaded and I mean loaded with things like a surround view 360 camera (no one else had this for the price), heated front seats, heated steering wheel, sharp looking zero gravity primatex seats, 8 speaker Bose Audio with build in speakers in drivers headrest (head rest speakers unique to Kicks and no competitors have it), led headlights, led fog lights, led tail lights, led daytime running lights, 8 inch touch screen with wifi, apple car play, android auto, sirius xm, Nissan Connect with emergency services and SOS button, push button start, auto climate control, remote start with intelligent climate control that auto adjust interior temperature, digital gauge cluster screen, adaptive cruise, heated side mirrors, electronic park brake, forward collision alert and braking with pedestrian braking, rear auto brake so you don’t hit anything backing up and it works I tested it and also I could find no competitors that had this feature in this price range, lane departure warning with lights and vibrating steering wheel, blind spot warning, rear cross traffic alert, rear park assist, warnings on camera screen all the way around vehicle to objectives or pedestrians, active ride management module with trace assist and active engine braking (SR), 17 inch alloys, 2 front and 2 rear usb ports, vehicle security system, Nissan Connect app and so much more. The SR Premium is loaded. The Kicks feels like a larger vehicle than it is. It’s extremely roomy inside and has a high SUV like seating position front and rear with loads of head and leg room. It has a huge 25 cubic foot cargo bay which is big for its size. It has a very substantial feel to it while driving and feels safe with some heft to it. It has pretty good ground clearance too at 7 inches for a FWD Crossover. I got it in the Boulder Gray Pearl which is so sharp and unique looking and I got the Titanium Silver like color wheels not the Black. The visibility is very good all the way around and material quality inside is very good. In the cargo bay the whole area is lined and carpeted on the sides its very nice. Another thing is the headlights, wow! They have a great beam pattern and shine very far. I came from a 2021 Mitsubishi Mirage SE (top trim) and it had led headlights but they were the projector beam style. Personally I have always liked reflector style leds vs projector style leds because the projectors have such a sharp cut off on low beam. I love led headlights and could never go back to halogen lol. I have tested the RAB (rear automatic braking) a few times and it works. Backing into my driveway once ai get to the red line on the back up camera and maybe 12 inches from my fence you feel the brake pedal go down and hear that funny ABS like automated noise lol and it displays a message that its ben activated. So cool. Very few cars have RAB. The Kicks is not available with a sunroof which I did not want as I am always hot in the Summer and blast the A/C on high all Summer. My Eclipse Cross I had came with the dual Panoramic Roof and I had it closed and the shades closed 90% of the time and do the same when I drive the other Eclipse Cross we still have. Competition: I would consider the Hyundai Venue, Kia Soul and 2024 Chevy Trax the closest competitors to the Kicks. They are working on a new Kicks to come out as a 2025 but I would wait 1-2 years before getting one until all the bigs are worked out as with an all new model they always have some issues. For example the 2024 Nissan Sentra was refreshed for 2024 with styling and feature updates (mid cycle refresh) and they also updated the transmission. Well a Sentra they had in transit was not coming until December as they were called back in due to a transmission software or module issue as it was a newly updated CVT. So ai skipped right over the Sentra. Anyway back on point. The Hyundai Venue is a good little SUV and I had looked at them and looked at the top trim Venue Limited and it was nicely equipped and was like $24,500.00 for a loaded top trim. I just felt the styling was a little plain, it was much smaller especially in the rear. With the Kicks it has extremely long front seat tracks so in a lot of the pics and vids online it looks like the Kicks does not have much rear seat room and thats not the case. I am 5’11” and I sit half way back in the tracks so in the rear seat sitting behind my self I still have several inches between my knees and the front seat and same with the passenger side so test out the front t seat position then check the rear seat. I slid the driver seat all the way back and I could not reach the pedals and I have long legs lol. Between the Venue and Kicks it more so comes down to styling as they are very closely comparable. I think the Kicks is quieter and felt nicer. The Denim color in the Venue in top trim Limited gives it a neat matching Denim interior which is the one I would go for its really premium looking inside for the price point! Now as for the all new 2024 Chevy Trax its an extremely nice vehicle and has a neat Turbo 3 cylinder. It has a massive interior and the rear seat is limo like. It has been getting top reviews too online. I just worried about GMs build quality and it being an all new model I was a little nervous in case of bugs needing worked out. The top trim Trax Activ or Trax 2RS came in around $27,000.00 when fully equipped and adding the packages to the top trim. Plus on the Trax, Soul or Venue you cannot get a surround view 360 camera or RAB rear automatic braking which were 2 of the main things that impressed me with the Kicks. The Soul is a pretty good vehcile and we had one when they first came out a 2010 Alien Green Soul Exclaim top trim and being its first year out in the USA it was a great vehicle for usb with no issues the 3.5 years we owned it. Its boxy and has a super nice interior. But the main thing that scares me with Hyundais and Kias is all the engine, brake and fire recalls and them all being related to one another. Plus alot of their engines burn oil. I had a relatives 2018-or 2019 Kia Sportage burst into flames months after being bought new. Was a total loss. I take my dogs with me everywhere and leave them in the car locked for like 2 mins at most to run in post office for our works mail and would worry about a fire as they state that it can happen while the cars driving or after it parked. Plus my Sisters 2019 Kia Optima S had to have a full engine replacement due to knocking and hot smells. It just seems like Kia and Hyundai cant get the Fire issue sorted as its been going on so long and still going on with new car recalls for similar issues. I did not want to go full on SUV but I like a hatch for its rear wiper and cargo area. Well the Kicks is a CUV and FWD only and it really feels more like an SUV to me than it does a Car. Thats a good thing! I decided on the Kicks SR over the Versa SR due to the added ground clearance, rear wiper, surround view 360 cameras (was a main selling point for me as our Red Eclipse Cross has it and my Blue Eclipse Cross I had also had it and loved it), and the Bose audio system with headrest speakers and wow it is a really good system. The Nissan Sentra and Versa sat very low to the ground even way lower than my Mirage and it was way too low for me. So the Kicks it was and if you want a feature packed safe little CUV that feels bigger than it is the Kicks is a great choice!!! Good job Nissan!

