Richard and Carol ,nice walk round the auction . the nice Suzuki G T 750 in orange ,7 minutes in ,we had one identical back in the day . When our son Chris was about 3 ,he is 50 now , i bought and fitted a used Watsonian G P Sports sidecar to it . we went to the isle of man tt . the very day after fitting it . Cyril Heath the manager at Watsonian then ,sorted the correct fittings out and i took notes on how to go about fitting it . after 2 attempts it rode o k and so off we went . the G T 750 pulled from right low down the rev range and i dont remember it being over thirsty on fuel either .

That GT 750 is the bike I would love to own. To be honest I've never seen one with a sidecar. Watsonian are a special bit of kit, bet the outfit got plenty of attention

I like hearing the stories behind bikes at motorcycle auctions, I usually get to the auctions a day before they to hear the stories. Richard if you get that car like BMW scooter that would historically funny. Great job showing a lot of beautiful motorcycles you and Carol are always entertaining.
@Banditmanuk
@Banditmanuk Год назад
We had the catalogue with us that gave more details on the bikes, trouble is neither Carol or myself took our reading glasses and couldn't give a fuller description as we walked around. (Rookie error!) Unfortunately lots of the bikes are sold by the estates of former owners, unfortunately passed on. That BMW scooter would certainly be a talking point on the channel, might be nice to buy a classic or something a little unusual or funny. Thanks again for watching, I'm lucky to have Carol so interested in bikes and happy to participate in this RU-vid stuff.

@Banditmanuk Год назад
The biggest surprise for us was the bikes weren't stupidly expensive. You would need to add 15% auction fee to the price but definitely affordable for some great looking machines. Thanks again for watching, always good to hear from you.
@greywolf9292
@greywolf9292 Год назад
@@Banditmanuk Cheers Richard and Carol, likewise it's always great to hear from yourselves 👍😀 Adding 15% auction fees I'd forgot about that, that adds a fair bit to the more expensive bikes. Do they also add VAT as well ?
@Banditmanuk
@Banditmanuk Год назад
@@greywolf9292 Think VAT is on the 12.5 % action fee taking it to 15% Don't think they can charge Vat on the whole bike as that's done just once when the bike was sold new. Mostly the reason you lose so much selling a newish bike

My first bike was an SS50 in 1976, £225 brand new. Then I bought a CB250G5 second hand in 1977 for £430 when it was 18 months old. Still riding, I have a small collection of classic Japanese bikes, including a Black, Purple and Pink FZR600 which I have owned for nearly 20 years. My old timers are a CB360G from 1973 and a DT3 Enduro 250 from 1972. Some cracking bikes there!

Lots of folks have fond memories of their first moped. Mine was an FS1E, a 76 machine but owned by me from 79. I had managed to aquire a damaged SS50 which I used on my dad's farm before I could ride on the road. You sound like you have a great collection, keep on riding and thanks for watching

A pure bike paradise. In the 1960s Harley-Davidson produced the Harley-Davidson Aermacchi at the plant Schiranna (near Varese). They created several models of small bikes. The one that Carol mentioned is probably one of those produced in that factory. If you ask me... I would go for the Honda CB750K1 from 1972. Wonderful video Richard. Enjoyed it very much.

Ohh boy have I got the hots for a kettle or an H2 the GT being the more affordable as ever guys but what an interesting one some really good prices there I am guessing there is premium on top of those sold prices I would guess at 20to 25% on top depending on the auction house that did it but how dangerous would that be on the day I think you would have to leave all cards at home or strap your hands to your sides 😊just fabulous 👌👍
@Banditmanuk

Those prices weren't too bad, sold prices are a little different to what some owners might want if they were trying to sell privately. The fee was 12.5% plus Vat taking the fee to 15%. Still not too bad considering the beautiful detailed catalogue and the work involved by the auction house. We are tempted to visit more auctions, could get expensive 😀 😄 Thanks again watching

Love your videos, although I don't know a lot about motorcycles. Is there a reason why we seldom see vintage BMW motorcycles from the 50's in your videos. Perhaps they weren't very popular after the war, but I would have expected to see a few, but I don't see any. Love how you both present your videos. Keep up the great work. 😊

Interesting question. Honestly we don't see that many at the shows. I'm personally more drawn to the 70s & 80s bikes that I can remember seeing on the road and we probably concentrate more on those. We're at the Stafford Classic in another week, so I'll keep a special look out for the BMWs

@Banditmanuk Год назад
Thanks very much. So sorry to hear you are unable to ride. I'm a little younger at 59 and having ridden since I was 16, I would find it really difficult not being able to ride again. They had some beautiful machines for sale, I would have loved to be able to ride many of them. If I'm honest we make our riding vids as a personal record of our time riding, something to look back at in years to come. It's just nice a few others enjoy watching as well.

Yep some great bikes there. Not sure my home mechanic self could cope with maintaining a bank of 6 carburettors on the CBX 1000. The GT750 Two stroke appeals most but a Honda Cub is so simple that a hammer and screwdriver fixes most things. (Carol says it would be too sloooo for her!) Again congratulations on the 1000 + subs on your channel, thanks for watching and best wishes

Interesting video, thanks for the upload. Prices of 'classic' bikes do seem to be softening following demand over recent years - older Brit bikes in particular. Maybe it's a demographic thing, cost of living etc but in most cases the bikes you featured sold for less than estimate (and many others didn't sell at all). I think this also applies to classic cars - it doesn't really matter if you love it, but I reckon the days of a fast buck are well and truly over.
@Banditmanuk
@Banditmanuk Год назад
Yep, lots of truth in what you're saying. Think the higher demand comes from the guys who want to re-live their youth (like me at 59) I suspect many 'junk' barn find classics aren't worth as much as many people would like to think. I've a mate currently restoring a CB750 and has already spent a fortune on parts.

@@Banditmanuk Hi Richard, thanks for the comments, I think your right comparing the prices to brand new bikes, but I remember being able to buy scooters for like a fiver, although that was in the late sixties, I bought a chopped LAMBRETTA for like fifteen quid, yes the GT750 was a lovely bike nice and smooth, although not fast by todays standards, probably about 120 flat out. I always fancied the Z1 Kawasaki never had one though. I did own an brand new 1999 R1 a few years ago, now that was a lovely bike, I was most impressed with the engine, best engined vehicle I have ever owned so much Torque, I should imagine your bike would be on par with that these days?
