picked one up the other day. im a previous T7 owner and it compares nicely... it more comfortable for you and a passenger, its more power, its got better suspension, its got better tech IE getting the power down to the ground better, and its not as quick offroad, which is fine for me, it is defiantly going to be a very underrated bike
Really considering this for a road/ gravel road bike but kind of shocked they didn’t add cruise control. After getting my 2021 DRZ400S I’m becoming a Suzuki fanboy pretty quick lol
just tested it today and was quite surprised with the engine, suspension and overall comfort. the only thing bad I noticed was the heat dissipating from the engine: it was 30º C and the engine at 90º C and it was becoming very uncomfortable, kinda like a boxer engine or a Guzzi... did anyone noticed that?
I've got a '17 650 Vstrom that I'll keep for now. I'd love to see about a 350. Something in between a Yamaha XT250 and a Suzuki DRZ400 as far as power goes. An 800 (and even my current 650) is too big for me for taking offroad unless you count a gravel road as offroad. And my old DRZ400 had plenty of power to do 80 mph and to keep up with 65mph traffic on a highway easily for me. So a 350 would be about the Goldilocks sized engine for me. 5 speed is fine, 6 speed is fine. ABS would be very desirable, traction control is zero interest for me in a bike the size I'm talking about. Edit: Oh yeah, nobody asked me. 🤣
@@philliplonghurst6445 You don't know anything about motorcycles do you? A Dakar 450 race bike makes 2.5x as much power as a drz400. CC doesn't tell you the whole story about an engine's power.
As of now, Honda USA has told us they have no plans of bringing the Transalp into the States. We suspect it may come later, but our reps at Honda will not confirm.
Question. I've heard its narrow around the seat. Is it like the V-Strom 650? I have a 17' and was really surprised how easily I could get my feet down due to the narrowness at the front of the seat. How does the 800 DE compare? Also is it really top heavy? Or well distributed weight like the 650? I use to own a Versys and the top heaviness was really challenging. Is it like that? Thanks!
A modern bike capable of long adventures needs cruise control. I suspect Suzuki has a very capable bike here, but lack of cruise is a no go for me, unless the aftermarket is able to provide a good and cost effective option.
@Phillip Batho You've never used cruise control. I never enjoyed riding a motorcycle until I rode one. Lots of bikes these days have cruise control, and many of us have learned to enjoy their use for long highway rides. Suzuki didn't need to provide cruise, so I was technically wrong. They have limited their market, and as more road bikes offer it, more bikes that don't will be out of consideration.
@@blakeberlin6295 I'm still curious. What is it about cruise control that you find necessary for enjoying your ride? And why would you dislike riding without it? I really like dialing the right amount of power to the rear wheel out of corners and blipping through the gears. When I have to go down a straight stretch, I'm holding the bars anyway, so holding the throttle is automatic.
@@gigi9467 Whoaaa! No kidding! I searched it and my eyes hurt! What the heck- did the Suzuki development guys go visit Yamaha? (That's a pretty mean thing to say, I know.)
@@gigi9467 Using the same logic, you wonder how some women were able to marry some men. Aesthetic generalizations are so subjective. Yes, there are some universal beauty standards, but Japan abandoned those about 12 years ago if anyone has been paying attention. Now it's relative. How much worse is the 8S than say, anything in the MT range? Even Honda has some ugly ducklings.
i went to see it today, it feels VERY VERY light, i don't know how they manage that, but it feels as light as my KTM 790 Adventure, the bike is a lot better in person, but the exhaust and the tail light are ugly AF... the fit and finish are a lot better than i expected. 21" front and 220mm of suspension, is all i need.
Adv craze to me is weird. I know the bikes can go everywhere, but the reality is, adv are not good on street compared to a real street bike, and not good off road compared to a dirt bike, and they are ugly as hell.
Ugly is in the eye of the beholder. You're right about the lack of focus, but if one is riding 1000 miles and expects to encounter rough dirt roads and smooth open highways, either a dirt bike or a pure street bike will be horrible choices.
You said it.....they can go anywhere.....within reason. I'm a dirt guy.....have off road bike,a cruiser if I want to buzz around on the pavement, and an 1190S for when I'm not sure where I'm going,or how I'm gonna get there. Tires....are the biggest thing.....off road you need a half decent knobby, which sucks on road. There are very good tires that are smooth on road and still work good on dry dirt 5ho. For a person who wants to get off pavement while still putting in seat time in relative comfort an advbike makes perfect sense. Oh yeah.....I can put street tires on my 1190 and be almost sport bikish....150hp
I agree with you about the ugly factor. I'm pushing 70 though, and with around 110K bicycle miles my neck and upper back are in constant pain. ADV bikes promise more comfort.
Really I was hoping that Suzuki could do a better design on this bike to make it look aggressive.... The design looks so boring as of the designers had nothing better do...come on Suzuki..
What is this bike all about ❓❓- The wheels are TUBED - as a dealer "explained" to me - for offroad / stones...... Then why is it sold with purely ROAD tyres ⁉⁉🥴🥴👈👈 If it's a touring bike for bad roads - logical, but then - why NO CC ⁉⁉ Where is a PROPPER windshield ⁉⁉ In otrer words - WTF is this thing ⁉⁉🤔🤔
The parallel twin has more power, lighter weight, better center of gravity, greater fuel efficiency and drastically reduced production cost than its V twin predecessor. This is all some how a loss to you? Get your head of the old mud.
