Agreed 100%, he wasn’t driving it to its full potential, but I do understand that it’s a loaner vehicle and he probably was asked not to beat on it. Still, he’s obviously a Ford fanatic.
Yes we are Ford fanatics which is why the TRX made it to our recommended Id Buy It list and the Raptor R did not. In any case our 0-60 testing is NOT by any means scientific, though we did test the Raptor R and TRX in the exact same location under similar conditions. Both were driven in their respective sport modes and given it all.
Recently traded in my Gen 2 Raptor for a lightly used 2021 TRX and I’m completely blown away. Haven’t driven the Raptor R but I’m sure it’s a blast as well. However, in my personal opinion the TRX has more of a road presence and the steering feels more grounded as opposed to the Raptor. The immediate power is mesmerizing and the sounds of the supercharger and exhaust make it one of a kind. TRX for the win!
Only thing I disagree with is when he said the Raptor R is faster. I raced 2 different Raptor R’s and beat both of them. I think the TRX is the best truck ever made. Other than that, a solid review as always.
In our own testing the Raptor hit 0-60 in 3.9 seconds. The TRX hit it in 5.5. While that is not scientific, if you look at most contemporary reviews and even factory stated acceleration times, the Raptor R is faster.
To be honest most of the TRX's tested are fully loaded. Not many test base models. I can see a base TRX being very competitive with a mostly fully loaded Raptor R.
