I wonder if anyone has considered using a makeup sponge to apply the sealer to reduce brush strokes. Especially since it’s meant to give a smoother application for makeup. Any thoughts?

If needed I use vinyl shield sold by TRW. Never had an issue yet. But I agree handwash is the best method

I use vinyl Sheild also and love it. I use it mainly on tumblers that you’re going to constantly have your hands all over.

I am always so surprised that so many are concerned for dishwasher safe. Handwashing is really not a big deal LOL. I am way more concerned with microwave safe. Sadly, there aren't many methods for mugs that are microwave safe.

I tried an experiment with Cricut Smart vinyl permanent on a cup just like that one only the other day. ran t through the dishwasher and it was absolutely fine - the glue on the vinyl backing works perfectly. I'll run it through a few more times to be sure. I now need to find some permanent shiny vinyl to try out... but the mod podge solution is a no-no for me... I'd rather specify 'hand wash only'.

I do all my dishes by hand. I don't have a dishwasher anymore. My mom always said she had a dish washer... but then she got married!! LOL.. (me) Thanks for the tip, I did get some of the midge podge and I used a brush. Now I will try this again with my finger . Thanks for sharing.

One of my first mugs I made I used this method. Cured for 30 days. Put on the top shelf of the dishwasher everytime using air dry. The vinyl was fine...the mod podge shriveled up with each wash. I have untreated mugs using 651 or StarCraft that have lasted longer in the dishwasher than the treated! Won't use this method again....waste of time and materials.

I thought adding mod podge or something is only on top of the vinyl and does not help .? Didn’t i hear that in a recent video i watched about sealing vinyl on door hangers or something ? I am thoroughly confused 😂. Thank you all ! ~. Heidi Ann
