2023 Polaris Slingshot R Manual Review - The Three-Wheeler EVERYONE LOVES! 

Great review, and as someone who bought one a week ago, you are spot on. People either get it or they don’t. Anyone who says “why didn’t you just get a Miata” or any other 2-seater convertible doesn’t. I’ve had a lot of 2-seat convertibles over the years including a Miata. Great car but totally different. I’ve been riding motorcycles on the street for 45 years. This is not a motorcycle but does give you the same exposed, out in the elements feeling you get from one. I traded my beloved Indian for the Slingshot and absolutely love it. I almost bought a Vanderhall and I do like the look better but they are more expensive for less room and features. As for toxic drivers, you find that in every vehicle on the road. To be honest, I had seen some douchey drivers in them as well and discounted them. But just one drive and I was hooked. To the ones that hate them, as I always say “you do you and I’ll do me”. Wouldn’t it be a sad world if we all liked the same things?

Limited practicality and doesn't put power down as well as a 4-wheeled car but it's about having fun. Polaris made a huge hit with the Slingshot. It looks distinctive and cool.

I love this thing. I'd say you're so lucky to have driven it, but I could say that about 1/2 the things you've driven!

I got the chance to ride one and it was so fun. The power gets delivered super effectively. It was a 2016 (not a R) but still had fun riding one.

Honestly it sounds like polarus thought of everything but the main issue is... I got my Mustang new fully loaded premium MSRP $38k new for that same price as that top trim autocycle out the door... So yeah it's really expensive when you could just buy a Mustang instead... That said this is a no compromise vehicle that is full open in a way unlike anyo ther unlike an Arial atom my first choice iwhile being more street buggy is not as nice for over 3x the price... So yeah congrats Polarus you've blown me away as well.

Next time you should take the Slingshot to El Mirage dry lakebed or one of the other lakebeds. There are no speed limits at the lakebeds.

I would get one of these if I coukd afford it....I drive a beat up bad paint been in a few wreck 98 Nissan Sentra because that is all I could afford...but at least it has a manual transmission so it is fun.

Saw a guy pull in to work with one of these recently. Definitely a head turner with all the exposure but I wouldn't say it has any practicality. You have a lot of other options in that price range... Hardly worth that price for a GM 4 cylinder.

Polaris needs to make vehicles. Like civilian vehicles. I feel like Polaris could make an incredible sports car

The people talking smack about these in the comment section are boring people I wouldn't want to be friends with.

Oof. Despite being an actual working, driving street machine from Polaris, I just can't get over the icky 'Hot Wheels' styling. Similar 3-wheelers like Campagna's T-Rex or V13R don't do anything for me either, despite looking sportier and perhaps safer. I would prefer something practical and reliable like an entry-level Can-Am Ryker that's designed more like a motorcycle than a glorified side-by-side with a missing wheel.

I love the concept, but the transformer styling is a big turnoff. Also, although I get that the interior is designed with weather in mind, it just looks so cheap and clunky, like a higher end lawn tractor. Unless I had money to burn, I can't see why I wouldn't go for something like a Miata instead.

Only the most toxic, obnoxiously loud people drive these rental Slingshots in South Florida. They always come with these stupid RGB lights and have the music blaring. Usually terrible drivers and when they lose control and crash, they flee the scene. And to the people who actually bought one... Congrats you just spent $30k on a Solstice that's missing a wheel 🤣

This is quickly becoming the mid-life crisis vehicle of choice in my area. Novel idea but the cartoonish looks make it hard to take seriously.

These are nice, but the fact they attract douches driving recklessly blasting music (especially in Miami) give em sort of a bad rap.