I went online recently to places where owners place car reviews, and although many owners liked the Trax, there are also many that hate the car because they are having electrical and computer issues with it and with cheaply made trim features and components. In addition, I looked at the Venue Limited before purchasing the Kicks, but they lost my sale because they would not let me test-drive the car; it was not ready to test drive as they promised, and they added $1,400.00 in needless options they required me to take before they'd sell me the car. Also, the interior looked cheaper than the Kicks and the cargo area looked smaller. I do hope you are right about the CVT. That is the one thing I worry about with my Kicks.

The Boze speaker in the head rest is danger's. Sit in the Sr model and put your head in the head rest. You will fill the speaker hitting the head. Your head in a rear collision will hit hard the against the headrest .

@@Neesha242 He probably means a lifetime powertrain warranty. They can be purchased from a dealership. I guess some dealers offer them free. Where I don't know as I've never had anyone offer me anything free (except for free oil changes with my Honda 8-year extended warranty I stupidly purchased, but those changes really never ended up free as they insisted that I have other work done which I paid dearly for, and I hated the warranty because it locked me into having service performed at the dealership for 8 years which was a very unpleasant, sometimes costly experience). The powertrain warranty on the Kicks that automatically comes with the car is 5 years or 60,000 miles.

Mine is the SV. I want to add that after a year of driving the Kicks, I decided I'd prefer not to have the simulated shifts (or gear changes) in the car, especially the one at the lower speed--at least I think there is one around 34-35. The other is around 38-40. That one I definitely notice. I really don't need to feel my car is changing gear. And at lower speeds, around 35, there is the faint air-plane sound of an automatic transmission I used to also get in my Honda Civic automatic transmission. Once I'm past 40 and no simulations, it is quiet and a pleasure to drive. I don't need to feel gear changes.
