The spring housing market of 2023 looked an awful lot like spring 2022, with the exception of 25% fewer transactions - at least in the Greater Boston area. Inventory continues to be the biggest factor in keeping home prices elevated. With mortgage rates staying stubbornly high, it's unlikely that the inventory situation will change anytime soon. However, there will be many buyers that go on vacation rather than shop for a home. As a result, conditions should improve for buyers who decide to stick around and continue to search.
