The reverse switch allows for someone to setup fir bottom fishing where you want to allow the fish to run with the line. It keeps you from having to set your drag super low and do it that way. Many use that feature carp, gar and catfishing. Put a bell or bite indicator on rod and allow for back reel free spool. Without the switch that's impossible to do.

@@tackleaddictgy yea but the "baitrunner" style reels generally are a more expensive reel. So those on budgets use the flip switch style. Have a good one and you're welcome

I feel that the Nasci is the best budget reel. Lots of advantages. Sedona will still get the job done.

These newer sedona's are no where near the level of quality as the ones from almost 20 years ago. New stuff made in china.

Almost everything is made made in china my friend. But Shimano reels especially this one is made in Malaysia.

@@tackleaddictgy not my old school sedonas they are made in Japan. They have never been taken apart or serviced still going strong 20+ years later. Can't say the same for the newer sedonas I got
